Six bedroom modern dormer house on own grounds, sleeps up to 12 people. Garden runs down to riverbank. The house is located about 1 mile (1.6kM) from Athlone town. The spacious open-plan living / dining room / kitchen has a wood burning stove. The house also has a separate sitting room, one en-suite shower room and two family bathrooms. Outside is a large South-facing deck with outdoor dining facilities & barbecue. The large garden is bordered by a small wood. Entertainment is provided by indoor & outdoor games and satellite TV. There are numerous riverside fishing locations nearby. Boats are available for hire in Athlone town.

The house is located near the Shannon river bank, close to the point where the river opens into Lough Ree. Lough Ree is a large freshwater lake famous for boating & fishing. Just a short distance upriver is Lough Ree Yacht Club which has very good berthing facilities along with a nice bar/clubhouse. Downriver is the town of Athlone. It is about 2 miles by boat to the old town where you can tie up your boat and enjoy a meal in one of the many good quality restaurants within sight of historic Athlone Castle. Athlone is ideally situated in the middle of Ireland from where visitors can venture out on day-trips every day to explore places from Dublin to Galway and Tipperary to Sligo.

Our family of 8 stayed at Jim Doran's home for 9 days - the house was perfect for us and we enjoyed the location of the town nearby. Athlone provides an excellent spot to see much of Ireland with the charm of a small city without the crowd. The train and motorway system workout grand. The home was immaculate and could easily rent for more. We could not have chosen more wisely. I would recomend this property to anyone.
