This large airy appartment is situated above a small bar in a unique location in the old part of the Moorish fishing town of Olhao. Recently converted, it has kept its original facade including the hand painted tiles and the charming balcony from which you can just watch the world go by! It is situated on the sea front and has fabulous views over the sea, park and markets. Its huge 40 m2 living/ dining room is very tastefully furnished and has plenty of comfortable seating as well as a pellet fire which makes the flat warm and cosy in the winter months. There is a brand new kitchen with all the mod cons including a large fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a 37' flat screen TV with all the satellite English channels, DVD player and a Radio/CD player. We have 2 good sized bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, giving onto a large 40 m2 terrace with large hot tub, bbq, table and chairs and sofa and arm chairs perfect for relaxing in and drinking sundowners.

The apartment is situated in the prime position overlooking lush green palm-skirted gardens and near two purpose-built covered markets which daily offer an impressive variety of fish, meat, fruit and vegetables at bargain prices. Behind the apartment, fascinating narrow streets with a Moorish flavour take you quickly into the busy shopping area and a large variety of very reasonably-priced restaurants. There is night life and even a small opera house putting on a wide variety of entertainment. Frequent ferries and water taxis are just across the road to take you to the three islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol, where there are charming traditional fishing communities, more restaurants, and fabulous safe and soft sandy beaches stretching for miles. Much of the area is a nature reserve full of all kinds of sea birds and other creatures in a wonderfully tranquil and unspoiled setting. There are fantastic golf courses nearby and waterparks, ZooMarine and go-karting within 45 min drive.

Additional information about rental rates

  • A deposit of 30% of the rent is paid when booking, the remainder is to be paid 8 weeks before arrival.
    Rental includes electricity, water and gas, linen, towels and weekly cleaning. A breakages deposit of €300 is required which will be returned to you after your holiday providing there are no breakages!
  • Heating: Electric radiators are included in the price plus 2 bags per week of pellets for the fire (in the winter months). If you need more there is a charge of €5 per bag.
  • Payment by bank transfer or cheque (and under certain conditions by Pay Pal). Contact us for details.

Notes: In the main holiday season, changeover day is a Saturday There is a steep staircase to the apartment and therefore it is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Linen will be changed on a weekly basis. The property has a large hot tub on the terrace that can be turned down to cool you down in summer and turned up for use in the cooler months. All linen is provided except for beach towels. There is a cot and high chair available.

Wonderful holiday in Olhao

We are a family with a baby ( 5 months old) and we had a great holilday in Olhao in this apartment. We were suprised because the apartment was even biger than we expected. It is huge! It is decorated with a lot of taste with a mixture of vintage furniture and modern pieces. Everything is done with a lot of taste and a special atmosphere was created. There is everything one may need once on holiday. There is a lovely person who took care of us once we hat some questions. There are two splendid markets in front, one with fresh fish and the other is a vegetable market, where one could always buy great things for dinner, but in case you want to eat outside, there is a large number of typical portugiese restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Sandy beaches are easy to reach with a boat, which is only 5 min away from the house and there is a lovely nature park not so far away. I would recommend this property to my friends in any case and would love to go there again! Thank you, Isabel for a lovely time we spent in your beautiful Casa Azul!

Just returned from your super apartment. We had a wonderful time, Olhao is just perfect.
The apartment had everything we could possibly require.
The rear terrace gets the sun all day and the hot tub came in really useful. The apartment is in a ideal position close to the many restaurants and just across the road from the daily markets. The ferry boats to the islands are just a short stroll along the sea front with its many fishing boats.
