Bow is said to be named from the bridge that spanned the River Lea in this neighbourhood, and which was built under the direction of Matilda, wife of Henry . It was called Bowe, because the bridge was arched like unto a bowe, a rare piece of work, for before that time the like had never been seen in England.' Bow is now primarily residential area for the City Professional and boast an amazing Park (Victoria Park) with has its own lake and Deer park in the centre. Bow also has an amazing network of water-way canals with interesting pubs and walk-ways. Bow is famous for its historic Bow Bells of London immortalised in legendary English Poems of olde.
