Uzes:
Uzès is a real 'pearl'; tiny streets harbouring magnificent renaissance architecture meander around the Place aux Herbes famous for its bustling Saturday market, surely one of the prettiest in France and a real pleasure for the eyes and of course for the gourmets ! A great choice of bistros and gastronomic restaurants are to be found close at hand as well as a wonderful choice of shops providing all local specialities, cheese, fruit and vegetables and of course many wine cellars for tasting !
The town centre is at about 1, 5 kms and can be walked. There is a supermarket at 2 mins drive and a baker at walking distance
Off season:
This part of Provence is particularly agreeable off season. Clement temperatures with blue skies , sunshine, bathe the country side with an indefinable light so dear to so many famous artists. Mas des Roses is wonderful for this time of year, comfortably furnished and centrally heated; after a lazy day exploring the country side you can relax in front of a log fire and enjoy a glass of Cotes du Rhone and even enjoy sitting on the sheltered terrace on a sunny winters day.
At the end of January is the Truffle festival in Uzès, the whole town is devoted to the black diamond, kilos for sale on the market place , demonstrations of truffle hunting and all the restaurants proposing a special truffle menu - an unique experience !
