Murter Vacation Rental villa

This villa provided excellent value for money. Well-presented, exceptionally clean, fabulous terrace with lovely views of Murter and neighbouring Koenati islands.When enquiring about the villa we were given lots of relevant information.
The beach is 5 mins walk down the hill. Beautiful surroundings and sandy, but when we were there it was mainly under shallow water (this may be dependent on the tides). However, this didn't bother our 3 children (aged 8,6 &4). They had a fab. time. Snorkelling is good here too.
Did have a slight problem with people laying their towels out early and then disappearing for several hours, but us Brits are used to that.
Eating Out: we ate at Maretta's pizza restaurant in town. Great for kids. Also enjoyed meals out in Tisno(10mins drive away);try Tony's restaurant on the waterfront.Booking is advisable but worth it for better quality food although no more expensive. (Our meals which consisted of 2 cokes, bottle of water, 2 lge beers, 1/2 caraf house wine, 5 main corses and side dishes never came to more than £46). Ice-creams are v. like Italian ice-cream ( superbly moorish!!!). They often give generous proportions and are only around 65p a cone.
Eating in: use the local greengrocer,butcher, baker and fishmonger; even the old ladies at the side of the road selling the crops from their garden. Fresher and cheaper than the supermarket. We have never had such fresh squid as from the fishmonger here. £2 worth fed my husband and I for 3 meals.
Advisable to have a car but the roads are quite narrow so don't hire a big 4 wheel drive! Croatians are sensible drivers who stick to the speed limits and are polite.( No road rage here!)
We went to the Waterfalls at Kirka National Park. Stunning scenery, but can be v. hot down at the bottom. Take your own picnic and drinks if you don't want to pay the huge prices at te bottom of te falls.
A trip to Split is further away but a must for a day out. Beautiful city; lots of histrical interest. (We were so impressed thet we intend to go back for a weekend without the kids).
We visited Zadar on route back to the airport. Roman forum worth seeing in the old town. Eat at Konoba Trata, signposted from forum. Easy to miss but is a charming courtyard-a shady retreat from the heat. Again great food at a great price.
Highly recommend this property to families with younger children and to older couples.
