Local beaches: There is a wide choice of beaches within easy reach of Villa Mykandra: Kalamos - shingle, 10 mins Paou - shingle, 10 mins Horton - sand and shingle, 5 mins Olive Bay - shingle, 10 mins Potistika - sand, 20 mins Milina - sand and shingle, 15 mins Paltsi - sand, 20 mins Mikro - sand, 20 mins Kastri - sand, 20 mins Lefokastro - sand and shingle, 15 mins Afissos - sand, 20 mins Platanias - sand - 20 mins Katigiorgis - sand, 25 mins Damouchari - sand and shingle, 30 mins (set of Mamma Mia!) Skiathos beaches can be reached via water taxi from Katigiorgis (10 mins transfer) or via boat from Platanias (25 mins transfer)

Getting here: Most people arrive in Pelion via flights into Thessaloniki, Athens, Volos or Skiathos. Easy Jet fly from London Gatwick to Thessaloniki. Other scheduled airlines include BA and Olympic, note that these flights tend to be a more cost effective way to travel than booking charter flights into Skiathos or Volos. Car hire is highly recommended. However, there are good, cheap bus links between Athens/Thessaloniki and Volos. The buses are air conditioned, modern and comfortable. You can take a connecting bus from Volos to Argalasti or take a taxi from Volos.

Getting around: Car hire is highly recommended when staying in the Pelion. There is so much to see and most places are within easy reach of 20 mins driving of Villa Mykandra. Hertz, Avis and SIXT have desks within Thessaloniki airport, although other major agencies will offer to meet you in arrivals and drive you to their offices. Pelion Rent (local car hire firm in Milina) is another good option. They will deliver your car to the airport free of charge on request. They also rent scooters and motor bikes. Locally, there are taxi drivers around Argalasti and Milina but advance bookings are recommended. Guided horse riding is provided by local stables. Finally, but certainly not least, small motor boats are available for half day or daily rental from Milina Nautics. The waters of the Pagasitic Gulf are calm and a day out at sea makes for wonderful discoveries - unspoilt coves, the occasional dolphin, seals ..who knows..

Ski: Small winter ski resort within approximately 1 hour drive of the villa.

Golf: No local golf

Other Activities: Canoeing, small power boat rental
