Alcossebre is a small Spanish town that has grown up around a small fishing village. The town is sheltered by surrounding mountains which has been declared a national park called Sierra de Irta and it has a number of perfect sandy beaches. Tourism has grown over recent years, thankfully the authorities of the town have limited large developments and high rises are not allowed.
The town is not heavily commercialised and so it retains it small town charm, with plenty of boutique shops, bakers, restaurants and bars. The area is unspoilt and free of pollution and heavy industry, the air is sweet and the quality of light is excellent. All the beaches in the area are blue flag beaches, golden, white sand or coves with pebbles and carpeted with ivory sea shells.
Surrounded by National park and managed carefully by an enlightened town council, developers have not built row upon row of identical high rise apartments. Instead there are a series of apartment, town houses, bungalows and villas carefully designed in sympathy with Spanish tradition set on a backdrop of the significant moorish legacy left behind in this part of Spain.
There is plenty to do here all year round:
Swimming, Sunbathing, Beach games, Cycling, Hiking, Sailing, Water park, Carting, Paragliding, Kite Surfing
Alcossebre and Las Fuentes are sheltered by a 312 metre high mountain called 'San Benet' if you drive up there you willl have a fantastic panoramic view of the coast and inland areas. On a clear day you will be able to see the Columbretes Islands, San Antonio in Alicante.
Its Yacht Club organizes regattas and promotes the development of sailing activities such as light and cruiser sailing, motorboats and fishing. To these activities must be added the tourist attractions of a zone that attracts many international visitors.
