Alto das Vinhas is a quiet area, and the house is designed for a relaxing family holiday, although there is so much to do in the surrounding area, you may not even notice! There are 4 bedrooms, 3 with mezzanine floors, 2 bathrooms with showers, and a large Lounge/Dining area. There is comfortable seating for at least 8 around the fireplace with wall mounted Sat TV in the corner. Above this, there is a card table with 4 pouffes, perfect also for puzzles on a rare rainy day! The fully fitted kitchen has a table with 4 stools for breakfast or a quick snack. Air conditioning throughout. Outside there are 4 distinct spaces providing excellent opportunities for total relaxation! The front door has a pretty covered area perfect for lunch outside; the main garden boasts a 26' x 15' pool; adjacent is a BBQ area bordered by bougainvillea and lemon trees; the roof terrace offers spectacular views of the surrounding Arrabida hills. There is parking outside within the main gates of the property.

Alto das Vinhas is situated in the Serra da Arrabida, area of outstanding beauty, with its natural park, vineyards, unspoilt beaches and golf courses. The property is around 40 mins from Lisbon, and only 10 minutes from both Sesimbra, with its superb seafront restaurants, and the spectacular but challenging Quinta do Peru Golf Club. There are many different styles of beach nearby: from the waves and endless sand of Meco, and the pretty seafront at Sesimbra, to the calmer waters of the Arrabida beaches, there is something for everyone. For the surfer, a trip to Praia do Guincho near Cascais is an easy day trip. Mountain biking is popular, and there are many vineyards that offer tours, including the famous Bacalhoa and Jose Maria Fonseca wineries in Azeitao. Azeitao village itself with its old world charm cannot be missed, especially a visit to one of the cafes for the local cake, Torta de Azeitao, and a glass of Moscatel. After all this, don't forget Lisbon's bars, museums and culture!

  • Bookings and Security Deposits:
    All payments will be made by bank transfer.
    - To reserve your preferred dates, 40% must be received in cleared funds. 60% balance must be received no later than 30 days before the arrival date, or the property may be booked again with no refund of the reservation.
    A security deposit of 500 euros must be received by transfer before the arrival date, or in cash on arrival. Provided there is no damage to the property, furniture and utilities, nor cleaning over and above normal usage, the security deposit will be returned by transfer no later than 5 working days after leaving,
    Cancellations will mean a forfeit of any payments unless the property is successfully rebooked for the whole period without costs,
    - Changes to the booking will be accommodated where possible with no guarantee.
    - It is recommended that occupants take out their own comprehensive insurance against theft of belongings and damage to the property caused intentionally or by negligence.
  • Rental prices refer to groups of up to 6 persons. Ask for details about the extra charges per person if your group is larger than 6.

Superb, I took my 70 year old father and seven year old son. The villa so comfortable and a real home from home. The villa is in a beautiful quiet spot and the locals are so friendly. Didn't even use all the space available. 4 beaches to choose from and lots of amazing restaurants nearby. We did a wine tasting tour and 2 local castles and were ready for the complimentary bottle of wine that was left with some milk and bread on our arrival [very nice touch]
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities

Family friendly house in a quiet area

We visited in September '09. My wife & I had a toddler and an infant plus their grandparents with us. We found the house to be very suitable - the pool was closed off to the toddler and the garden was enclosed so it was safe to allow him out to play and explore. The bedrooms are on separate sides of the house which allows privacy. We cooked in a lot and the kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans etc. There is also a nice BBQ area. The house is in a quiet area and there is nothing much in walking distance so a car is essential. Seisimbra is a short drive away and Sebetual is well worth a visit - some good places to eat, plus a nice pedestrian area. The drive back through the Arrabida has stunning views out over the Atlantic. We found the owners very easy to deal with and getting to and from the airport was no trouble.
