Voro cottage nestles in the village of Lithakia some 300 metres above sea level with spectacular views of the sea and the Argassi peninsula looking across Kalamaki bay and towards the town of Zakynthos which is approximately 10 kilometres away by road. Nestling amongst the olive groves Voro cottage is centrally located for most of the islands amenities yet enjoys a rural and tranquil calm location that is private but not isolated. Being less than five minutes away from beautiful sandy beaches and more than a dozen or so local tavernas.

Voro Cottage is situated in a rural area on the edge of the village of Lithakia. There is, three minutes walk from the cottage, a village shop which is not only “ open all hours” 365 days a year but sells everything from fork handles to fresh meat and vegetables ! Two tavernas and a pharmacy complete the commercial activity in the village ( not forgetting the petrol station, motor mechanic and two local cafes ). Five minutes away are the beaches of Liminaki and Agios Sostis which are quiet and away from any crowds. Even so there are motor boats for hire, pedalos and trips to spot the world famous Karetta turtles.

Notes: Smokers welcome around the gardens, plunge pool and patio areas, although we prefer if you restrict your smoking to the patio area of the cottage itself. Laundry facilities are available at any time, use of tumble dryer if required. Iron and ironing board are also available at any time. We have prepared a guide to the island which details the ok tavernas and beaches and also gives directions how to get to them with the journey times so that you can plan your days more effectively. There is a separate book describing most of the walks on the island and the plants , shrubs and trees to be found on each walk. the spring wild flowers are truly spectacular.

Relaxing Zakynthos

Just returned from a restful Autumn beak at Mike and Gilly's pretty cottage. The weather was clement and our hosts kindly and considerately ensured that we made the best of our time, with advice on where to go and what to eat on this most beautiful and accessible of islands. We were pleasantly surprised, even in late October, to be able to make a boat trip to see the stunning Blue Caves off Cape Skinari. The fact that a number of tavernas were still open, as the season came to an end, in places such as Lake Keri and Agios Nikolaos was an added bonus. Do take time to explore charming Zakynthos town itself, which has made a remarkable recovery from the 1953 earthquake. All in all, thoroughly recommended!

Everything about this holiday was unforgetable in the nicest way! We enjoyed spectacular sunrises, peaceful surroundings, lovely beaches, secluded coves, great tavernas and, of course, the hospitality of our hosts.
We would recommend hiring a scooter to get around...all the better to experience the changing scenery and smells of this beautiful island.

The perfect holiday!

What a delight it was every morning to wake to sunrise over the the sea and mountains, Voro cottage is superbly located! Mike and Gilly are fantastic hosts and did everything they could to ensure we had a memorable time - nothing was too much trouble. Their local knowledge with tips of places to go off the beaten track was invaluable; we truly saw the best of the island, meeting some lovely people along the way. Highlights had to be exploring the island, finding places we would not have seen without 'insider' recommendation and local travel tip directions ... invaluable!
Swimming was fantastic all around the island with amazing clear waters and warm sea - with a boat trip being a must!
We wanted something away from it all, in great surroundings but not remote. Voro cottage and the kindness of Mike and Gilly exceeded all our expectations and will certainly rank as being one of the best holidays we have ever had. Returning from the beach or exploration of the island to sit in the plunge pool with a glass of wine and watch the sunset was the ultimate in chilling out. The perfect holiday and the perfect hosts!

Perfect location for a relaxing, truly Greek getaway! Waking up to a beautiful sunrise every morning from the cottage veranda is truly breathtaking. We couldn't have asked for more welcoming, homely hosts, they were always on hand to help with anything we needed. Perfect for a romantic, chilled and peaceful two week holiday...definitely away from it all! Would highly recommend a car as there are many amazing places to find on this beautiful island.

Just the most fabulous location for a delightful cottage. Mike & Gill are fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble..the views from the cottage and surrounding area are mesmerising .The location was perfect for sightseeing and resturants.We had such a wonderful time and would certainly return to this lovely location and to see our hosts once again
