This elegant, luxurious, 19th Century Villa with private gated pool nestles in the hills near the village of Sao Bras de Alportel. Sitting in two acres of delightful landscaped gardens with orchard's bursting with plum, fig, orange, lemon and lime trees, Monte do Casal has been refurbished to the highest possible standard, giving the guest contemporary comfort, whilst retaining its splendid original features. The use of colour, soft furnishings and locally crafted floor coverings and textiles make this a unique place to stay There are 3 bedrooms in the main house and 2 bedrooms in the fabulous separate pool house, with its private courtyard, for those guests wanting that little extra privacy. The well equipped kitchen is high ceilinged with original terracotta tiles and huge refectory table. A separate dining room with beamed ceilings and antique dresser has seating for 10. The comfortable drawing room has french windows onto the bougainvillea shaded veranda and outside dining areas. The landscaped gardens are a delight at anytime of year. There are two patios - - both with views across the gardens - and lots of comfortable settees & wicker chairs. Pick an orange whilst enjoying a relaxing pre-dinner drink! The outdoor eating patio is shaded by lemon trees, bougainvillea, clematis & verbena with a large stone table where meals can be as formal or informal as you like.

The private, heated, private pool is 10 x 5m with built in steps, and a shallow end for children. Sun loungers, umbrellas and inflatable pool toys are provided. A handy fridge to keep drinks cool and table and chairs for poolside drinks and snacks. Shaded area to escape the midday sun.

Monte do Casal nestles on a lush, herb covered hillside between the coast and mountains near to the town of Loule and Sao Bras de Alportel in the Central Algarve. This is the secret heart of the Algarve, where wild almond, fig and pomegranate trees grow around the villages, whose simple charms and whitewashed houses give the feeling of having stepped back in time. Sao Bras has an Intermarche supermarket (that also sells newspapers and caters for English taste) and a farmers market on Saturdays where you can buy Only 8 kilometers away is the pretty town of Loule with its Medieval castle and historic centre, much of which has retained its original charm. The narrow alleys of the old town are full of potters, saddlers and coppersmiths and a covered market selling seafood, fruits and vegetables alongside locally made pottery. Whether you are looking for local gastronomy, water sports or poolside relaxation, Monte do Casal won't disappoint.

A memorable stay in a delightful house. It felt more like a home than a holiday villa. It was

difficult to tear ourselves away from the house and to explore the area but the beaches were

delightful and lovely dinners in Tavira and Loule. Best thanks to Helena & Bill. We proudly

ended off with spectacular pizza created in the wood burning oven.

Bedroom 1 in pool house has double bed and luxurious living area with flat screen t.v. Bedroom 2 in pool house has pretty decoratated beds. Included in the cost is domestic help 6 mornings every week - our lovely housekeeper comes in the morning to make the beds, tidy up and make lunch if required. She will also do some private cooking if required. An meal is prepared ready for your arrival - usually some cold meats, a selections of salads and fruit and some local wine. We also provide a breakfast pack.
