Brisa del Mar is a luxury 3 storey townhouse located on a golf course. It has 1 double bedroom with en suite bathroom, 2 twin bedrooms, a shower room & ground floor cloakroom. The kitchen has granite worktops, crockery & cutlery for 12 & all the utensils you would expect to use. The lounge has a leather suite, 32” TV with English channels, iPod docking, books, games & a log burning stove. All bedrooms have ample storage, hairdryer, mirror, chair, towels & percale bed linen. There is a south facing garden, 2 terraces & sea views, sun loungers, cushions, table & parasol. Also included are: 4 folding beach loungers, parasol, garden table, parasol & chairs for 6, 2 adult bicycles, 2 sets of golf clubs & underground parking. There is also a large swimming pool & toddler pool (seasonal) with lifeguard. The fabulous beach, local bars & restaurants are less than 8 mins walk. Costa de la Luz is one of Spain's best kept secrets with miles of unspoilt blue ribbon beaches backed with pine forests & sand dunes. Water sports are popular and south west facing coast provides fabulous sunsets. Other activities nearby include birdwatching at the local lake & nature reserve, horse riding, racing at the karting circuit or cooling down in the summer at the water park. For some true Spanish culture and architecture, visit some of the many small towns and villages or spend a day in Seville. Other excursions include boats trip us the river guardiana between Spain & Portugal, the Rio Tinto Mining Museum or a foot ferry to the sand spit (La Flecha) opposite Nuevo Portil. For golfers there are many excellent courses within an hours easy drive for players of all abilities. Green fees are often half the prices found in Portugal and courses are much quieter. This is a fabulous area for families & couples seeking lovely beaches, golf or just some relaxing sunshine.

General Golf Information: Compared to the Western Algarve and the Costa del Sol, golfing opportunities on the Costa de la Luz are as yet relatively undiscovered. Green fees are considerably lower and the courses less crowded, making it much easier to get a start time that you want and play a round in reasonable time. Most Golf courses in the area have practice facilities where you are able to hire balls to loosen up. You can play in both Spain and Portugal and all are very easy to get to and give a wide range of different course to satisfy all tastes. Please be aware that most Spanish and Portuguese courses require soft spikes. Buggies and trolleys are usually available for hire.

Local courses: Nuevo Portil: This course winds through the houses and pine trees in Nuevo Portil. It offers a pleasant walk that isn't too tiring and is a good test of golf for all levels of player. The 11th hole is worth a mention it is a par 5 with a small lake in the front right. El Rompido (North & South): Less than 10 mins drive away finds these 2 spectacular championship courses set amongst pines, olive trees & marshland. Both courses are a very good test of golf especially if the sea breeze picks up. Look out for the marsh crabs underneath the bridge crossing the marsh on the South course. The south course has hosted a number of professional events and has also been used for the final of the Daily Mail foursomes. Bellavista (Duhesa golf): The is the oldest members club in Spain (founded 1916) Bellavista is a true members club in the British style. More undulating than many in the coastal area and a challenge for most golfers, the course belies its par of just 70.

Islantilla: This 27 hole course staged the 1996 Turespana Open and provides 3 challenging loops of 9 holes. The course varies from tight tree lined fairways with small, fast greens, to open views of the Huelva coastline with challenging shots over water to target greens. The course meanders through the pine trees and will lead you to believe you are the only golfers there. Some of the holes are lined with accommodation and with a large slice your ball could visit a swimming pool, mine did. The course is easy to find and is about 20 minutes drive away from Brisa del Mar. Isla Canela: Although relatively new, the course has been integrated with surrounding coastal features; winding through an area of tidal salt marsh. It is largely flat, so will provide a leisurely walk for those who prefer not to slog up hill and down dale, yet also provides an enjoyable golfing challenge. The course is easy to find and is about 25 minutes drive away from Brisa del Mar.

Golf: Costa Esuri: Two courses West and East. The West is a long course but easy walking with some stunning views of the bridge linking Spain and Portugal over the Guadiana river and the natural marshland. It is a riverside parkland course with a real links feel. It is intended that it will host tour events but the fairways are wide and fair. The East is designed with holiday golf in mind with seven lakes. Despite being on a large development the courses have a very natural feel to them. Dunas de Doñana: Dunas de Doñana Golf Club is located at the southern end of one of the most important national parks in Europe, La Cota de Doñana, and close to the Atlantic Ocean. This location provides a real golfing gem with challenging holes well protected in many cases with water and bunkering.

Golfing Holiday

For us this was just right in every way, our first visit to Brisa del Mar, our 5th holiday in the area. A very generous house in every way, had everything we needed. A lovely beach and restaurant 15min walk, golf course 10 min walk, three courses in area within 10min drive. The house is in a super position with sun all day, and three nice areas to sit in, sun and shade. The beach chairs and brolleys were very nice to have.El Rompido Village is very good at week ends delicious food, lots of local people enjoying themselves. The house made the holiday wonderful for us, Alan & Jackie have thought of everything, very tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean.
We thank them very much for the use of their home, and already have booked it again for 2010

The best self catering house we have rented :-)

We have stayed at a number of villas and apartments so know what to expect and this is as good as it gets. We have been to this house twice now; once in October 2008 and again in August. It’s a very Spanish area and though we sometimes needed a phrase book, our Spanish has improved. In the summer the place is alive and buzzing and brilliant for the kids with the beach, pools, Water Park and carting etc. In the autumn it was great for relaxing; we had miles of beaches to ourselves and the sea was still very warm. We could not believe the weather (80 degrees) and, as golfers, the superb value compared with other parts of Spain and Portugal – we paid just 25€ at Nuevo Portil as we played after 2pm.

The welcome pack on arrival and the detailed guest information book (we called it the ‘Oracle’) were perfect to help us settle in and find out about the area. The house was clean and immaculately presented. The kitchen was fully equipped as any family home would be – far more than most holiday homes. To me it was the little things that made the difference such as not having to hire golf clubs or take beach towels etc – meant we brought one less suitcase and a smaller hire car (saving money all round). Loved the IPod & MP3 docking stations, DVDs and the range of books to read and swap.

We found it a big advantage having the garden backing onto the road as it was so convenient for our luggage, food and the kid’s things – some of the other houses have quite a walk to car parking spaces. The other big advantage was that the garden faces south (unlike the north and west facing pool view houses on the estate that we also considered) – south facing is a big advantage in October as we had lots of sunshine in the garden and balconies. We had views of the sea from the balconies although a tree across the road seems to have grown over the year and blocked most of the sea view from the first floor balcony. They were both very private for sunbathing!

In our summer trip the kids initially moaned about the pool being closed between 3pm & 5pm but after a couple of days they settled in and we used that time for our picnics in the shade at the hottest part of the day. We appreciated the lifeguard as we could relax more. We also took day trips to Seville and Portugal as they were in easy reach.

In conclusion it was a brilliant house in a brilliant area and we can sincerely recommend Brisa del Mar for all types of holidays. We will be back.

Our vacation

I stay at this house in Agust with my 5 friends. It is the first time we do a holiday for ourselfs and Jacky and Alan make it all very easy for us to book the house and they write us in Spanish. At the house they have information in Spanish and English and it help us know where to go and what to do. It is an excellent house, all is very clean and nice and big rooms. We not need anything more.

We love the pool and beach, that we walk there very easy. Shops and bars are near also.

After the vacation we get our deposit back very fast from Jacky and Alan – thank you. We are wanting to come again maybe next year.

Great holiday

We had a glorious week in Brisa del Mar in March 2009. The house has everything exactly as described , even beach towels, so we brought very little with us. It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped even down to the smallest detail. We used the Ipod dock all the time and read some of the books which are available while sunbathing on the balcony. We had breakfast on the terrace every morning. We felt very much at home as this was our second visit to Brisa del Mar. We love this part of Spain.
The weather was like summer and we spent a lot of time on the beach. We made good use of the two bikes and we were on the beach in minutes. There are lovely cycle paths through the pine trees along the fabulous beach which stretches for miles. The sunsets are magnificent.
Off season the pool is closed as is the nearby water park and some of the restaurants but this didn’t bother us at all. A car is essential and we stopped off at the supermarkets near Cartaya and stocked up on all we needed for the week. The journey from Faro airport is very easy and the directions to the house are spot on.
Alan and Jacky are a pleasure to deal with and provide a great service. They really want you to enjoy your holiday.They have a first class holiday home and all arrangements regarding keys and payment are flawless. We highly recommend this property to our friends and we can’t wait to go back.

A winter visit to Brisa del Mar

February 2009 - This was our second winter visit to Brisa del mar, and again we had glorious weather, with temperatures reaching 24’C on most days, and hardly a cloud in the sky. We had no hesitation in booking again with Alan and Jacky because in all of our dealings with them they have been honest, accurate, professional and very friendly.
The accommodation is of the highest standard, immaculately clean and contains just about every item we could possibly hope for. The kitchen is furnished with dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster and kettle, and all modern and new equipment. On arrival we found a very generous welcome pack awaiting us, which proved useful, because we had forgotten more than one item! We found at least three bathrooms, and all were of the highest standard and again, immaculately clean!
Due to the nature of our visit and the time of year, we didn’t spend a lot of time around the complex, so can’t comment on the pool or the balconies. However, due to the fairly chilly nights in February, we did make good use of the wonderful log fire, which combined with the heaters in each room kept us very warm and cosy. The free view television gave us good quality access to British terrestrial channels, including BBC1. It was great to relax in front of the log fire, with a glass of wine, after a long hot day in the February sun, and enjoy Match of the Day!
Car hire is fairly essential at Neuvo Portil, because it is about 90 minutes from either Faro airport (in Portugal), or Seville. It’s a very easy drive from either airport, mainly dual carriageway all of the way, on almost empty roads in February. We parked the car on the quiet road outside the house each night, but if you prefer, there is an excellent underground car park available.
The biggest problem we had on both winter visits was that many restaurants were closed. Our favourite was the pizza restaurant on the roundabout in El Portil, but that was only open at weekends. On other nights we travelled the short distance to the much larger resort of Punta Umbria, to a favourite fish restaurant we found.
This whole coast has glorious beaches, probably the best in Spain, and there seems to be lots of water sports at nearby El Rompido, though again we were there at the wrong time of year to fully appreciate it.
In conclusion, Brisa del mar is a fantastic holiday home in a great location. I would have no hesitation in going back again or in recommending the place to a friend.
