The local vineyard is owned by Yve who will be delighted to show you how the wine is made and - the best bit - offer you the chance to taste it!.Bourg-sur-Gironde has a lively market every Sunday morning. It also has a number of excellent restaurants and cafés. Throughout the year, there are fêtes and events to celebrate everything imaginable, such as show-jumping, jazz, salt, flowers, onions, garlic, cheese and asparagus!The town of Blaye is ten minutes away. As you drive alongside the Gironde river, look out for the Roman villa and troglodyte settlement at Plassac. Once at Blaye, the port has a car ferry which crosses the estuary to the forest and beaches of Les Landes.The centre of Blaye is dominated by a magnificent citadel and the hillside fortress stands guard over the town and the river. The area around Vine House has something for everyone. A good place to start is the city of Bordeaux (30 minutes). You can shop and sightsee or visit gardens and museums. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely supper at a restaurant before heading off to sample the excellent night life! Visiting the city is easy thanks to a park-and-ride system using an ultra-modern tramway.The atmospheric caves at Pair-non-Pair are just 10 minutes away. They date back 30,000 years and are incredibly impressive and moving. Prehistoric carvings and tools have been discovered in the caves and are the oldest ever found in EuropeIf cognac is more to your taste, the town of Cognac is only 50 minutes away. To discover brandy at its best, visit one of the many famous brandy houses located around the town.Overlooking the Dordogne valley, the medieval hilltop town of St-Emilion is 40 minutes away. The pretty town is famous for its wine making, with guided tours available for touring the vineyards and the wine cellar
