THE ELK CROSSING CHALET @ MT RANIER $195 MIDWEEK/$220 WEEKENDS!

My family of 4 and my parents rented this cabin to explore Sunrise on one of the most beautiful October weekends. The location was perfect to explore the north eastern side of Mt. Rainier. The drive took us no time at all and we got to see the Elk on the way out of the subdivision. My kids loved that! The house was very clean and welcoming. The apple cider that the hosts provided was AMAZING!!!! The kitchen was well stocked and there was even popcorn left for us. My kids (and the adults) really enjoyed the hot tub after a day of hiking to Mt. Fremont Fire Lookout. In fact, my kids keep asking when we can rent it again! We did find that the futon in the master bedroom was not quite a full sized futon, which worked fine since my 5 year old slept there, but there is no way it would have slept a teen or adult. We would have no hesitation about recommending this place to our family and friends and hope one day to return.

This small house was very easy to be in, the pictures on the site make the rooms and the home look much bigger than it is, but its a nice size and fit our family of 5 nicely. The description didn't make it very clear, at least not to me, that the Eagles Nest about of the garage could be rented out and the fire pit and the hot tub would be shared with the renters in the Eagles Nest. We were surprised by this, but it didn't pose any problems for us. I just thought I would put it out there if it would be a problem for a more private family. The wifi was definitely only available in the kitchen, holding the laptop or phone up to the window. (we guessed that the owners lived next door and we were using their wifi ? )

Overall the location was great and we are seriously considering going back during ski season. Very quiet and restful.

My family and I stayed here the first 2 nights of our 6-day Seattle area vacation and, for us, that just wasn't quite enough time in this beautiful setting. (Another day would have been nice.) Our ages range from 16 to 62 and all 5 of us really liked it here. We enjoyed the large, covered hot tub, the patio area, and sitting around a crackling fire under the tall pine trees after dark. (Nobody was renting the smaller place above the garage next-door so we had the property all to ourselves.) Our beds were comfortable and the house and everything on the property appeared to be meticulously maintained.

We live in a suburban neighborhood that isn't very noisy but here at the Chalet I realized sometimes that my ears were hearing nothing - nothing at all! - but the sound of silence. Finally this wonderful oddity usually would be broken only by a bird singing or a rare car going down a road somewhere off in the distance. We felt at peace here. I wouldn't change a thing.

Originally we had planned to do more exploring of the area but, once we arrived and got settled in, we found ourselves content mostly just hanging out at the Chalet. On day 2 we walked the easy and pretty paths in nearby Federation Park, discovered why the White River is so white (clay), ate lunch at a picnic table there, then had ice cream in Greenwater. The Chalet at Elk Crossing is a place to which we'd like to someday return. Oh, and the property itself has what appears to be an electric wire around it but I did see a majestic-looking elk there early on our 2nd morning! He was down the road. And what was he doing? Crossing it of course.
