One Block to Beach and Seawall, Three Blocks to Pleasure Pier

My family and I rented this home as a way to celebrate my 30th birthday; there were 8 adults and 4 children. The home was very spacious and we never felt cramped or lacking personal space. The layout of the home is exactly as the owner shows in the layout and we were able to sleep 12 people easily. The home was built in the early 1900s and has all the charm that you would expect in an older home. The kitchen and bathrooms have been remodeled but the house still has an historical feeling to it and the wooden floors creek in places like you would expect in an older house.

It rained off and on during our stay but it didn't detour us from enjoying the beach which is literally a block away. The front porch was a huge hit with my family and I think we spent more time out there than in the house itself. The sea breeze can be felt from the porch and you can see all kinds of seabirds which my father really enjoyed. The game room and the bunk beds in the adjoining sunroom were a huge hit with the kids and provided them with things to do as the adults prepared dinner in the large open kitchen. As it was NBA playoff season, the guys also enjoyed the 42" TV in the dinning/entertainment room and the gas/charcoal grill in the back yard. The shower in the downstairs bath is perfect for rinsing sand off when you come back from the beach and can be accessed easily by the back door without dragging sand throughout the house. The upstairs bath has a jetted tub which the kids and adults both loved.

There is a small grocery store and liquor store just a block west of the house and was great for picking up things we forgot. If you would like souvenirs, Murdoch’s is just a block away on the beach. We also enjoyed a trip to Moody Gardens, shopping at The Strand, a banana boat ride at 10th & Seawall and took the free ferry over to Port Bolivar and back (and yes we did see dolphins!). We didn't have enough time to enjoy Pleasure Pier but it was easily within walking distance.

The owner was so helpful in answering any questions I had and provides a very detailed list of things to know about the home upon checking in. He was always accommodating and quick to respond to my emails. I would also like to add that the home was extremely reasonably priced for the location and amount of space provided and I would definitely recommend to friends, family or anyone looking to have a great time in Galveston.

Everything was just as described. The house is walking distance to the beach, shops and bars. If you stay here, I'd reccomend a short cab ride (less than $10) to the Strand District (night club/restruant district). The owner went to great effort to insure our stay was perfect.

We had a wonderful time! Highly recommend! Loved the house and location. The owner is very gracious and easy to work with. House is as shown in photos. Clean, lots of towels, never ran out of hot water, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen. Wonderful front porch to gather on as a family. Rained a lot while we were there, but house is large enough that we did not feel cramped or claustrophobic. Game Room is a life saver for bored kids on a rainy day! We would definitely come back for another visit! Maybe next year!
