There is a staff of 4 that have been with me over 15 years. They provide 24 hour service including laundry, cleaning, child care, and tour guide/driver. Two cooks treat you to Balinese, Thai, French, Italian, and American southern food that is among the best in Bali. All the guests rave about the staff, the quiet location, and the daily ritual of traditional Bali. The compound is new, but uses recycled antique wood from a villa on the same spot..

About Tom Roberts
I am an environmental scientist who fell in love with Bali. The people were in a state of mediation when I arrived. I chose to raise three boys in Bali. Now I live between Santa Fe, Bali, and Nashville. I own the structures, and I have leased the land for 66 years.
Tom Roberts purchased this villa in 1980
Why Tom Roberts chose Seminyak
We came to Bali and fell in love with a culture that was in a state of mediation. Each village shared and was a permanent culture filled with dance and music. It is sad to see the change. The people of Bali are still wonderful. So I stay. They like electricity for pumping water. The auto is a mistake. Now they fight against pollution and sprawl. Stop plastic Save the Bali culture.
What makes this villa unique
The staff when not working sit together and make offerings. It feels like a Balinese compound, not just another modern villa. You know you are in Bali.
The food is great. Love cooking with Nengah. They bake everything including bagels, bread, pies, cakes, and granola. The food is certainly comparable to the better restaurants. They can shop and provide three meals a day for about $20 per person. You can also shop and cook your choices. Start with exotic Balinese fruit (mango, passion fruit, papaya, sirsak, etc.) American breakfast with homemade jam and bagels, eggs florentine, or fried rice. Try pizza or salad for lunch. Dinner can be Balinese, Thai, French, Southern, Mexican or Italian. Eat better for less.
Wayan, the driver concierge, is a great shopper and tour guide. She has helped start people in business. She can take you to a spiritual healer or ceremony. Take an eco village or adventure tour. Ilu is also a great cook and lovely with children. Spend the day out front on the Seminyak beach which has a good beach break for surfing. Horseback riding is available at Mesari on the way to the beach.
Perhaps only house in Seminyak with beach access and a quiet road to supermarket (take a bicycle) or other shopping. Many restaurants and bars are nearby.
The downstairs studio bedroom and the natural bedroom are designed for breezes that keep them cool year round. There are six air conditioners, but I usually prefer fresh air.
The villa is situated in a quiet spot, but near Seminyak shopping, Ride a bicycle to the market. Great beach with surf, and near the famous night spots of Seminyak.
There are 5 acres of forest next to the compound with many birds. I love the song of the rain bird.
