My name is Lydia and I was born in Barcelona. I work as an air traffic controller at Barcelona airport, approach radar controller. I love travelling around the world and I want for my guests to feel like at home despite of being far away from it. I treat people the way I would like to be treated to make them enjoy as much as I can this incredible city where I am from and that I love so much, my dear Barcelona...
I will give you some advice about Highlights, places not to be missed, restaurants and concerts, do ask me as many questions as you might have. It is my pleasure being able to help you.
I am sure you will enjoy your stay with us.
Lydia purchased this house in 1998
We stayed in a rare gem in Barcelona. Off the street in a pedestrian walkway. Quiet, peaceful, safe. This apartment is a dream and a haven of perfection. Lydia is obviously a special genuine true soul who cares and goes beyond anything to help. The design, quality and all the special details obviously reflect and mirror image the wonderfulness of our hosts. Merci mille fois…one thousands thank yous!
Thanks to Lydia and her lovely home, our Barcelona experience couldn't be any better! The home is exactly as pictured (even more lovely in person), and Lydia was especially accommodating during our stay there. All amenities in the home made for perfect resting and meal breaks to refuel for exciting adventures touring the city. The location is easy walking distance to the beach, historical centers and all public transportation options. We will certainly stay here again if we are visiting the city.
We were thrilled with everything about this rental. Lydia met us when we arrived, it was very easy to find by taxi, and she was so welcoming we felt right at home. The home is beautiful, clean and modern, exactly as pictured. The location is perfect, 5 min walk to the subway which gets you anywhere very easily, and only 5 min walk to the beach. The kitchen has everything you need so make a trip to the grocery store 2 blocks away and enjoy breakfast and coffee on the front courtyard or rooftop patios. What a delight. This exceeded our expectations in every way. I can't wait to come back.
We (famliy with one 6y old daughter) could not agree more with the predecessors! the Location is just great (walk into town in 15 mts. or to the beach in 5 mts). and it´s very quiet at the same time!
The house is tastefully furnished and the kitchen is equipped with everything, even a Nespresso coffeemaker.
Lydia is a perfect host, always ready to help and caring, the fridge was full of delicious things that we could not even eat up in 4 days. Many thanks, we will definitely return!
My husband and I and another couple stayed here in end of August - beginning of September. This is a beautiful apartment living room (with fold out couch) and kitchen and one bathroom with shower on first floor; two bedrooms with a bathroom with shower upstairs, and a terrace on the third level. Lydia, the owner, was very nice and accomodating, she was very responsive to emails and calls, she had done groceries shopping for us when we arrived, she was there promptly to meet us and was available throughout our stay to answer questions, provide restaurant recommendations, arrange taxi pick up to go to airport. The apartment is very clean, has everything you need, kitchen is fully stocked with appliances. Airconditioning works well in all bedrooms and other areas, plenty of light. Also it is on a very quiet residential street so there is no noise at night. We ended up taking taxi everywhere but there is a metro stop and bus stops very close by, there are stores to buy groceries and other items you might need. It is a few minutes from the beach and a beautiful area with many restaurants and bars - lively night life. There is a tourist bus that stops nearby and takes you all over the city as well. It is possible to walk from the appartment to the center of the city but it is not a short walk - not something you will want to do every day. Only thing I would note is that this appartment has pretty steep stairs and there is a guard rail only on one side so it is not the place for little kids/toddlers. For couples or families with older kids and especially if you want to be close to the beach - perfect place!
The Olympic village of Barcelona is built on the sea front by the Port Olympic Marina. The two towers with a height of 153.5m dominate the Barcelona skyline, a nice view from our house. There are numerous sculptures along the sea front and a wide variety of restaurants, bars and 'chiringuitos' to enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine.
Another must-see is the Torre de las Aigues (1905); The Fish by the sea, designed by Frank Gehry, a huge copper-coloured steel structure that glimmers in the sunlight; the Plaza de Toros Monumental (1914) with its strongly influenced by Mudéjar and Byzantine architecture facade; the elegant Parc de la Ciutadella (1888) and its Monumental Cascade partially designed by Gaudí; and the Barceloneta, the old fisherman's area where you can feel the Mediterranean atmosphere you would expect to find in a fishing community, are some year round tourist attractions that you will not want to miss. And all of them within walking distance.
The Sagrada Familia by Gaudí (1882) is 1,5 miles, 11 min. by bus (10).
Take the subway (Ciutadella / Vila Olímpica L4) and in a quick ride of two stops you get to The Cathedral (13th-15th centuries), the astonishing Gothic Quarter where you walk back in History to the 10th century; and the Picasso Museum. One more stop and you will be by the well-known Plaza Cataluña and Las Ramblas.
