The relaxing sound of rushing water will immediately soothe the most frazzled traveler! The firefly show starts right at dusk so get ready.
If it's a bit chilly outside, build a fire (firewood included) make some popcorn and put on a movie. Turn on the ouside floodlights and watch it snow if your timing is right.

Now for the fun stuff!!!!
The master includes a California King, full bath, large windows, and is located on the main floor. The bathroom has been renovated with new tile, shower and vanity. Decorated in a woodsy theme, the large picture window with views of the forest give the illusion of sleeping in the trees.
Ascend the spiral staircase for access to the next two large bedrooms. There you will find a darling room with two queen beds that has a balcony that overlooks views of the mountains and the cascading pond. Just open those sliding doors, grab a book and sigh. Or turn on the HDTV, cuddle up with a quilt and chill. This is a great room for children. There is a chest full of games, two large closets, dressers, desk, and decorated in a country mountain motif.
The third bedroom has a California King bed and a crib. This room has a Western theme. After years of collecting vintage decor, this room makes you want to explore every nook and cranny. The crib is 'sleep in' ready, we even stocked some diaper cream and wipes~just in case you run out! The upper full bath has been newly renovated with new tile, vanity, extendable shower heads and a Grizzly Bear theme. We like themes!!
We love our home and have stocked it with all that you could need. Our goal is to have you come and enjoy Firefly Hill without having to worry about packing too much. The newly renovated kitchen has every tool and spice you could need. Cook a yummy dinner and sit under the rustic antler chandelier. Grab a glass of wine and enjoy the sound of the waterfall on the lower balcony or heck, on the upper balcony!! Need to check your email? We've got free wi-fi. Need to catch up on a show? We've got dish! It's cold and you forgot slippers or a sweatshirt? No worries, we have a big box of cozy items for you. And we have them washed after EVERY visit. Speaking of washing, the washer and dryer are located in the garage along with an additional refrigerator.
Both levels have window unit a/c and ceiling fans in each bedroom. The kitchen was just renovated with a new stove, refridgerator, range, counter tops, tile, paint and isn't too modern that you won't feel like you are in the mountains!
We also just purchased a large flat screen for the living area. But, again, don't let that fool you~it still is so very cozy and cabin-ish. Firewood is stocked year around, without additional cost to you.
With a new roof, new deck and new outside paint, Firefly Hill is so adorable.
We sincerely hope that you relax while you are here. The town of Franklin has many opportunities for things to do. Our chalet is very close to mining (Franklin is the US gem capital), horse back riding, river tubing, scenic hikes, u-pick berry farms (we enjoy making homeade jams)
Downtown main street has darling boutiques, gourmet or country cooking, 'pickin' on the square' (every Sat night local tallent bluegrass cloggers etc perform-just bring a lawn chair fom our basement and have a blast of local mountain music certain to be remembered). Several great Flea markets are close by as well as auctions where we enjoy antique.
Nearby you can quickly access the fancy area of Highlands, drive to Gatlinburg and Cherokee, or Asheville, take a train ride to Bryson City, visit the Dillard house, visit pick your own farms, go mining.....it's endless!
Firefly Hill has been in our family for 3 generations and our family has shared priceless memories over the years. Holly Mountain has been a treasured source of joy, love, relaxation and healing. Some of our fondest memories can't be 'store bought'. Picking local fruits and making homemade jam, taking fallen branches and whittling walking sticks, catching fireflies in old mason jars, collecting and painting found river rocks, chasing cows on the other side of the mountain, and taking our own inner tubes a tubing down a local river were free and unforgettable adventures! And as amazing as it may sound, it all STILL exists for those seeking more simple moments. By all means explore off the mountain opportunities too. Within a 16 mile radius you will find horseback riding, white water rafting, gem mining, hiking trails, scenic open air train rides, awesome antique auctions, river swimming holes, a 'fun factory' (that has go carts, put-put golf, bouncy ball pits, etc.), skating, bowling, movies and so on. Oh yes, for the adults, Harrods Casino in neighboring Cherokee (a hlf hour drive away)
has all the night life fun. In addition, grab the Franklin paper and play with the locals to get an authentic feel for mountain life. Be sure to allow time to chill on the deck, grill something yummy, enjoy a glass of wine and llisten to the sound of the waterfall.
Our home is large enough to keep a family and then some!!
With two balconies, a waterfall feature, lots of room, and miles of a mountain to explore, you won't be lost for things to do. Our video library is great on a rainy day with a slow fire in the brick fireplace. Feeling like b-b-que? Use the grill on the balcony, grab out our picnic supplies and light some sparklers, but don't forget to pull out the ice cream maker. It is ready for you!
Or perhaps you want adventure?? Hop in the car and be transported to Cherokee, Dillsboro for a yummy meal at the Jarrett House, Highlands, Asheville, find yourself a gem at a mine, tube down the Nantahala, hike the Appalachian Trail, discover the local flavor~word of warning~do not diet on this trip!
I simply love it and I hope you will too. Franklin is a quiet place with lots of quirky stores and people that are so full of Southern hospitality that it refreshes your heart. Franklin is very close to so many fun activities.
