BEAUTIFUL PLACE, BEAUTIFUL VIEW!

  • 5 of 5
To start, the view from this place is amazing!! It was so nice to sit out on the lanai and just watch the ocean, sunrises, and sunsets. We really enjoyed our stay here. The place is simply decorated but has all the necessary amenities. The location was perfect for us because we did not want to be right in the center of Hilo, but there is not a lot located nearby. This was not a problem for us, we just stocked up on what we needed while we were out and about for the day. We did not have a contact with the owner while staying there, as it was not necessary, but he was very helpful beforehand. If you want some peace and quiet and a beautiful place to relax, this place is for you. We would definitely recommend this place!

BEAUTIFUL, RELAXING HOME.

  • 5 of 5
We had a lovely, relaxing visit at this home. It's very new and clean in a quiet, rural area of the Big Island. Our children loved visiting with the sheep daily and the adults loved sitting on the lanai, watching the ocean and enjoying the cool trade winds. It is an easy, 20-mile drive from Hilo Town, and convenient to Volcanoes National Park, which is a must-see. The kitchen has very new appliances and it was easy to cook our meals to save money. The owner was very accommodating in answering our questions and making it very easy to rent and use the home. If you are looking for a relaxing, welcoming vacation rental we absolutely recommend this rental home. Thank you for sharing your hospitality with us!

NICE HOME NEAR HILO WITH OCEAN VIEW

  • 4 of 5
We had a very nice stay at this home north of Hilo. It was new and clean with plenty of room. The 3 bedrooms and 2 baths gave us lots of room for our family. The "outside down" layout with the kitchen/dining and living room upstairs with the balcony out front and the bedrooms downstairs took advantage of the view which was beautiful. We enjoyed having the sheep on the property and the natural setting. We appreciated this home as a quiet place to relax after sightseeing around the island. The owner was very helpful with suggestions about the area. The home was very close to the famous Akaka Falls. We visited many sites on the Big Island during our stay. A few local establishments we enjoyed are the What's Shaking smoothie stand along the 4-mile scenic drive, and in Hilo, the Cafe Pesto and Pineapples restaurants.

AMAZING HILO STAY & MEMORIES

Amazing Hilo Stay & Memories
  • 5 of 5
My family and I did not want the typical hotel stay vacation we wanted an adventurous, fun and relaxing vacation in Hawaii. With that said, we decided to travel to the Big Island and start on the Kona side of the island and then traveled to the Hilo side of the island before flying to Maui for the duration of our stay. In doing this, we had to utilize 3 different VRBO vacation properties for our Hawaiian vacation. When staying in the Hilo District we decided to stay in a lovely secluded two-story home with beautiful interior features. After a busy day of seeing the sites (Volcano’s National Park, Historic Downtown Hilo, Coconut Island, Wailuki River State Park & Rainbow Falls) and flying with IOLANI Air Tour Company (iolaniair.com) over Waipio Valley and Volcano’s National Park with our pilot Dale. This picturesque home on a hill was perfect for our stay. The properties lanai has an endless view of the ocean and uninterrupted view of the stars at night. We enjoyed sitting and listening to the bamboo chimes when the trade winds would blow. In fact, we enjoyed that sound so much that we purchased a set of bamboo chimes for our front porch so we can continue to remember our wonderful experience. The home had all the creature comforts of home and was very comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

NICE HOUSE WITH A GREAT VIEW!

  • 4 of 5
The house was brand new and in great shape. The view from the balcony was amazing! The kids loved the sheep out in the fenced yard! Who needs a swing set when there are sheep to entertain the kids! There was plenty of space in the house and always a nice breeze blowing through the house. Loved being out in the country! Just missing some personal touches.

Some things to note:
The water did have an iron taste to it. My kids wouldn't drink it so we used a Britta filterr while there to remove the aftertaste.
No grill for barbequeing
No internet (we did get data on our phone with Verizon, but At&t wasn't working)
No screens in french doors upstairs for keeping mosquitos out).
Double beds in two bedrooms instead of queens

Over all, other then the water issue, we had a great stay! Tarek was easy to work with. Thanks!

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed our home and your vacation. I am sorry about the the "iron taste" of the water. We collect rain water which is purified by UV light and further cleaned with twin filter system. The water is safe to drink but it contains an odor due rich mineral contents. Most guests buy bottled water but use our tap water for cooking and other purposes. We feel environmentally responsible to use rain as our water source.
Because of the ever present treadwind we feel that a BBQ grill poses a fire risk for our home but we will certainly consider it for our future guests.
Thank you so much for your comments and tips.

BEAUTIFUL AND COMFORTABLE HOME WITH MILLION-DOLLAR OCEAN VIEWS

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have stayed in several vacation homes on Big Island, and this is one of our favorites. The home is clean and well set up, and it is extremely comfortable. We did not want to leave when our week was up.

The house is in the perfect location for sightseeing from Waimea to Volcano. It is centrally located on the lush Hamakua coast where countless waterfalls, lush botanical gardens, and amazingly beautiful coastline await to treat your senses. Stars fill the night skies. We loved going to sleep every night under sweet ocean breezes and to the music of crickets, frogs, and birds. The view of the ocean from every side and front-facing window and from the deck are just out of this world. It is mesmerizing to watch the ever-changing mood of the skies and ocean, all from the comfort of the home. Sunrises and sunsets are absolutely spectacular. Our week in this house was extremely comfortable and truly magical.

There are some charming cafes nearby, and we recommend that guests stop in Hilo or Waimea for grocery shopping. We found everything we could possibly need or want to prepare meals at the house, and we were also able to do a bit of laundry. Three bedrooms and two full baths can easily accommodate 6 adults. This is the perfect getaway location for a romantic couple, several couples, a family with kids, or a group of friends. This is a welcoming home with heart and warmth.

The VRBO listing description is accurate and the photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities. We were, in fact, more delighted with the property than we expected we would be upon arrival. The owner is absolutely terrific. He was such a pleasure to work with. He was extremely prompt responding to all our inquiries, from the initial inquiry on the rental through check out, and he clearly and genuinely wanted to ensure that we had everything we needed. Our week in this home was a highlight of our 3 week stay.
