Kapoho Cottage Rental Photos and Description
1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
The Lite House is a quality home with super comfortable, high-end furnishings and appliances, in a private and quiet section of a gated community. This is a small home, the perfect place for a couple who wants their privacy, and also a bit of luxury. It is also suitable for a small family (four maximum). The Queen-size bed is 12' thick memory with high thread-count cotton sheets. The quality, inner-spring double bed futon in the living room allows for two more people.
The Lite House is touched on three sides by state land (no immediate next door neighbors) so there is exceptional privacy for being in a subdivision. There is nothing but open space (state land) between the house and the ocean. The property that the Lite House sits on used to be ocean-front property. The 1960 lava flow filled in where the ocean touched the property on three sides, and the shoreline was extended. You might say that it is still an 'ocean-front' property, but now with a bit more of a walk to get into the water (scroll down to see revealing satellite photos).
From the Lite House, you can see the Cape Kumakahi Lighthouse in the distance; its faint glow at night adds charm when you are outside, or looking through the kitchen window. Cooling trade winds are almost always present, and come right through the house when you have the doors and windows open. Enjoy being outside, any time, and with no mosquitoes! At night, the sound of Coqui frogs is a distant and mild serenade.
It's a 3-4 minute walk to locally famous Champagne Pond, where you can snorkel with the turtles or just float around on the calm, volcanically heated water. Lap swimmers have also found Champagne pond to be exceptionally suitable.
In the adjacent neighborhood are the Kapoho Tide Pools (aka the Waiopae Marine Preserve), known for world-class snorkeling. Snorkel gear and boogie boards are provided for your use.
Two bicycles are also provided for exploring the area. The terrain is mostly level, and with very little traffic. The marine preserve is about a ten-minute bicycle ride from the house, or you may drive. Kapoho Beach is a very bicycle-friendly and pedestrian-friendly community.
Hike about a quarter of a mile to the rugged, scenic shoreline and watch the waves crash against the lava coast. When the waves are high you can also see them crashing from inside the Lite House.
Note: We did not design this house, but we named it the 'Lite House' for a reason. Please be advised that it may not be comfortable for 'extra-plus' sized guests.

About Richard or Diane Beers
I (Diane) am a kindergarten teacher having just retired. My husband, Richard, and I are looking forward to spending some quiet-time in Kapoho! We have family there, and look forward to when we can see each other any time we want, just by hopping on our bicycles. And I can't wait to take my air mattress down to Champagne Pond every day and float in the lovely, warm water with the turtles!
Richard or Diane Beers purchased this cottage in 2012
Why Richard or Diane Beers chose Kapoho
We love the constant, pleasant climate of Kapoho, with its famously clean air. Additionally, mosquitoes have had a unrequited lifelong love affair with Richard, so their absence at this particular home's location especially appealed to him! And we enjoy the fact that the location is so peaceful, and with such privacy.

Guestbook comments from the manager
I shared this Lite House with my mom from the time we arrived on the evening of the 11th until now. This lovely home is ideal for quaint evenings in and walks in the nearby area (location is fabulous) & close enough to the beach/Champagne Pools but far enough from the city noise. I thank you for putting together this sweet, sweet place, we have enjoyed comfort and relaxation here at best. For guests to come lend your senses to the sounds of the ocean (we keep the back door open when we are home), the starry night-sky, the smells of native flora and vegetation around, and the sensation of the winds & breezes. What a gorgeous home & a delightful vacation here. My mom & I & father in heart have thoroughly loved it here.
