House, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Completely private, immaculate and spacious contemporary home in exclusive Indian Lake with access to a private like and pond offering swimming, boating, and tennis. The house is situated in a sunny, restful wooded setting. The spacious great room offers a high vaulted ceiling, natural wood and glass for viewing the soaring trees and rushing stream. The gourmet kitchen has every convenience, and there is a scenic dining area. The huge deck runs the length of the back of the house and overlooks the brook, connecting with all of the rooms on the upper level. There is also a large screened porch and swing. The downstairs family room opens to another lower deck and has its own fireplace and game table. The three wood fireplaces provide a cozy setting, and the hot tub in the master bath is soothing after a day of hiking or skiing.

About The Owner

Since my husband and I grew up in Texas, we have always yearned to be near trees and water. Finally we found the spot! I am a retired college teacher and administrator, and my husband is a minister and sculptor who has written 8 books. We enjoy having our family and friends at our home in Becket because we love the outdoors and the many cultural activities that are unique to the area. Our sons and grandchildren love fishing, boating, and swimming in our lake. The music at Tanglewood is my favorite. We enjoy traveling all of the U.S. including Hawaii, Europe, and Australia; but we always look forward to returning to Becket.

Why The Owner chose Becket

Formerly we owned a vacation house on Cape Cod, but the traffic became too much for us. Listening to the stream beside our house brings us great peace. The cultural offerings of the Berkshires can't be beat. We never run out of things to enjoy. Our house is incredibly comfortable and easy to maintain. It has every convenience one can imagine and is well stocked with supplies. You really only need to bring your clothes and fishing rod or skis.

What makes this house unique

We can be at our house with total privacy and yet can have all of the activity we choose very nearby. The small towns of Lee, Great Barrington, Stockbridge, and Lenox are charming and provide unlimited good eating, shopping, and entertainment. We particularly enjoy Chesterwood and the studio of Daniel C. French, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and the Clark Institute. We enjoy everything from classical music with the BSO to Celtic fiddle nearby. There is also an art center right in Becket, along with a country store and an old quarry for hiking.
