Great base camp

We stayed at Chickadee house for 5 nights at the end of the summer and loved its location- near Lake Placid, near Mt Marcy, and just down the road from the Diner and the Farm Market. It is very clean, Kinna and the caretaker were very helpful, and the kitchen was well-stocked for all the cooking we did. We swam at Coperas Pond, hiked up to the Flowed Lands at Mt Marcy, canoed on the Saranac Lakes (we saw Loons!) and shopped and lunched in Lake Placid. We loved getting fresh eggs and milk at the Farm Market. The house backs up to deep woods, so lots of birds, including the drumming of a Pileated Woodpecker. Mornings on the back deck are lovely. The only down side is the proximity to the highway, so lots of traffic sounds at peak traffic times. Great place to see wild life, we saw deer and fox driving in. Overall, a wonderful place.
