HISTORIC DISTRICT 1910 COLONIAL WITH WRAP-AROUND PORCH

Cambridge House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10 - 11)

NOTE: Nightly rates may vary based on length of stay.

A perfect location in Cambridge and the Eastern Shore for family, families, or a group of friends vacationing, or attending special events in Cambridge or nearby historic communities such as St. Michaels, Oxford and Easton. Cambridge was named the #10 Best Small Town in America for 2013 by Livability.

Our large, fully updated smoke-free home is located in the West End Historic District within walking distance of the downtown shops, restaurants, museums, Long Wharf Marina featuring the Choptank River Lighthouse and Great Marsh Park (riverfront park with picnic shelters, boat ramp, small sand beach and site of Eagleman Triathlon and IRONMAN Maryland). We are located just three blocks from the Choptank River, which offers outstanding boating, sailing and fishing off of the old Choptank River bridge.

You are welcomed to our gracious home by the wrap-around porch with a wicker swing and lots of wicker seating in the open area as well as a screened-in section with additional seating, a dining table and ceiling fans. The beautiful entryway is notable for its three story stairway with original chestnut wood details that continue throughout the home. The main floor includes an updated and equipped kitchen with island seating, a living room with pocket doors and a large dining room that features a table which opens up to nine feet for large groups. In addition there is a half bath with a full laundry.

The second floor offers three spacious bedrooms - two with queen beds and one with a double bed, an office and two fully updated baths, one of which is en suite. The bedroom with the en suite bath also has an alcove large enough for a playpen/crib. The third floor includes two charming bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with a double and a twin, and an updated bathroom.

The house features wireless high-speed internet and cable TV in the kitchen and living room, including a DVD player in the living room. The back yard is fenced in with a patio and small porch off the kitchen.

Cambridge is a charming “Main Street” community with great restaurants (many featuring local fresh seafood), unique shops and art galleries. Museums include the recently completed Harriet Tubman Museum and the Richardson Maritime Museum, as well as the Sailwinds Visitors’ Center with adjacent park and sandy beach.

The arts are well represented by the Dorchester Center for the Arts and many downtown art galleries. In addition, nearby towns offer attractions such as the excellent Maritime Museum in St. Michaels and the beautifully restored art-deco Avalon Theatre offering year-round live entertainment in Easton.

For nature lovers, Dorchester County abounds with opportunities for hiking, kayaking, cycling, bird watching, hunting and fishing. The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge offers all of these activities in one location, with a visitors center, an environmental education building and the second largest population of bald eagles on the East Coast.

For biking enthusiasts our home is conveniently located for you to participate in Blackwater Duathlon, CheapeakeMan Endurance Festival, Eagleman Ironman 70.3 Triathlon, Heart of Chesapeake Ride, Six Pillars Century Cycling Event, Trek in the Neck, Vineyard Dash, Wild Goose Chase Women’s Cycling Event and more events in Dorchester and surrounding counties.

Enjoy a leisurely sail on the Skipjack Nathan at Cambridge’s Long Wharf or head over to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina for a round on the links, boating and both fine and casual dining on the riverfront. Atlantic Ocean beaches are just an hour away.

We are empty nesters with a daughter in Brooklyn and a son in Boston. We live in central New Jersey, but our work gives us the flexibility to get away and enjoy the Eastern Shore.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

What drew us to Cambridge? The relaxed lifestyle of the community and surrounding Eastern Shore, with its extensive waterfront and natural rural areas, historic charm and friendly folks. The town has seen an influx of great restaurants and shops as it has undergone revitalization in recent years. And it offers quick access to other historic Eastern Shore towns and easy day trips to Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Atlantic beaches and Assateague Island. We also took the opportunity to buy and restore an antique cabin cruiser, fulfilling a long-time dream.

This beautifully appointed home has everything. Cribs, high chair, blow up beds, every kitchen gadget you can think of. When it snowed, we even found a snow show shovel. Lovely walk to the water and park as well as downtown shops and I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a spot in the Cambridge area.

By far this is the nicest property we rented for a quick get-away. The home is equipped with every possible item you could ask for. The grounds as well as the interior are immaculate. The owners have a binder that details all local interests. I would definitely rent the property again.

I travel a lot for business and just couldn't face a standard hotel room as we prepared for our son's wedding some 30 miles away on the shore. We loved the home and found it very clean and welcoming. My grandkids loved the swing on the front porch, and the 3 floors for hide and seek. Everything was great and Roger was very helpful with everything from ground transportation questions, places to go when the government was shut down, and suggested sites for dinner. May I add one suggestion -- we like the Cambridge Diner for breakfast. We loved this historic home and the area, and would stay there again.

The home is beautiful inside and out it is well-stocked. Though we only stayed a couple of nights, we wanted for nothing. The flexibility of the owners and their willingness to accommodate a last-minute rental request is what most impressed me. I brought my own bicycle, but if I hadn't, I would have used one of the 3 bikes available for guest use. I would recommend this home and I would certainly stay there again if I found myself in the Cambridge area again.

What a fabulous alternative to staying different rooms in hotels. We were together with family for 4 wonderful days and the home certainly felt like home.Just like description. Spotless, stocked, inviting, lots of rooms and porches. Owner was very helpful with tourist info. We felt at home all the way and we left it the way we found it so others could enjoy. Only bedding and towels to wash. Completed our perfect wedding with a perfect family reunion! Would highly recomend this home. Thank You.
