I am a local chiropractor. I moved here 9 years ago to be in the mountains where I can hike, bike, swim, kayak any time I want. I have 5 dogs that go everywhere with me, even when I rent somewhere else from VRBO! The towns of Cashiers, Highlands and Franklin are not only places where I work but places that I love.

OWNER purchased this house in 2005

I found this house on an internet site and immediately fell in love with its location and serenity. The breezes are hypnotic and the woods and mountains are a relaxing environment without being too far from anything. I love waking up to the sounds of the trees and smelling the soft fragrances of whatever wildflower is in bloom. The blackberries are ripe for picking in July to August and they are sweet and wonderful!

What I like most about my property is the seclusion, access to hiking and the proximity to my three favorite towns for shopping, entertainment and restaurants. The local community is wonderful, there are so many events to choose from whether you like music, arts, outdoor sports, you name it! Is just a great place with a great feel, come visit us!

GREAT HOUSE FOR GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
We got a group of friends together for the weekend and had a blast. House was very nice and it situated almost at the top of the mountain with a great view of the area. We had a great time, saw some nearby waterfalls, and went into the surrounding towns as well. Highly recommend this house for anybody staying in the area!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The owner is extremely helpful, thoughtful and professional. She provides an extremely clean, cozy, entertaining and comfortable getaway for a group of young professionals like us. We enjoyed BBQ on the porch, which became one of the memorable moment during our smoky mountain vacation.

THE PERFECT MOUNTAIN GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Catspaw. The listing was extremely accurate regarding the location of the cabin, and the photos accurately depicted the appearance of the property. I had several conversations with Sue prior to our arrival , and she was extremely helpful and prompt in responding to me. Upon our arrival at the cabin, it was extremely clean and ready for occupancy. There are many amenities in the cabin including numerous brochures regarding local attractions. If you are looking for "the true mountain experience", I strongly recommend this cabin. The cabin is fantastic and the scenery, including the gorgeous mountain views, is breath taking. I highly recommend this cabin to any adventure seekers, lovers of nature's beauty and for couples looking for a romantic getaway.

  • 4 of 5
This home was exactly as described and if you want a quiet mountain retreat, then this is the place for you !The amenities were correctly listed and we found the home in excellent shape and the furnishings were quite acceptable. If you like the NC mountains and some cool summer temperatures-this is the place to stay! If you enjoy quiet - you will find it at Catspaw.

REMOTE HAVEN

  • 5 of 5
As others have described, this property is very remotely located (yet has neighbors), requires a substantial drive up a narrow mountain road, but is heaven on earth once you arrive. The home is equipped with all the essentials to make your stay comfy and pleasant. The screened patio was a favorite of our family and we spent many hours there enjoying the gorgeous mountain views, playing games, sipping an adult beverage, just being together, and laughing at the squabbles of the hummingbirds. You will want to complete your grocery list on your way there as this is not a place where you will be making a quick run for a forgotten grocery item. We usually left morning to midday for either Cashiers, Highlands, or Franklin and did our "thing" in those areas...from July 4 activities, to hiking, to fishing, to toddler playground fun, to shopping, to enjoying a lunch or ice cream treat. Then, once we returned we stayed put, enjoying the home and the surrounding beauty. We prepared many of our evening meals ourselves rather than go into town again...and it was lovely. The meat and fish (although pricey) at the Cashiers Ingles was absolutely wonderful...and a variety of fresh local veggies were available at many locations. Sue was most accommodating. She responded quickly to all of our queries with superb information from where to purchase fishing licenses to where we could locate a fun playground (Cashiers at the Village Green area). The cabin is well-stocked with local maps and guide books for you to browse, games, novels, and music cd's. Bring a tarp for your car as all trash must be hauled to one of the many local transfer stations (most all rentals require this). Be prepared to enjoy comfy beds, nice bathrooms, a large well-stocked kitchen, great screened in porch area, ample firewood for the fireplace, and lovely surroundings. Bring your computer...as cell phone coverage was sketchy. Our texting usually worked, depending on the weather. (It rained ALOT while we were there...unusual amounts of rain.) Thanks, Sue, for sharing your wonderful home!
