We booked this place as our previous favourite was not available for our dates. It had the noisiest a/c I have experienced for 30 years when I lived in the undeveloped Middle East and is on a very busy road. If you have no hire car you will have to walk on this road to get to the bus stop or restaurants and you take your life in your hands. The fridge had not even been turned on for our arrival from the airport so we had to put drinks/food into a warm fridge. We were hoping you could walk along the beach. Sadly, the beach has eroded so this was not possible either. But this is so with many of Barbados' beaches which have eroded away. The place is outdated and there was no-one else staying there not surprisingly in the other apartments. It bills itself as a budget property, but is still expensive for what you get. We had hoped to eat on the sun terrace but it was too noisy in the evenings to enjoy it. The only nice thing about this property is the staff, who I feel sorry for. It is misrepresented on the website as there simply is no beach to enjoy. If it was described in a more up-to-date manner, perhaps people could take the decision themselves to use it as a base and be out all day and evening [if they could sleep through the noisy a/c]. We were reimbursed for a majority of our deposit but I do hope the owner updates the description soon.
Owner's Response: I feel we have been lucky to have some of the best guest ever; many have become friends and repeat customers even several times a year. Unfortunately we do get guest with unrealistic expectations or just lie to try and get an additional discount or money. The guest arrived and didn't like the property, stated that one member just had ear surgery and was very sensitive to any road noise. After staying just one night, I happily agreed to full refund (less the one night) and wished the guest a speedy recovery. A couple weeks later I received an email asking for $500 more money that the 100% refund or they would write a terrible review. Of course, I am not going to be blackmailed and said no.
The beach was eroded when the guest arrived but this is out of my control and several times a year, a storm or heavy seas takes away the sand and it takes time for it to recover. This happens to all properties in Barbados at some time. Although we didn't have much or just a little beach in front of the property just several houses north the beach was much wider and more suitable for sun bathing.
When the guest arrived we had a nicer apartment available and gave them the option for a free upgrade. They said yes and we moved them to a bigger, quieter apartment thus the fridge had not been turned on in preparation for the guest. It only took a quick 30 - 45 minutes to start getting cool. In the meantime the property manager Paulina went out of her way and took the guest shopping because they had waited to the last minute to get a rental car and none were available on the island.
The guest only stayed 1 night, not much time to get to know the other guest in the apartments. 2 of the 3 apartments and the beach front villa on the property were booked. Guessing they just decided not to mingle with the other guest which of course is their right but to say the property was empty during the busiest month of February is a lie.
We offer clean, well equipped, safe apartments on a property that is beach side at an affordable rate. Most guest leave happy but you can't always please everyone and my property manager goes out of her way to accommodate and make guest happy.
