The open and well equipped kitchen and newly remodeled bathroom with W/D makes living a breeze and playing a reality. Wood-burning fireplace adds charm and warmth throughout the vaulted-ceiling great room. Open the slider in summer and enjoy the breeze. Watch the continuous display of wildlife, the kids frolic in the lake, BBQ'ing in summer or fish-like-crazy just off the deck. Enjoy easy access to hiking, canoeing, boating; swim to Pine Beach Picnic area, easy 0.5 mi. walk to Trail Ridge Public Boat Marina. A great escape!

Staying at the Three Woods Cabin was a fantastic long weekend for my family. The way the cabin is situated, you get entirely unobstructed views to the north, east and south as you look out from the deck over Shadow Mountain Lake. Quick trips to Grand Lake or into Rocky Mountain National Park give you lots of options of what to do. I have two small children, so the modern amenities of having a full kitchen, washer and dryer, shower with additional hand held sprayer (great for cleaning of the little ones), tv/vcr/dvd and lots of room to play provided us with the best of both worlds - beautiful outdoor experiences and all the indoor comforts you could need. We are already planning our next visit and feel like we found the best getaway around!!

The place to go for R&R

Hubby and I went up to get away and have some peace and quiet. This cabin is what we needed. The cabin itself was wonderful and cozy. The views of the lake were gorgeous and to be outside on the deck to listen to the peaceful sounds of it all were amazing. The owners were also wonderful. They answered all are questions quickly and in great detail also offering information and great ideas and kept us well informed at all times. The cabin has everything you need to just pack and go. The fireplace was my favorite. The sounds and smell of the fire is so relaxing and toasty warm with the wonderful views of the lake and wildlife right there while you relax in the livingroom. The local people and shops were so friendly and helpful the food up there was excellent. We have already started making plans to take our girls up next time. And yes there will be a next time!! Thanks for the fabulous getaway Tammy

Beautifully Maintained, Idyllic Setting

Wow, I could not have been more pleased! My husband and I have stayed in the Grand Lake area many times for the snowmobiling and snowshoeing, and this was by far the best cabin in which we've stayed. The view of the lake from the deck is incredible. The cabin is cozy and warm, the furnishings perfect and location is great.
Most cabins we've stayed in were built at the turn of the century as summer cabins only (read, very thin outter walls). Although this cabin was built many years ago, it has log style outter walls and has been very well kept. This makes for warm cozy winter stays and protection from the summer heat! The cabin sits 10 feet from the lake, which is about as close as you can get.
The separate bedroom (for the grown ups) was comfortable and appreciated. Upstairs are four bunk beds for the kids in a large loft (enough room for them to play up there too). The kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, stove and microwave (a lot of the old cabins just have a burner or two), which was a welcome change.
The only negative I can think of was the shower (it was dark and small), but I've heard the owners are changing the bathroom around to fix this.
All in all, we had a great stay over New Year's weekend. And, we could watch the Grand Lake fireworks from the deck (they set them off over the lake)!!
