Having spent days perusing travel brochures and internet links searching for the perfect location to celebrate my 40th, my wife and I stumbled across this property and what a find !
The location is perfect for exploring the sites of Kent set back from the road and accessed by a private gated driveway within its own gardens would be a perfect and safe place for children to play (we left ours at home this time).
The views from the upper lounge/bedroom are fabulous looking out along the white cliffs towards dover and into the English channel, the old Folkestone harbour below, a great place to enjoy breakfast whatever the weather and a real treat to stay in, a bit bright first thing in the morning though the blinds could be improved.
The two other bedrooms are also exceptional and the living accomodation is excellent and would comfortably accomodate 6 adults, share the pleasure with friends and split the cost.
The log burner in the living area and the comfortable settee is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or the balcony seat to catch the afternoon sun.
Our favourite was the upper lounge just enjoying the view.
There is a restaurant within easy walking distance 5 mins away although we didnt try this one, if your up for a walk turn left out of the driveway and walk up past Martello tower no 1 (currently being renovated) take the footpath up the hill to the "Valiant Sailor Public House and restaurant", fantastic open fire and a great welcome, the food was good as was the ale and not overpriced friendly staff and landlord and a beer garden for those warmer days about a 20 min brisk walk but worth it !
Turning right from the drive walk along the beach front into the old harbour a few nice pubs and restaurants here or up into the main town centre for more choice.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for something a bit special, this is and we will be back, have to take the kids next time though.
Martin & Wendy
