Keywords: Large four bedroom , two bath redwood chalet with large stone fireplace and jacuzzi tub, Granite country kitchen with serving bar. Screened porch, star grazing deck, Perfect for multi-generational families.
Two professional educators built this house for our family vacations and recently renovated it for our future retirement home. New carpet, granite kitchen and many amenities are your gain. Many of our renters come back year after year ( up to three generations). The house was named 'Niblick' by Martha's Scottish father. Niblick means 'short iron' because we are a short distance to two golf greens. Our location on the golf course gives us lovely unobstructed views of the GW National Forest mountain range for the ultimate mountain feel. The house has spurred many creative endeavors for us and groups we have served - as well as being a great place to just relax.
Martha purchased this chalet in 1976
Bryce is a lovely four season resort and our home is updated with granite kitchen and great porches and a million dollar view. Watch the golfers from our hammock or screened porch. You can walk to the lodge (7 minutes), golf shop, mini golf, rock wall, zip wire and bike course from our house (teens run back and forth). We are so central to the resort yet peacefully private that it is the best of both worlds. Short drive (1 mile) from Lake Laura for boating and swimming. We love the beautiful well maintained golf course as it winds through the view. Hiking in nearby George Washington National Forest. Only two hours from DC but feels like a world away. The Shenandoah Valley has so many places to explore.
The large glass windows help you enjoy the spectacular views from this house. Enjoy the jacuzzi tub, picnic on our screened porch or star gaze (amazing night sky). Not a more beautiful view in the whole resort from floor to ceiling windows. Separated bedrooms and spaciousness for two families or multiple generations. Two large flat screen TVs - one in each living area.
Wonderful home. Stocked with everything you could need!
Love Bryce, wonderful place for families. Would definitely go again!
Niblick House is a great vacation spot within 2 hours of DC. Located in the Bryce Resort, where there are lots of activities for young and old, the house has two great living areas where the group can gather. The owners have spent time making the vacation home inviting and have outfitted the house with lots of games and anything you might need in the kitchen. The main living area has comfy furniture and a spectacular mountain and golf course view. The beds are comfortable and the spiral staircase is fun. We had a great family get together there. I'm sure it is nice for the fall leaves and ski season also! The owner was lovely to deal with. We hope we can make it back some tine! We had a great family style dinner at Shrinemont at Orkney Springs and stopped for peaches at Paugh's orchard nearby.
Loved the chalet with amazing view and lots of board games and amenities provided in the house.
We had a great weekend at Niblik! Wonderful location to see the resort and be close to all of our friends. The home was cozy, clean and exactly as described.
We had the most wonderful time at the Niblick. We went with my parents and our two boys - ages 3 and 5. It had a great set up for us all to sleep upstairs, but you could have had 6-8 more people sleeping downstairs. The house has everything you need to enjoy your stay - we cooked every meal (we brought groceries/charcoal and the remaining things we needed were provided in the owners pantry) It was clean, comfy and so charming... The misty morning mountain views were amazing and it was so quiet all day. The resort's restaurant and ski lodge were just a minute away and coffee and convenience items were available right across from the resort at the red store. The lake is beautiful and serene - we were able to use the drop off point to take my Dad who has a hard time with climbing, making it user friendly for everyone. We swam and paddle boated - they had everything you would need for a fun filled day. The pool behind the convenience store is also perfect for families - clean and refreshing - we went there every afternoon to cool off, and it was free :) We enjoyed the civil war history and museums in the area and were so impressed at the variety of things to do all within 20-30 mins. We could certainly have stayed a week and never run out of fun things to do and see. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the boys had a wonderful time and not once said they were bored :) Martha is a pleasure to work with and we definitely would like to return for another trip - hopefully a longer one next time!
When we arrived at the house, the weather wasn't ideal but the warmest and feeling of the house made us not care about the weather.
Before we arrived I asked Martha many questions about what we could do nearby in case we needed to find something fun for the children and she gave me many suggestions.. but we didn't need to worry about anything. My boys spent a whole day in the game room with the Wii Sports and my teenage daughter enjoyed the full speed internet while my friends and I had a lovely time in front of the fire in the big stone fireplace.
One of the things we appreciated was that the furniture and housewares were of the quality that homeowners choose for their own .. not cheap stuff people sometimes provide in just rental houses. The kitchen was fully equipped down to every utensil and even spices and staples so we could cook there easily.
I appreciated that the owners refunded our full security deposit even though it happened we broke a cup and the fireplace damper and caused issues with the internet resulting in an extra service trip which undoubtedly cost them money. I appreciated Martha's graciousness and would definitely rent from her again.
It is a lovely area and we look forward to going back and exploring in the sunny weather.
The home is central to all Bryce Resort amenities. Close to Shenandoah Caverns and other caverns, American Celebration Museum, covered bridge and many Civil War sites along Route 11. A perfect place from which to explore the Shenandoah Valley any season of the year.
