Maine-et-Loire Vacation Rental farmhouse: Panreux, Montreuil Bellay

We were absolutely delighted with the gite. The accommodation was spacious, spotless, comfortable and very well equipped. The owners (next door) were so friendly and helpful and have gone to great lengths to ensure that holiday makers have a good time. We really appreciated the use of the bikes - there were 4 adult bikes and an assortment of children's bikes available for use. There are lots of quiet country lanes to bike around and it is easy to bike into Montreuil-Bellay, the nearest town. We enjoyed playing badminton and swingball in the large garden where there was also a swing, a trampoline and plenty of space to play with a football. The owners have just invested in an above ground swimming pool which was great to cool down in and float around on. We didn't get round to using the fitness room which is available for those over the age of 16 - we seemed to run out of time! The hens at the bottom of the garden provided entertainment for our teenage daughters who now want to build a coop in our garden.

It is difficult to appreciate from the exterior photo the tranquility of the setting. We found the situation of the gite and the whole area very relaxing. We were only at the gite for 1 week but we visited the chateau at Villandry, looked round Saumur and Chinon (lovely old towns - both with chateaux), went canoeing on the River Thouet at Montreuil-Bellay, went cycling, visited a market in Thouars and thoroughly enjoyed a visit to an exceptionally good zoo (and I didn't think I liked zoos!) which was only a short drive away, and we spent the rest of the time relaxing.

I would definately recommend this gite and would love to visit again one day. Although we are a family with two teenage girls who enjoyed the gite, I can imagine that the gite would also appeal to families with younger children as parents would find that there was plenty to occupy them both inside (there was a toybox with games) and outside.
