Quiet Location not the Accomodation

We were very impressed by the location up in the hills and the promise of peace and quiet. It is important to be aware that the accommodation is part of the owners house. The studio is in an 'L' shape with the TV room of the owners at one end and a room with 3 upright freezers and 2 chest freezers at the other. There is NO physical separation ie wall. Instead there are raffia curtains and muslin drapes. Therefore the reality was that we could hear all conversations and the television constantly, I mean constantly. We were able to identify each program. Interestingly we had no television, though it was advertised as having such. At the other end the continuous switching and humming of the freezers was just apalling, especially since the rear of them were facing our living area. Now, when you arrive and see that this is the situation where do you start in explaining that this is not acceptable? Ask them to build a wall while you are there? Ask them to stop watching television? Switch the freezers off? Of course not, we had paid for the accommodation and we just had to make the best of it. However, if I had KNOWN that this was the situation I clearly would not have booked. So if you really feel you can cope with the above (and the 3 dogs yelping and barking thru the night) then go ahead. They are very nice people. But I genuinely don't believe this is suitable for renting out. If they build walls then fine. We were quite ragged by the end of our trip which is s shame as Zante and the location is truly memorable. Just hope this helps.
Owner's Response: Its has come as a bit of a shock to receive this review as we have only had nice comments and reviews in the past. By its definition a studio is always going to be only part of building and not a secluded villa.
We did have plans in place to build a dividing wall, at the end of the studio kitchen area last season, but due to the bookings, we were not able to finalise this. We are in the process of doing this now, so it will be done by next season.
It would have been more beneficial to these guests and ourselves, if they had mentioned these comments when we saw them each day and enquired is everything alright, as we would have made a great effort to rectify, within our power, whatever problems they had had, no matter what they were.
We were sorry that the holiday did not come up to these guests expectations, but I would reiterate what I have said above that the accommodation, island and location has only previously had good reviews and I would like to add that, however unfortunate it is that this father and son in question did not enjoy their holiday, and it is most upsetting to us, I do not believe that it is a true reflection of all our other holiday makers - as can be seen by all the other excellent reviews.
