Photos and Description of the Bedar vacation rental Self-catering villa - views to mountains, sea. Quiet area, 15 mins to beach

Our rustic Spanish self catering holiday rental home enjoys an elevated position at the edge of the village with almost uninterrupted views down to the coast. Ground floor accommodation has level access to all areas, being a spacious entrance hall with seating area, kitchen and utility room, large Spanish style lounge/dining room with an open fireplace-very cosy in the colder months, two shower rooms and one twin bedded room. The ensuite has a third shower room, two large comfortable (90x200cm) beds for use as twin beds or a kingsize one. Up the spiral staircase is the third letting room- it also has large comfortable twin beds as in the ensuite room and lots of character with rustic beams hence it is known as the Rafter Room. This room can also be made up as required with twin beds or one kingsize bed. Outside is a large paved patio and a gravel garden with trees providing welcome shade in the hotter months. A good place to play boule too, or petanque as it is known in Spain.

Mojacar beach (playa) is only a 15 minute drive away for those seeking bars, shops and entertainment.Small villages nearby provide open markets, supermarkets and restaurants with excellent tapas and lovely seafood. Four golf courses are within a short car drive from the villa. Other places to visit include Mini Hollywood where 'shootouts' occur - so I have been told. Clint Eastwood filmed his Spaghetti Westerns there. Sorbas is interesting for pottery and caving, Nijar also for pottery and jarapas - the local style of rugs as used in our villa. Cabo de Gata Natural Park is a world renowned protected area of desert land and marine environment. It has unusual plants, lots of birds and is great for walking. San Jose is an attractive village on the coast within the park, and has a number of beachside restaurants. Cuevas de Almanzora is home to some unusual cave houses, reputedly warm in winter and cool in summer. Lots to see and do so come and explore!

Perfect time for our family

We´ve been in El Pinar twice this year, both times in Casa del Horno (which is how the house is called). It is situated at the entrance of the village on top of a hill with a stunning view over the valley and hills and towards the see - which, given the sky is clear, you can see from the patio. The layout was great for us, travelling with two little children and an au pair. While the au pair had a separate bedroom up the stairs, our bedrooms were all on the same level next to each other. Bathrooms are plenty: three, one per bedroom should be just fine. The house is privately owned, which you can see - it feels like you come to stay in someones home. There is all you need and more. We enjoyed also the pool, which is big and deep enough to really swim in it. A huge plus.
There are nice places to visit within an hours drive, we suggest the pottery in Nijar, the caves of Sorbas, Mini-Hollywood Oasys (a theme park with a great western city and a zoo and pool) and definitely Agua Armaga, a small fisher village nested by the beach with fabulous beach-front restaurants. Perfect for any kind of seafood. We´ll be back.

Great space, convenient location

Went in August for my husbands birthday with another couple. Home from home with all mod cons, clean, spacious, best for chilling out holiday. Would be good for slightly older kids who can be trusted around a deep pool and spiral staircase, and people with mobility issues as everything is on the ground floor expect one bedroom upstairs. Spent most days lying around reading and messing about in the pool (as sometimes the beach was too windy), watching the boys play darts and boules in the garden, making BBQ food and drinking Rioja! Long drive to Granada, but can be done there and back in a day. Car is a must. British owned restaurant one minute walk. Great clubs on the beach including Pacha, restaurants on Mojaca Playa open till late, negotiate with your taxi driver for a better fare back to the house. Flea market and artists at Mojaca Pueblo and a natural spring to fill up drinking water containers if you prefer that to tap water. Check what days local produce markets run for great fresh produce. Nijar is a little village nearby, a mecca for spending all yours Euros on clothes, paintings, pottery, rugs - either typical local crafts or imports from North Africa.
