Photos and Description of the Lostwithiel vacation cottage rental
Self Catering, exceptionally well equipped, four bedrooms, sleeps 2 to 8 (+cot)

Lin and Rob invite you to share a 'Wind in the Willows' Experience, stroll along the river bank through National Trust and private woodlands; spot Egrets and Kingfishers; take to the water in our rowing boat “Lady’s Maid”; see fish jumping; cross the river using the stepping stones; feed (puddle)ducks from the shore; catch crabs from the quay, net tiddlers from the shallows, picnic on the riverbank or beside the river on the village green.

Lerryn is a magical place, peacefully nestling in a lovely tree lined river valley. A small friendly, picturesque riverside village, Lerryn is set in a conservation area within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Puddleduck is only a few yards from the river, the popular Ship Inn and our excellent local Post Office/General Stores and riverside village green. This character cottage has much charm, with low ceilings, exposed beams, natural wood and stripped pine features. It is fully furnished and equipped to a high standard.

? The cottage was a brilliant place to stay. Had all the facilities that we required. The cottage is clean, tidy and well maintained. The surroundings are nice and people are friendly in the village. We recommend the pub on this road – a very welcoming place. Finally feels like we are back in Britain. [JUNE 2012]

? Had such a fun time here in Puddleduck Cottage. It was really fun. Love the garden and the stream by the river. Thank you soooo much. Fantastic cottage, love Lady’s Maid. The pub is fantastic and river is good fun, but watch the tide time! Polkerris Beach is great if you want to take some boats out. Little Lantic was our favourite but not for little people. Most of the time we just walked... breathtaking.[AUGUST 2012]

Thanks! Puddleduck Cottage has been very much “home” from the moment we arrived to the moment we’ll leave. Well-appointed, thoughtful, homely and WARM! Maybe we’ll use the boat next time........and count the ducks! [February 2010]

Last minute booking – 9pm the night before arriving! Supposed to be flying to Gran Canaria but all flights cancelled due to Icelandic volcano – but who needs the Canaries when we have this lovely place. Plus the sun is shining! What a lovely comfy place Puddleduck is. Lots of good walks, handy for Heligan & Eden Project. The pub is a bonus too. Very pleased this was available – lucky us! [April 2010]

There were 5 in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. It was very well cleaned with an excellent kitchen, very well equipped with everything, and nice to be welcomed with tea & biscuits, we felt it was very much home from home. The area is beautiful with lots of walks, and the shop has a good range of food. I have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful cottage & hope to return. [May 2010]

We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Puddleduck and Lerryn. A really well equipped cottage, making it home from home. Plenty of room for the whole family. Everyone around here is so pleasant & courteous. Lerryn is just a piece of paradise. Especially loved the boat “Lady’s Maid”. We’ll come again if we can. [June 2010]

Our second visit to Puddleduck. We all enjoyed a lovely week staying here. Instead of driving around a lot whilst here, we used the train twice – to Newquay and St Ives. Both were pleasant experiences – no trying to find a car space; no scenic but narrow lanes to navigate and very cheap fares, as 4 adults we were charged a group fare. Walked to St Winnow and enjoyed a lovely cream tea & bacon roll from Angie’s! Do hope we return. [July 2010]

We had lots of fun here. The location is great and we recommend the pub. We love it here. [August 2010]

Wonderful time here in many ways. A beautiful spot – full of atmosphere! Blessed with the weather too when the rest of the country was being deluged with rain. A magical holiday! [September 2010]

Had a truly fantastic time in a ‘Land that time forgot’! Many thanks. [October 2010]

“Lovely week. Recommend Lanhydrock, Lost gardens of Heligan, Eden Project. Didn’t make it into the boat, maybe next time? Thank you for a lovely stay, see you next year!” [May 2009]

“Fantastic couple of days relaxing in the beautiful garden and by the river. Everything you need is here, better than we expected!” [June 2009]

“We’ve had a fab week in a wonderful cottage and everything we need! So great to be able to use the boat which the kids loved! Had a stick race from the bridge to stepping stones, where we all waited to see which had won! Only two (out of 8) made it! Lovely locals + village. THANK YOU!!!!” [August 2009]

“There is such a warm feeling about this lovely house & area. We ventured out only 3 times, further afield, as Lerryn has so much to offer & the shop & pub are so friendly!! LOVE LIFE HERE.” [September 2009]

“Our most relaxing holiday ever! A warm, roomy and well equipped cottage in a lovely part of the country. We were given a friendly greeting from the owner, helped by the wine and biscuits that were waiting for us in the cottage! Lerryn is a lovely, relaxed village with a well stocked shop and decent pub which is ideally located for exploring a lovely part of Cornwall. We would be more than happy to recommend the cottage to anyone.” [September 2009]

“Puddleduck Cottage is well kitted out with all you need for a weekend break or a longer stay. The kitchen was especially helpful and efficient, but mind the low headroom!. A practiced lady cook must have inspired this domain! The bedrooms are spacious, but only one had a sink. The bathrooms were neat and tidy, though the shower tests the 6 foot+ user. In fact, if you think it through then what small deficiencies you encounter are but aspects of living in a cottage. If you want perfection then the charm of a cottage is not for you. Puddleduck Cottage is the genuine charming article.
The location is wonderful, but you need to be a respectful and patient driver to reach it. The landscape and riverbanks will induce that respect in you should you need it. All in all, Puddleduck is a treasure whose blessings can be shared at a modest cost for a family holiday.” [October 2009]
