The location of this stunning home cannot be believed. Located right on a long sandy beach, 30 feet from high tide, with views of Hornby, Texada, and Lasquiti Islands. Great for a walk in bare feet while enjoying the salt air or taking it all in from the new hot tub. Or, you could get out your fishing rod and enjoy fishing on what is arguably the best fishing beach in the area. Arrowsmith Golf Course, an exec 18 hole course is five minutes away. Just 300 meters away is a pub with food and live music as well as another restaurant. An easy walk, no need to drive after enjoying a cool one.

Between Nile Creek and Big Qualicum River, this is one of the best fishing beaches on the coast. There are numerous golf courses within 30 minutes, including Arrowsmith and Memorial Golf Courses.

Thank you for making your home available to us for an early spring vacation. It was wonderful to see the trees in bloom, green grass, and daffodils growing everywhere. We were completely comfortable in this rental with everything we needed. The waterfront view was amazing where we enjoyed watching island wildlife. We loved the area as it is located in a small community with just a short drive to larger centres.
We have rented properties off of VRBO for 6 years running and this property, by far, was the best we have experienced. The photos accurately depict the home and the beach. Everything was as promised and in wonderful condition. The property has been recently renovated and most aspects of the home are new and everything is in great shape. The bed was super comfortable and the amenities (TV, internet etc.) were wonderful. Many properties say beach front but often the access to the beach involves steep inclines, climbing over large rocks and requires someone to be extremely agile to get down to the beach. The access to the beach is easy and in low tide, there is a great sandy beach area to enjoy.
Everything was very clean and there were lots of dishes and cookware options. The view was amazing and sitting on the deck made you forget everything but the ocean in front of you. The hot tub is large and clean and a wonderfully soothing way to start or end the day.
The owners obviously take pride in their home and provide a great manual giving you all the information you need to stay in their beautiful house. All of our questions were answered when making the reservation and there was no issues in making payment or gaining access to the home.
I would recommend this property to anyone interested in staying in the Qualicum area. It is a short drive to Bowser or Qualicum Beach where there are great restaurants and fun shopping and there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance as well. We will most likely be renting this property again. 5 stars for certain!
I am a writer by profession but this home leaves me lost for words. Stunning. Incredible. The best vacation home we've ever rented (and we've travelled a lot). What you will enjoy: An expansive view of the ocean from almost every room. The chance to soak in a hot tub while watching bald eagles, seals and hummingbirds. Beachcombing from your doorstep. Modern furnishings and an incredible kitchen. A short drive to lots of tourist attractions, including the family-friendly Parksville and incomparable Cathedral Grove.
The moment you open the door to this beautiful beach house you will be amazed. It is tastefully appointed with art, furniture and has all the comforts of home. Also, it is very clean and well maintained. Owners have left a great binder with all the instructions for the appliances, hot tub and many other details. The kitchen is outstanding! As a couple who loves to cook we enjoyed all the modern appliances it had to offer and its expansiveness. The views of the ocean from all rooms beach side of the home are beautiful. We enjoyed the morning sunrises and the changing colours of the ocean and sky as the sun set.
Walks every morning during low tide provided plenty of photo opportunities of beach life; Star fish, sand dollars, crabs and birds! The level of comfort from beds to bathrooms exceeded our exceptations.
Evening soaks in the hot tub where the perfect way to end a day of touring the island. We visited Catherdal Grove, Port Alberni, Comox and Campbell River. Great shopping in Qualicum Beach or Parksville.
The week we rented, the lower rental unit was unoccupied. I would & have told others about how much we liked the place and would rent it again if returning to the area.
My husband, 2 year old, and I could not have enjoyed our vacation at this home in Qualicum Bay more. From the moment I walked in the door I relaxed right away; the view of the water, listening to the waves, and smelling the salty sea air puts one immediately in "vacation mode."
The house is exactly what the listing described and even more. It was very recently redone and is immaculately clean. A number of the features are listed in the posting but there are also dimmer lights in every room, a beautifully landscaped front yard, and an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed. I'm very picky when it comes to beds, and I slept great the whole week. It was wonderful to be able to prepare a dinner in the kitchen or BBQ, enjoy the scenery with the windows open, relax on the deck and in the hot tub, and then sleep so well.
The owners were very helpful in answering questions and were more than accommodating when it came to some issues with mail delivery. We unintentionally arrived a bit early and they graciously showed us around the home and let us in on the best spots to go for groceries and lunch.
One thing that surprised us was the beach right outside the house. My husband said it best when he said, "It's alive." Being from Oregon we have beautiful beaches, but this was really special. Our daughter was delighted every day seeing crabs, sand dollars, starfish, tiny herring, jellyfish, hermit crabs, sea otter every evening, and even bald eagles swooping down for a fish!
We could have filled more than a week visiting other spots in the area. We especially enjoyed hiking around Englishman River Falls, Cathedral Grove, Rathtrevor Beach, and Little Qualicum Falls. We missed out on Horne Lake Caves because children must be 5 years old to visit, but we hear it is a must-see. Perhaps when we return one day we can stay at this comfortable, relaxing home again and explore more of this beautiful area.

The last two provide day trips to the magnificent Sandy Island Marine Provincial Park (also known as Tree Island) http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/sandy_is/ which we highly recommend or launch the kayak at the beach at Qualicum Bay, a nice semi-rural community. Close to Island Scallops (www.islandscallops.com), Fanny Bay Oysters, excellent oysters and seafood there are a number of places where you can buy fresh fish.
There are excellent farmer's markets at Qualicum Beach, 15 minutes drive, http://qbfarmersmarket.com/; in Errington, 20 minutes drive, erringtonfarmersmarket.ca; and Comox Valley Farmers Market in Courtenay, 30 minutes drive, http://www.comoxvalleyfarmersmarket.com/. All run on Saturday mornings, so if you want some fresh produce prior to checking in at 4 pm - these are great places to visit. There is a very excellent grocery store in Qualicum Beach (Quality Foods) and a good grocery store (Tomm's) at Bowser, 4 minutes north of the house. Bowser also has shops for liquor, gas, hardware, art, gifts, credit union, library and post office.
You will take BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/mainland/hbna-current.html
or from Tsawwassen to Duke Point, arriving fifteen minutes south of Nanaimo, http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/mainland/tsdp-current.html
These are current schedules, but it's good to check as the schedule can change. We recommend that you make a reservation as in the summer the ferries can get booked which can mean waiting for the next ferry. Once in Nanaimo - you take Highway 19A . We recommend 19A as it is the older route that follows the coast, slower but more scenic and takes about one hour or more. Highway 19, the freeway, takes 45 minutes and you use the Horne Lake, Spider Lake exit and drop down to 19A, Island Highway West, and left (north-west) for aprox., three miles to Qualicum Bay.
We are located at Qualicum Bay ... on the ocean side. The best landmark is the Crown and Anchor Roadhouse Pub on the other side of the road about 200 meters from the house. The pub has good local music (bluegrass, country, acoustic etc) and the food is pretty decent. The Sandbar Café, 300 meters is a pleasant restaurant with live music jams several nights a week and Henry’s Kitchen a Chinese restaurant near by. A burger stand, taco stand and ice cream shop open for the summer in the same area.
