Great Holiday in Cornwall!

  • 5 of 5
This was our first stay in Cornwall; even the UK and what can I say? - It was just beautiful. Wren Cottage is a very nice stay. The whole place is well equipped and everything you need is provided. Beds are max. comfortable. I had the most quiet sleeps for a long time. :)
Everybody we met and talked to were very friendly and helpful. Pubs up and down the road (The Earl of Chatham & The Globe Inn) have good food and drinks at reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Taste a pint of "Doom"; that's my favorite!
We walked to Restormel Castle and Lahnydrock House. Both of them are must sees! Check out all the flyers at the Cottage. They'll give you some good suggestions on what to see in the area. Fowey is a very nice place, too. Check out the Hall Walk there! Cream Tea at "The Lifebuoy Cafe" was delicious!
Our favorite place of the holiday however was St. Ives. You can easily get there by train from Lostwithiel. It's a one hour ride; return ticket for three adults = 18,75£. Beautiful sea side town with that certain something... maybe our next stay at Cornwall?! :) BUT however we certainly recommend Cornwall, Lostwithiel & Wren Cottage to anybody interested in the southwestern part of the UK.
Thank you & cheers,
Markus, Sandra & Lauren.

  • 5 of 5
had great holiday at this lovely cottage, it had a great pub across the road which had fantastic food at a reasonable price. the cottage was central point to get to all local attractions, you must visit Fowey it is a beautiful little town about 5 miles away meals in the Gallion inn were fab.
The cottage was very clean and warm and was well appointed it had everything you need for a comfy stay, the beds were very comfy and clean . if i had to have one small negative, the second bedroom was a bit short on space, but we managed.
The owner Pat was very welcoming and gave us updates on the area.
in the town centre the Chinese take away was fantastic, and the meals in the royal oak were beautiful (great fish and chip shop open 4 pm till 9 pm ) be prepared to wait as locals get served first .kings head in the town was a friendly , homely pub. will defiantly return to this lovely place

Great cottage

  • 5 of 5
Pat was a great host and prepared everything for us beforehand. The cottage is very cosy and warm and was spotless on arrival. Pat left us some information sheets which were valuable for the area. The town is small but houses two good pubs for food (one right opposite called the Earl of Chatham and the other a short 5 min walk called The Globe). There is a local Coop about 5 min walk away, and a small river and children's play area about 4 min walk away. Padstow is a 40 minute drive, the Eden project is 10 minutes drive and the Lost Gardens of Helligan is 30 minutes away. Parking is free outside. A perfect base to explore Cornwall.

Lovely cottage, great quiet location. Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
Wren Cottage had everything we needed for a week in this wondeful area. The cottage is cosy, clean and well equipped. Don't go expecting a massive house, this is a character small cottage afterall - all part of the charm of course - but it's big enough, the main double bedroom in particular is bigger than a lot we've stayed in. It's also well furnished and has just about everything you need with all home comforts. And there are some nice individual touches as well - we loved the Ducks sitting along the beams in the lounge/dining room! There is an outside seating/eating area on a terrace in the garden, sadly we only used this once due to the weather.
The cottage is in a fabulous location in Lostwithiel, with a great pub literally just up the road. Real ale fans will appreciate the range of St Austell ales and everyone will enjoy the food and very friendly service which were excellent. But it's not at all noisy, far from it, we all slept like logs all week. You will here the occaisonal (slow moving or stopping) train at the level crossing about 5 mins walk away. There's a station so you can get the train to Truro/Penzance or Plymouth.
And, the owner was very helpful, courteous, friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I have no reservations in recommending the cottage to anybody, we would certainly stay there again. Thank you Patricia.

Really, just a great place to stay. A lovely cozy cottage with everything provided. It was clean and well-kept and we were extremely well looked after. Our questions were answered quickly and there was lots of information provided about the local area. Would definitely stay here again.
