Photos and Description of the Sennen vacation farmhouse rental
A self-catering rental with three ensuite bedrooms minutes from the sands

Esther's Field is a 17th-century granite house with thatched roof set into the hillside above the beautiful white sands of Sennen Cove with fantastic views of the beach and sea from almost every window. Recently completely refurbished, it has 3 bedrooms (all with large beds and Egyptian cotton bedlinen), 3 bathrooms, two sitting rooms (both with wood-burning stoves and TV and DVD) and spacious farmhouse kitchen with Rayburn. The house sits in an acre of private garden with many exotic plants and a summer house full of garden furniture. You can walk down to the beautiful white sands of the cove (lovely little shops and restaurants) in a few minutes: fabulous for swimmers and surfers too. The house also sits a minute from the coastal path so you can enjoy the wonderful coastal walks around Land's End and its many coves and beaches and spot some amazing birds, plants and animals. Esther's Field is beautiful in the spring and summer, and a cosy getaway in the winter months too with wood-fires and books to enjoy.

Land's End: The famous Land's End, the most westerly point of Great Britain, is under a mile away. You can see the well-known Longships Lighthouse and the last few outcrops of rock that stretch out in the sea towards the Scilly Isles from the beach in Sennen Cove. A walk along the coastal path from Sennen takes you to Land's End, and to many other beautiful little beaches around this headland.

Nearby towns: St Just, a charming little town with several pubs and shops, is a few miles away. The larger town of Penzance, with its rail link to London, is 8 miles away. Penzance has many fine old buildings, lots of antique shops and art galleries and a whole host of shops. From here you can also take the boat or helicopter to the Scilly Isles. About 40 minutes away by car is St Ives with its famous Tate Art Gallery.

Esther's Field sits peacefully in its own garden, but is just a few minutes walk from the village shops and restaurants of Sennen Cove. The Beach, right on the sands, was voted The Guardian Newspaper's 'Best Beach Restaurant in Europe'. Sennen is famous for its mile-long stretch of golden sands, safe swimming and clear Atlantic rollers. There's an excellent Surf School here too - they provide wetsuits, boards etc. The house is on the Coastal Path, so walks around this spectacular coastline are on your doorstep. Great opportunities for spotting native bird and plantlife. Or go on horseback - the Land's End Stables are just down the road. Visit the amazing Minack Theatre cut out of the cliffs or the rocky outcrops of Land's End, the many nearby coves and beaches and the numerous mystical prehistoric sites. Enjoy the Tate Gallery in St Ives, and the well-known towns and villages of the Far West like Mousehole, St Just and Pezance with excellent small art galleries, cafes and antique shops

Cosy luxury in beautiful surroundings

We truly loved our stay at Esther's Field. The house itself has such a warm feel; rich in history and character and yet with every modern comfort you would want.

Everything was clean and very well maintained - which was incredibly important to us with a 4 year old and 7 month old baby! Jules, the owner, was so helpful when we booked our stay and Nicolle, who looks after the house, visited to check we were ok and to give the children a little treat, which was incredibly kind and made us feel very welcome.

Sennen Cove itself is wonderful. We stayed in Winter, so it was very quiet. Ideal for strolls along the long stretch of golden beach. One of the best bits of walking on the beach is being able to look back and see Esther's Field nestling beautifully into the cliff above the beach and knowing that at the end of the walk we would be returning to such a wonderful house. 'The Beach' restaurant which is a short walk from the house, is perfect for a coffee, snack or larger meal. We have eaten there several times and the food is always excellent. We even saw the Lifeboat being launched on an exercise, which was a definite highlight for our 4 year old (she also loved the bunk beds in her room).

During our visit we did not stray far from the house and so fully enjoyed the log fires and the fantastic view to the beach and all the way round to Cape Cornwall. When venturing out we stayed in West Cornwall; we particularly enjoyed visiting St Ives, Porthcurno and the Cot Valley. The scenery on the road from Sennen to St Ives is rugged and beautiful, so even travelling to and fro was a great experience!

We would thoroughly recommend staying at Esther's Field. Staying there made us feel special and we were sad to leave. We hope you have as good a time as we did during your stay.
Owner's Response: I am so glad you had a great week! I think Sennen is a pretty amazing place, and Esther's Field is a wonderful house to explore it all from, so I'm delighted you agree! Lovely to have the beach to yourselves on wintry walks in the Far West.

Blissful Retreat

As a holiday property owner myself, I am a bit of a 'fussy' guest, but this cottage was just delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. The views are stunning and the air clean and invigorating. The cottage has gorgeous gardens and we readily gave in to the temptation to lounge about in them and send the children down to the beach for surf school (really cool, in their eyes).

Esther's Field is tastefully decorated and furnished. It has the warmth and level of equipment you would expect from a second home, but without giving guests the feeling they are invading someone else's life! The standard of housekeeping is high too, and the beds and soft linen make sleeping a pleasure. We also enjoyed having an en suite for each room, so that there were no bathroom arguments!

The children loved the Beach Restaurant and its 'Hot Chocolate with everything' and we were impressed buy the standards it achieved from an adult perspective. A nice bit of marine architecture too.

We were so delighted with the cottage and Sennen itself that we did not venture too far afield, despite there being much to lure us in the area. The pure relaxation of Sennen meant that it was difficult to pack up and go home, so we had to promise ourselves that we will come again!

a little piece of Cornish heaven

Esther’s Field is the perfect place to stay. It more than lives up to the description on the website. The moment we stepped inside, the house welcomed us with light and space. Beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean, we rushed to explore all the rooms - and fought over which one we wanted! Cosy throws, log fires and sumptuous beds made this an autumn haven. Glorious views catch your eye and make you linger at every vantage point to drink in the sea and skies. Each day is filled with choice. The beach at Sennen Cove is a surfer’s paradise but equally wonderful for young families, with golden sand perfect for castle building. Cliff-top walks to Land’s End lift the spirit, while cultural forays into St Ives, Mousehole or The Minack Theatre satisfy the soul. Secret coves such as Lamorna are to be discovered. Less spiritual visits to The Beach Restaurant or a cream tea at The Apple Tree or a locally made pasty are just as special. Eating in? The well-equipped kitchen with the Rayburn (okay I know it takes a while to get the hang of …) and lots of tempting herbs & spices give the opportunity to cook up a storm! A wonderful garden awaits, with secluded sun spots for quiet reading; lush foliage and exotic flowers make you think you’re further afield.
Nicolle, the very helpful housekeeper, provided a welcome pack of food essentials as well as flowers on the table. She was always at the end of a phone to help with any queries. Our week at Esther’s Field passed all too quickly and we can’t wait to return. A perfect holiday!

Sennen's Best

Six of us stayed at Ether's Field for the first time in June but with a little luck we will be back as soon as possible. Beautiful house with views down onto the beach and accross to Cape Cornwall. After studying the pictures on the website we found the accommodation exactly as we expected, very comfortable, very clean and very well appointed. The gardens are lovely too.
If Sennen Cove is one of the prettiest places in the world, then what could be better than to stay right in the heart of it? The beach of Whitesands bay, the Harbour and Lands End are all on the doorstep. Within about 5 miles are The Minnack Theatre, Porthcurno, Cape Cornwall, St Just, Porthgwarra and Nanjizal. Just a few more miles can take you to Lamorna, Mousehole, Penzance and St Ives.
We would venture out every day to discover somewhere new and amazing, where we found an abundance of pubs and restaurants of all types. Cornish Cream Teas and Pasties are never far away and closer to home there is fresh fish and chips, The Old Success Inn and the fantastic Beach Restaurant.
Jooles has created a wonderfull place to stay which I would recommend to myself let alone anybody else. Can't wait to return.
