What makes this condo complex heavenly is its oceanfront Club, where you can watch whales (during winter months) as you work out on a treadmill, linger in a meandering saltwater pool, relax in a sandy-bottom hot tub, or order a cool drink as you watch the seaside sunset. This Club is exclusively available to owners and renters at Hali’i Kai, and it is only two minutes' away from this lovely condo.
From the club, you can walk along a seaside trail to the magnificent Hilton Waikoloa Village hotel, just five minutes away. There you can swim with the dolphins, marvel at Asian artwork, and enjoy excellent seafood and Chinese and Japanese food. A great beach with water-sport rentals is only a five-minute drive away, and four topnotch 18-hole golf courses surround you. Year-round, the weather on the Kohala Coast is warm but not humid, nearly bug-free, and almost always sunny. This is the area where Hawaiian kings and queens came to vacation.
This condo, 17H, has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6. Its peek-a-boo oceanview location is just right for those on a budget looking for a superb resort experience. A well-equipped gourmet kitchen, professionally designed interior and on-site management all contribute to a fabulous experience. The ground floor lanai has its own BBQ, and the lushly landscaped lawn adjacent gives you the luxury usually only seen in much more expensive properties. Hali’i Kai condo resort has its own swimming pool, hot tub, exercise room, café/bar, tennis courts, and basketball hoop.
This condo is professionally managed by Castle Resorts. Their onsite location ensures that your vacation will be worry-free from the time of booking until you depart. Their concierge is available to help with any needs you may have, 7 days a week. Maid service is available for an additional charge.
Nearby are all the amenities you could wish for: supermarkets, shopping, beautiful beaches, archeological sites, restaurants, and golf courses. We have lava rocks along our oceanfront, but several gorgeous beaches are a 5-15 minute car ride away. The Big Island has much to explore: an active volcano, coffee plantations, ranchlands, farmers markets, a snow-capped mountain, and the charming town of Kailua, as well as snorkeling, whale-watching, and sunset cruises.
Whether you are looking for the perfect setting for a romantic getaway or family vacation, you have found it in this new Hali’i Kai property, built in 2007.

I am a writer and former journalist, born in Ohio and now based in Seattle. My husband, born in China, recently retired after many years of doing business in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China. We speak Mandarin Chinese as well as English.
Dori purchased this condo in 2012
The weather is perfect here on the Kohala Coast: warm but not hot, sunny and dry. Years ago, we fell in love with the nearby Hilton Waikoloa Village, with its dolphin experience, winding hallways filled with Asian art, and great restaurants, including the best Chinese restaurant in the area. This newly built condo complex of Hali'i Kai is just across the golf course, right on the ocean, and it has its own pool, café, and workout room right overlooking the ocean. We picked this particular condo because it is close to all these great facilities, within easy walking distance of the pool and the ocean.
This condo is on the ground floor with a lanai that opens to a lawn. It's just a short walk to the fabulous Ocean Club. There is a private BBQ on the patio. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet, shower and bathtub. Wireless internet is included.
My mother and I spent a wonderful, relaxing week at this condo. It's perfectly situated near the pool and clubhouse, which we discovered is very important at Hali'i Kai. We remarked more than once that we were so glad we were not in units closer to the main road as it would be a very long walk and quite difficult for mom. This unit is well appointed, the master suite is especially spacious with a very nice en suite. Housekeeping visited once mid week to take out trash and leave fresh towels. This was fine with us, and those who need more frequent visits can request as an add-on. The daily fee that covers the housekeeping and access to the pool was an additional $10 per day, which was reasonable. The wifi was easy to access via a code provided at check in.
This was my fourth trip to the Big Island, and every previous time I have stayed along the Kohala Coast at major hotels. This time, rather than pay exorbitant hotel rates and resort fees we decided to check VRBO. This decision was the right one. For much less than the cost of two rooms and the logistical challenges of meeting for meals, etc, we had plenty of space and the ability to have breakfast and lunch in the condo or the pool (the spinach salad was a favorite). The Hali'i Kai is a beautiful spot from the condos to the pool area. Quiet, well managed, very friendly staff.
Waikoloa Resort offers good restaurant options, and some shopping. These are a long walk or easy drive from Hali'i Kai. Having been around the island several times, we stayed close to home for the week. However, it is a great location for day trips to see all this incredible place has to offer.
The owner was very responsive during the reservation stage and the check in and out processes were a breeze. We would definitely return to this condo on our next visit to the island of Hawaii!
My husband and I stayed in this unit for 3 nights at the end of a 2 week vacation both on the Big Island and Maui. It was wonderful to have such a well appointed and beautifuly furnished condo for the end of a very busy 2 weeks... Being an end unit it was lovely to have natural light on two sides. We also loved being within a short walk of the pool and fitness centre. It truely was a luxury stay. The pictures on the site accurately showed the unit and the owner was responsive to emails. I would definately recommend this property.
We stayed at this unit for 5 nights and we just loved it. The condo is nicely furnished and decorated. It is also well equipped with every thing you need. It is only two minutes to the pool and club house. The club house has cafe and exercise room right in front of the ocean. The landscaping is beautiful around the whole complex with palm trees and tropical flowers, etc. Hali'i Kai is right next to the Hilton Resort which is one of largest hotels in the world. you can walk from Hali'i Kai to the Hotel in 10 minutes. At the Hotel, you can enjoy asian art works, swin with Dolphins and have many restaurants to choose from. Hali'i Kai is also very close to sandy beaches, terrific restaurants, and many championship golf courses. We will love to visit Hali'i Kai and stay in this unit again.
Swimming at onsite pool and nearby beaches, Chinese and Japanese restaurant nearby. Opportunity to swim with dolphins at nearby hotel. Boogie boards available.
