Our modern house, West Side Haven, was newly built for us in 2008 and has all the comforts of home and more! It is located at Dungeagan, Ballinskelligs, just a stones throw from the 'local', ie Rosie's pub, and the local chapel. The rooms are furnished to a very high standard with no expense spared to ensure your comfort. The house is large, bright and spacious, yet has a lovely homely feel. The accommodation includes 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles (1 with double shower en suite) and 1 twin, 2 other bathrooms, 1with Luxury bath and electric power shower, Open fire, initial turf supplied, Massive kitchen top spec with island unit. Large family lounge with 32 inch flat screen TV, iPod dock, radio, stereo, Playstation, Secure storage for bikes and sports gear, Private rear yard with patio and furniture, Every modern comfort, bed linen provided. Attractions include Sandy beaches, Horse riding, Scenic drives, Magical walks, Panoramic views, Golf links Scellig Islands, World class surfing.

Exciting, sporty, restful, historic are some of the reasons why Ballinskelligs has been our holiday of choice for the past sixteen years. In recent years West Side Haven has been our home away from home in the charming little village of Dun Geagen, Ballinskelligs, Co.Kerry. Whatever you’re looking for -this little gem in the crown of the ring of Kerry has it all.
Stunning scenery offers a breathtaking backdrop to swimmers, horse riders, golfers, walkers and artists alike, Ballinskelligs has been our holiday adventure since our children were very small. Steeped in history, this fairytale setting found us on magical trips of discovery. Great fun on the beach, mountain walks, fishing expeditions and evening entertainment with a “Céad mile failte” from the locals makes us feel like “one of their own”.
Summer or Winter, West Side Haven has been a perfect retreat out of our busy lives. The perfect blend of old charm and mod cons, this charming cottage has everything you need for the perfect holiday. The kitchen is without doubt the envy of all the friends we’ve had visiting during our stay –such space and comfort makes eating in the perfect night out! The turf fire is always delightful company for a winter’s evening to accompany a good book, good conversation or a lazy night of TV. The bedrooms, warm and spacious, are beautifully laid out.
Car parking is never a problem.
In the sixteen years we have being going to the beautiful Kerry resort of Ballinskelligs, West Side Cottage has been voted the number 1 best all-year-round house we have stayed in by everyone in our family. Many thanks and please can we book again for next year.

On holiday with all the comforts of home

We had a fantastic holiday while we stayed at the West Side Haven! The owners are nice people who keep the home well-maintained. Our family of 5 fit comfortably with room to spare. The 2 1/2 baths were more than adequate. We loved all the wood flooring upstairs. It provided a "homey" feel rather than that "hotel feeling" of thin carpets. Unfortunately the weather was unseasonable cool but this property helped us to enjoy our stay. If you have young children we recommend you bring kids DVD's. There were some DVD's there but more geared for older teens and adults. The book shelf was well-stocked and I got to read a John Grisham novel. Something I don't have time for at home. The home was described well in the write-up so you should be pleased. There should be more pictures of the home on the website which would do it more justice. We had a short drive to the beach and plenty of walking in the area. The kids got to pet donkeys! Our 3 boys had plenty of room to play in the garden and tons of exploring in the surrounding areas. They were never bored. We highly recommend this property and are already talking about going back next year!

Holidays don't get much better than this....

I don’t normally write reviews but on this occasion I feel this property and its location warrant one. This house had everything you could want in a holiday home and much, much more. Situated in the heart of the unspoilt village of Ballinskelligs the house strikes a great balance between the comforts of home and holiday living. Furnished to a very high standard yet always practical: leather sofas and dining chairs, tiled floors at ground level, wooden floors upstairs… a well equipped kitchen-dining area big enough for a barn dance – a great place for eating, dining, socialising and relaxing. Even a private garden at the back.

We had a brilliant holiday – the house, the village, the short stroll to a beautiful long sandy beach where there were kayaks for hire…the pub two minutes from the house, another at the beach serving good holiday food and of course the absolute highlight of the week for me (and I believe they are regular visitors to the area)... dolphins right in by the shore...awesome!

There’s a certain magic about this place – if you like beautiful scenery, beaches, surfing, walking, cycling, meals out, real pubs & real authentic Ireland– this is the holiday for you. Your only dilemma will be whether you will just lounge about in this great house, soak up the atmosphere of the village and local amenities or if you take yourself off travelling from here to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. We managed to do a bit of everything. We have already booked to go back again this year… and somehow I don’t think this will be our last time.

Holidays don’t get much simpler or better than this for adults and children alike.
