We are from Winter Springs Florida and self employed. Moving toward retirement and love to golf, ride our bikes, antiquing, garage selling, and enjoy good food, and wine, and sightseeing and traveling.. We decided to try renting our place and share its joys, but it is our second home and when we rent we want to be sure to select only those individuals and families that will take care of our place and preserve it and want to come back and have us want them back. We do have strick rules about pets and its not that we do not like pets but pets are not for everyone and we want all our guest to be comfortable and not have to worry about caring for their pets and our place at the same time. If you must have your pets with you then there are other places you can rent and enjoy.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2008
We came to this area during one of Florida's Hurricanes and loved the cool mountain breezes and gorgeous sunrises and views and scenery that make you want to stay longer.
We had this cabin custom built for relaxing but we do have stairs connecting the firepit and lower deck and the 4th BR which is on the ground level. If stairs are a problem or if you have young kids this is not a good selection for you. We love the elevation changes but its not for eveyone.
So peaceful...the sun rises 15-20 minutes later than normal as it has to peak over the mountain to our east. The birds are always singing and flowers blooming. The patio wraps around the cabin for convenience to the hot tub or just getting something cool or hot to drink and eat on the patio or in the hot tub.
The fire going in the fire pit and music on the patio while sitting on the patio or in the hot tub make for a romantic and tranquil experience.Read a book, play pool, polish horseshoes, games, take a hike, relax with your friends and chosen partner...you don't have to go any where else to have a memorable and enjoyable time when you are at our place in the great smokey mountains.
This is a very well appointed, comfortable and quiet cabin that is centrally located in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. My family of four loved our week spent here! It is quiet and cozy yet close to the many activities this wonderful area has to offer. You could also just spend the day in the cabin and relax; it has wonderful decks to sit on and read, a pool table, hot tub, a corn hole game and a fire pit! It is a 15 minute drive to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center Entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It also has the towns of Dillsboro and Sylva located nearby with good, local restaurants and grocery stores. The town of Cherokee is close as well for more things to do. Within 30 minutes are more cute towns, restaurants, shops and outdoor activities. There is also a very good local produce stand 5 minutes from the cabin! After days of hiking in the GSMNP or a morning horseback ride we would come back and use the wonderful hot tub. A fire pit made for a great night of making smores. The cabin is immaculately clean and well stocked for cooking meals at the cabin. There is a lot of room to spread out as a family and everything is very well maintained. This cabin is in great shape. Jerry the local property manager is wonderful and provides a great welcome to the area! Our only regret is that we did not stay longer to tube some of the local rivers, gem hunt, do more hikes and eat in more local restaurants! This is a must rent if you want a first class stay in the Smoky Mountains. It feels secluded but is in the middle of so much! Ruth and Jim, the owners, have done a wonderful job with this cabin. Thank you for letting us stay there!
This home was beautifully decorated and in a great location. You only have to drive a short distance to a town but at the same time, you are far away enough to have some peace and quiet and away from all the congestion of a big city. It was tranquil and had all the necessities available. The photographs were accurate of the actual home and property. The owner as well as the property manager were very cordial and I would recommend this place to others and would like to visit this cabin again!
Very classy, yet comfortable cabin. We were there with our 4 school aged kids for 5 days and they didn't want to leave! Plenty of room to spread out for a large family or group. Clean, well stocked. Lots to do in the area (as well as at the cabin) It was our first time to this part of NC and it was very enjoyable with a top notch home base.
The steep driveway freaked us out a little at first, but the views from the cabin were worth it. You may want to bring an SUV if you have one; our Honda Odyssey made it up, but an SUV would be more ideal.
The proximity to the Harrah's and Bryson City were spot on. Very peaceful and secluded. All high end fixtures and wonderfully decorative.Overall 3400 square foot house was amazing with double porches, jacuzzi, firepit. Pictures don't do it justice. Only concern was actually finding the place it feels like you get to a dead end and then a little road just keeps on going all the way to the top scary and fun at the same time but all paved so no danger. We plan on coming back so obviously not a big deal and still give it 5 stars across the board!! If you are going to the Cherokee area definitely have to stay at this place and play Sequoyah National Golf Club If you are a golfer. Thanks again Jim and Ruth!!
The Owners care a great deal about their home. It is reflected in the amazing qualities of this beautiful cabin.
What you can expect: A large, well stocked high end gourmet kitchen. Four comfortable bedrooms with spa like bathrooms to match. Access to a complete wrap around deck from each of the queen bedrooms. High quality music and media on both levels. Activities that all can enjoy, even on a rainy day - hot tub, pool table, darts, games, etc.
We are an empty nest couple who invited family and friends to share this home over a two week period. The owners and Jerry (the property manager) were very gracious without being intrusive. It really felt like our home during our stay.
The activities within a 40 minute drive are endless. We golfed, pontooned on Lake Fontana, hiked, toured museums, and shopped local flea markets.
This was our 5th year of renting cabins in NC, and this by far the most impressive home where we have stayed.
Turn Right off US74 at mm76.5. Bradley Branch road. Continue about 1 mile to the gate at Grand View Estates. The entrance is now lighted at night for your convenience. Gate code is necessary. Once thru the gate make an immediate Left on Green Wing Knob. Follow road up, right, down, then right(personal gate), up, and up then left to 311. Parking on 2 levels and room to turn around at last turn. From the gate to our property is a short distance...maybe 1/4 mile.
Other local attractions include Harrahs Casino in Cherokee 10 minutes away with Ruth Chris, Breo gambling and big name entertainment. Sylva and Dillsboro have restaurants, movies shows, shopping ...15 minutes away. Rafting is 5 minutes. Hiking and waterfalls are all within minutes.Tranquility on site.
Waynesville for dining and shopping and the Classic Wine cellar. Asheville (45 mins) to Biltmore Estates and art, dining, craft beer and shoping in downtown area.
My favorite hike is Deep Creek State Park in Bryson city with water falls(15 minutes) and for golfing the wow course 10 minutes away is Sequoia National.
The train ride in open train from Bryson City is always a favorite.
Our favorite restaurant is LULU's in SIlva.(15 minutes)
