Hong Kong Vacation Rental apartment: Causeway Bay

We were very pleased with the accomodation and the provided service by the landlord. The flat was clean with busstop directly in front of the house where one can enter a bus straight to Central District. If MTR is in focus it takes a short walk to Tin Hau MTR-station, very convenient, too.
We used to live in HKG about 10 years ago and it was the first time returning to "our" city. The convenience of the flat made us feeling very quickly being back home!
We would recommend this flat any time to our friends if they consider a trip to HKG and don't want to stay in a hotel, we even would try to convince them not staying in a hotel rather renting the flat.

The apartment is very well located just on the eastern edge of the Causeway Bay area of Hong Kong, next to Victoria Harbour and Victoria Park. Typically for Hong Kong it is compact, but well appointed. However, Hong Kong is a dynamic, vibrant, society whose residents seem to rarely go inside. So vacation apartments serve as a base only and compact is not a problem. The entrance to the block can take you by surprise when you first arrive but don’t worry about this. Take time to explore life around the apartment. Victoria Park is simply superb and a great location to see life in Hong Kong from early morning to late at night. Try some Tai Chi and swim in the pool. This district is a major residential area for the Hong Kong residents and so there are lots of interesting food, and other, shops all around the apartment as well as some very good restaurants. Public travel by bus is right outside the door (5 and 5X) and the MTR (Tin Hau) and Tram are within 5 minutes walking. These services will take you to all areas of Hong Kong and are cheap and convenient. There is nowhere to park a car – you don’t need it. There is some great shopping in the area around Times Square which is within walking distance of the apartment and the best is to be found in the small malls and shops rather than the glitzy large mall buildings. Just ride the tram to get a full perspective. The kitchen in the apartment is small, but well equipped. We didn’t use it much at all though. The local restaurants are too good to spend time cooking, though the temptation of the food available in shops all around the apartment makes the prospect of cooking an exciting one if you have the time. We really liked this apartment. It is convenient for the tourist areas but you feel as though you are living in ‘real’ Hong Kong not ‘tourist’ Hong Kong and so you feel for a while you are part of Hong Kong. Best of all the area is very safe, so if you have teenagers (as we do) you can turn them loose with a card for the public transport and they can 'do their own thing' even late in the evening. We developed a pattern of going out for the day sightseeing, perhaps finishing on a beach, having dinner at a restaurant and then the teenage girls stopping off somewhere in the Central to Causeway Bay area and making their own way back from there, often very late. We had no qualms about this and the arrangement worked well. We would return tomorrow given the chance.

We were a bit shocked when approaching the apt building and nearby area is just not what we expected (shopping centers, hang out spots, etc). Getting into the lift was also creating BIG question mark for us. I haven't seen this kind of lift for the whole of my life. End of our "journey" from front door to fl. 12, we were welcome by a warm greetings from the owner, Rose. It is very meaningful for us after long journey and delayed of our flight. The apt although is very small, but it's newly renovated with good interior design. We can have a nice harbour's view from the large balcony. Rose had furnished the apt very well. My kids (they are 6 & 4), instantly feel at home. They were so happy to see the large LCD TV on the wall esp. when they found the Disney's DVDs in the shelf. As for me, what help me a lot is it is equipped with washing machine so that i don't have to bring so many clothes and have more space for my shoppings.. :). Eating is just a corner away.

BTW, we found it is easier to reach Fortress Hill MTR station rather than Tinhau.

In short.. we definitely will stay again in this property and recommend it to family with kids, girls/boys getaway.
