KONA HIGHLANDS VACATION HOME

Kailua Kona House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description) 1 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Beautifully decorated, quiet home in the Kona Highlands. Away from 'resort style' living, this very local home is the ideal place to get a true flavor of living in Hawai'i. A house that dreams are made and realized. Located in the cooler elevations, it tends to be less muggy and hot. You can relax on the lanai, barbeque and watch the sunset. Only 10 minutes from the airport and easy to get to. Beaches and downtown Kona are less than 15 minutes away. Two bedrooms, kitchen, and bath upstairs. 1 Queen Airbed and 1 twin futon available for your use. We have a complimentary Concierge service available. Specialty services are available and paid to the provider at time of service.

Keywords: home, quiet house, cool elevation, 10-15 minutes from town, beaches, Concierge Service.

Suitability:
  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters
  • non smoking only

Aloha! E Komo Mai! Welcome to our Hale! We are the Northon Family, Jeff, Yukiko, and our children Nicholette, Alyssa and Jason. We have worked together to bring this wonderful house together so that it may be used as a retreat, a vacation house and eventually, Jeff and my permanent residence. We hope to share the love we have for our home with you and give you a chance to experience the wonderful island of Hawai’i.

Currently, we are working and staying on the Mainland until the children finish High School.

We purchased this house with the intent to move back to Kona after the kids grow up. We have remodeled this house for comfort and beauty and want to share it with those that can appreciate Hawai'i and its inhabitants.

This house is located in the Highlands where the air is cooler and crisp in the evenings but still warm by mainland standards. It is a place where the *rush* of being on vacation can be let go and one can truly relax to the sounds of nature. Being among the Locals, it is very different than the 'Resort Style' living, coupled with the Concierge Service, it is by far, the 'best of both worlds'!! This house is a place where dreams are made and realized.

EXCELLENT FEEL AT HOME VISIT

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful home. Clean, spacious and private. You get the feeling of living as a local. The location is high enough up the hill to be cool in the evening for good sleeping. The location is perfect. Near enough to the airport and Costco for gas & groceries and the perfect jumping off point for daily excursions to the Harbour, old airport, and no city traffic to delay your morning starts for the excellent dives sites up north like Puako & Mahu Kona.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 4 of 5
This is a great place to go for longer vacations especially; while there is not a service that comes in while you're out to triangle-fold your toilet paper rolls, it is a comfortable place to stay on the big island that is away from other tourists.

The beds are rejuvenating, the living room open and welcoming. You are in Hawaii so tropical floral patterns are prolific; there is no escape from them here but they are at least nice colors.

The area in the backyard under the trees has an unfortunate population of mosquitoes supported by water that collects in some bromeliad plants closeby. There is a wooden bench of sorts to sit on that would otherwise be adequate however I would not suggest it! The rest of the backyard is fine, though.

Owner's Response: Thank you Nic, for your review! We are glad you had a great time at the Greenhouse. I will get with my gardener on the mosquito population as it does ebb and flow with the rains and the bromeliads do collect water. Thank you for the heads up! We welcome you to come back to the Greenhouse again anytime!

NICE HOUSE AND LOCATION

  • 4 of 5
We enjoyed our stay at the green house and liked the quiet neighbourhood. The house was clean and comfortable. Another chair for the living room would be a nice addition. The kitchen was well stocked as well. I love all the beautiful plants and flowers in the yard. It was nice to have a barbecue and we enjoyed the lanai.

EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT

  • 5 of 5
I loved this place. I just moved to the Big Island and needed a place to call "home" while my other rental was ready for occupancy. Here's what I LOVED: The owner has thought of everything to make your stay feel both like a vacation in a hotel and like a home. It comes with a functional office area with wifi, a fantastic TV in the living room, a great kitchen setup, and comfortable bedrooms. The sunset and ocean views are fantastic. Well supplied throughout, this is one of most well-kept vacation homes I've ever stayed in. Big plus was that is dog-friendly! My and my pooch Ella hope to come back again soon!

MALLORY

  • 5 of 5
I loved staying at the green house! It was nice to be able to come up to the cool mountain air after a hot day downtown. Also, it was nice to be able to relax somewhere quiet and have the comfort of a house instead of a small hotel room. The house was in great shape and we had no issues when staying there! Would recommend to anyone! Thanks again for the stay!! :)

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Myself and 4 friends took our first adventure to Hawaii for 2 weeks. We used both the upper and lower part of the home and absolutely LOVED it!! We did not want to leave. It is nice being away from the resorts and hotels yet still within a 10 minute drive down to the shops/beaches/restaurants. We really felt like we were Hawaiians. The view from the lanai in the morning is breathtaking and we had everything we needed to cook with and make us feel right at home. Can't wait to come back again! I have referred this home to several friends, family, and co-workers because I know they would enjoy the home as much as we did. Kona is a fun filled city and there is plenty to do on this island. The beaches are the most beautiful I have ever seen. There is something for everyone to do on the Big Island. Sure beats Oahu!

There are so many wonderful adventures that you can have here in Hawai’i, that it would be difficult to list them all, however, here are a few that we have enjoyed.

1) Dolphin Quest: Take the time to learn all about the dolphins and interact with them. It is fantastic to be able to touch them and learn about them.

2) Kohala Kayak and SUP: Sean, of Kohala Kayak is a wonderful guide and teacher of Stand Up Paddle. He also does Kayak trips and other water activities. He is knowledgeable about the area and is a very patient teacher.

3) ZipLine: This is quite the adventure and very fun.

4) Mauna Kea Observatories: This is a fantastic day trip. Be sure to take the time to adjust to the elevation at the store for at least an hour before continuing up to the Observatory. There are tours available if you do not want to go up yourself.

5) Paleaku Peace Garden: A wonderful place for looking at different plants and scenery. They have a garden representation of the Milky Way, which is pretty cool.

6) Akatsuka Orchid Gardens: This place has an *amazing* collection/display of orchids for sale and display. It’s on the Hilo side of the Island.

7) Hawai’i Tropical Botanical Garden: Located off of Hwy 19 near the Hamakua Coast. The drive going to the garden is also quite beautiful.

Well, there are lots more adventures available, but, half the fun is finding them!

You may also contact Kona Concierge to book and plan other available adventures of your choosing.
