Overview

St. Lawrence Gap House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

You will love your stay at Seagrass! Beaches, turtles, monkeys, birds. Peace and quiet. This is our home away from home and we are proud to offer it to our guests when we can't be there. We offer a very spacious newly constructed three bedroom, three bathroom townhouse with study located in Dover. It's a 5 minute walk to the long curve of white sand on Dover Beach (0.3 mile or 400m.) And the popular St. Lawrence Gap, the restaurant and entertainment hub of the island, is just one more block from there.

Newly furnished in a tropical style with bright colours, our home has a great ambience. In the ground floor living room, you will find a 41 inch Sony TV, cable and DVD, plus free Wireless internet. Adjacent to the living room is the study with futon and full bathroom. The large kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, under cabinet LED lighting, and a convenient washer and dryer for your use. Your indoor dining area is just off the kitchen near to the patio. Or, step outside onto the covered shady patio for morning coffee and enjoy a six seater teak dining table. Just ideal for taking your meals alfresco!

Upstairs you will find your master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, dressing table, and a full length mirror. Off the master, you can slip out onto a private patio to enjoy the ocean breeze and hear the surf on Maxwell Beach.

A second master-sized bedroom boasts more large closets, full length mirror, and dressing table. The third bedroom is bright and cheerful with large closet and dresser. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with large walk-in shower stall. All bedrooms are air conditioned, have ceiling fans and ample closet space.

The house is very secure with security bars on all windows and iron gates for both the front and back doors allowing you to let breezes through when you're home and still have total peace of mind. An in-wall safe is provided for storing your valuables.

Everything you need is convenient to you within a short walk from Seagrass. We are on Third Avenue in Dover with a lovely quiet beach, a grocery market, and a taxi stand right at the end of our street. Two blocks in the other direction and you will be at the bus stop on the main road.

At the end of the street there is a small secluded beach called Rainbow Beach to watch the sunsets or surf. This is a turtle nesting beach where, in the fall, you can watch hatchlings run toward the sea! Turn left and you come to Maxwell Beach for body surfing and long walks. Turn right and within one block you find lovely Dover Beach, offering beach chair and umbrella rentals, watersports and kiosks selling local food and drink. All these beach choices within 5 minutes walk!

Shop for souvenirs and clothing in The Gap - just 4 blocks away. At night The Gap comes alive, offering live local entertainment from Jazz to Reggae and more, a myriad of restaurants both casual and fine dining. Tennis is available at 2 resorts in the neighbourhood. Golf within 3 miles. Public transport is readily available as well as taxis.

Our local property manager will be available to you 24/7 during your stay. She and her staff meet you at the house on your arrival and show you through everything. If you have any repairs or needs while staying with us, she is just a phone call away. She handles our rental arrangements so you will have a secure way to send your payments. (That's why you don't see any actual bookings here on our listing. They are completed by our professional property manager.)

Guestbook comments from the manager

Life is a beach in Barbados!

This house is in the perfect location to walk around the Gap and enjoy the beaches. We enjoyed karaoke at Hal's Car Park as a local spot to be at night. Zed's at Surfers Point is perfect for beginner surf lessons and very chill for Wednesday night dinner. If you go to the Animal Cave, stop by one of the west coast beaches like Sandy Lane.

Oistins Friday night Fish Fry is a must! Also highly recommend a catamaran sailing cruise. We sailed Calabaza and the crew was fantastic and food and drink was all included. Thanks for the stay!

Exactly what the Dr ordered.

Perfect.... Dinner night one in the nearby infamous " Gap" was welcomed after a long flight as was the return home to relaxation with a glass of wine and sounds of the outdoors, not the club scene which was only a 5 minute walk away. Sleep came easy after days in the sun on comfy beds and waking up with coffee on the patio watching birds explore the lime, mango and banana trees in this or the neighbouring yard. We were there over Easter weekend so with store closures, the close proximity to restaurants, grocery, even a coffee bar and of course not to mention a beautiful beach - all within walking distance was ideal. The house was cute and spacious and most importantly, spotless. The decor was what I imagined Barbados decor to be, lovely blue accents on light coloured furniture. This is a place that i would live in in a heartbeat. Already saving our coins to go back ;)

Owner's Response: After a long winter, Seagrass is indeed good medicine! It is truly a joy to see and hear all the birds in spring. Hopefully you saw the green parrots in the trees beyond our yard. We are so glad you relaxed in our home and had such a comfortable stay. Thank you for your review and come again soon!

Peaceful and perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (2 couples and 1 baby) stayed at the Seagrass for 11 glorious days and we had a wonderful experience. The villa is spacious and quiet and it is a great home base for exploring the island. The location is ideal, right on the Gap and 2 minutes away from Dover beach so you can't really ask for more. The staff was helpful and friendly. Juliet was especially lovely and she kept the place spotless for us:) I highly recommend staying here...it has everything you need for a restful vacation!

The walk to beaches and the Gap is just right the distance. Close but at arms length to preserve the quiet. It's so nice to hear your comments and that yu see what we see in Seagrass. Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We hope to see you again soon!

Excellent Location

  • 4 of 5

The house first appeared smaller than expected, but there were 8 of us. Soon as we were settled in we had plenty of room. The proximity to everything was GREAT!! The beaches.. Rainbow at the end of the street was small quiet and perfect to relax on day 1. Day 2 We hired Johnson tours $60us/hr for a van and we went to the rum factory, the wildlife reserve, to animal flower cave (AMAZING FUN) then on to super center to food shop for the week. Day 3 Dover beach, met Kenny, rented chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards had a great day. The water miraculous blue, sand soft as silk no stepping on shells here! There were a couple of places for lunch and drinks by the lifeguard stand and charlies water sports to where you can banana boat, jet ski ect.. You will see it all no searching everything is right there. Day 4 snorkeled with turtles with s

Small Cats. We chose their small catamaran for just the 8 of us! It was wonderful. Day 5 my husband and sons golfed Apes Hill which they raved about! Us girls beached it again then all went to Harbour lights beach extravaganza. So much family fun! Day 6 we left! To soon! My only complaint was the mosquitoes. We had to keep the front and back door open to cool down the house but with no screens it was really a problem. We were bitten up inside the house anytime we were in there. I loved the house and location but could not do it again without screens on doors and slatted windows. Its one thing to put on bug spray to go out but to need it while indoors is unbearable for me.

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing this review! So glad you enjoyed our nearby beaches and met Kenny who is just the biggest help and the sweetest guy. He's always got a smile and a chair ready on Dover beach. We are sorry you had a problem with Mosquitos. By this time of year, there are usually no bugs at all but the rainy season has persisted and each time there's another downpour, the bugs get a new wave! We will definitely look into your suggestion to put screens on the doors. They are not common in Barbados but we have our property manager looking for a solution. Thanks for letting us know.

All the comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seagrass and hope to return some day. We loved the location just off the beaten track. This meant we could relax in peace and quiet on the patio out back but at the same time be within walking distance to beaches, restaurants and cafes. The house has been very tastefully decorated and is kept immaculately clean by the friendly Juliette. The bedrooms are roomy with very comfortable beds and the kitchen airy and well equipped. In short, we felt we had all the comforts of home and that we got very good value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend Seagrass to others.

As mentioned the house is a good base for those without a car. Dover Beach has lovely white sand with clear turquoise water, no rocks or weeds and not too rough for children. Rainbow Beach is also just up the road and we hear that you can see turtles there at certain times of the year. St Lawrence Gap is the nightlife centre with quite a lovely view out to the water. There is also a convenience store just up the road from the house, and nearby there's a tennis court, shops, a good coffee bar and numerous good places to eat or have a cocktail. If you do have a car it's a short drive into Bridgetown for tax free shopping and as the island isn't large you can easily tour around and see a lot within one day. The owners have provided tourist information brochures with plenty of tips about what to do, where to eat etc. and there is a guestbook which includes personal favourites from the owners and other guests. There are so many things to do and see. We will definitely have to return!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and great recommendation! We love to hear how much people enjoy Seagrass and the island! We try to keep the house well and our housekeeper has real pride in her work. I will pass your note along to her because I know it will mean a lot to Juliette. She is so good with our guests! Really a stand-in host for us! We appreciate your mentions of the nearby conveniences and beautiful beaches. We agree that it is a wonderful neighbourhood! We are certainly hoping to welcome you back to Seagrass soon!

Louise and friends

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in this holiday villa. It was quiet, we were a quick walk to a choice of terrific beaches and we rented a car to travel around the island. It was great to have Juliet come in and do a tidy and clean around throughout the stay as well, so thank you to her! We ate take aways, cooked and walked the short distance to some very good local restaurants. The villa is really nicely styled, the kitchen is well stocked with equipment and the outside area is charming. I would very much recommend a stay here. I've ticked the excellent value box for this property as compared with all the other properties I looked at it is well priced.

Owner's Response: Hi Louise, I couldn't have listed the features of Seagrass better myself! I am thrilled that your experience was exactly as we have designed it. The quiet, the close proximity of the livelier scene, the meals at home, and the yard to relax and enjoy. We agree that it is a wonderfully comfortable place to use as home base for an exciting and fun time on the island! We welcome you back anytime! And thank you for taking time to write a review. Truly appreciated. Also thanking for being such great guests and caring for our property as if it were your own. Cheers! Michelle
