136 Younger Way is located atop Santa Cruz's Beach Hill, an easy downhill stroll to the Pacific Ocean, Main Beach volleyball courts, the historic Wharf and the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Surfers and boogie boarders are just minutes away from Cowell’s (beginner waves) and Steamer Lane (expert waves). Explore downtown shops, restaurants and coffee shops which are easily accessible by a 3-5 minute leisurely peddle on a beach cruiser bike (free with rental), or a 10 minute walk. There are endless other recreational options in Santa Cruz County including mountain biking, hiking, sailing, kayaking and scenic trains through redwood forests.

The house is a completely renovated (2012) craftsman style home with two bedrooms, one bath, spacious dining and living rooms, and a beautiful new kitchen. Large, double hung windows throughout the house make it a bright and cheerful place for your vacation.

This house was perfect for us! We were visiting our kids at UCSC over the Thanksgiving holiday. I cooked a full meal for 12 people in the kitchen, which is very nicely equipped. The house interior is very updated -- brand new kitchen, and bathroom -- with a great tub! The back patio is lovely, an had fairly lights up, and plenty of seating for our constant visitors. The house is perfectly located -- in walking distance to everything, and with easy street parking for overflow of cars, would you need it.

We moved to Santa Cruz in July 2011 from Chicago. It's been quite a culture shift; but we love it, we love the relaxed and friendly culture of Santa Cruz, we really think there's no place like it and we have traveled all over the world. We've been married 16 years and love sharing new experiences We've traveled to 41 countries together and have a passion for social justice issues; both globally and locally. Chad is currently pursuing a socially minded start up company focused on job creation in Rwanda and Jodi works as a psychotherapist at UCSC's Counseling & Psychological Services. Our boys love living in Santa Cruz; playing at the beach, soccer at Depot Park, or riding their scooters at the Bike Park.

We took a 12 week sabbatical in 2009; volunteering for a fair trade retailer who was located in Santa Cruz. We spent 6 weeks in Santa Cruz and 6 weeks in East Africa. After returning home to Chicago, we decided to pursue a different journey in life, sold our house and in time decided we wanted Santa Cruz to be our new home. We love the relaxed neighborhood feel up on Beach Hill, it's so close to all the action, but being on a one way street keeps it quiet and relaxing!

We love the Craftsman style home with lots of light and character throughout; as well as the great outdoor spaces of the home.

Relaxation and fun are the two things we love about living at 136 Younger Way. We can stroll down to the beach for 30 minutes, hop our bikes and for some boogie boarding fun, or relax on the front porch listening to the summer beach concerts.

WISHED WE COULD HAVE STAYED LONGER

This home is extremely comfortable and in a very quiet neighborhood. Only 2 blocks from the boardwalk and beach. I loved sitting out in the backyard in the morning drinking my coffee and reading. We also enjoyed being the lovely yard in the evening after bar-b-quing dinner. The home has plenty of space so you don't feel like you're tripping over each other. Thank you Jodi and Chad for sharing your home with us. Hopefully next time we come down there we can use the house again and not have to leave early due to an emergency back home.

The layout allows families to both spend time together around the generous dining room table and find their own space in other living spaces. WONDERFUL STAY!

The home was everything that was advertised, it was clean and cozy, and the owners are awesome!! We had a glitch in the plans on our end, but Jodi was excellent in accomodating us so we could still have our stay there, and she is really good about responding quickly with any questions you may have!! Can't say enough good things about our stay... I think that if the weather could have been ordered just for us, it was done too!!! Thank you again for allowing us to stay in your lovely home, we had a great time and will have cherished family memories forever!!!

LOVELY HOUSE, VERY NICE KITCHEN, COMFORTABLY SLEEPS 2 ADULTS & 2 CHILDREN, STREET PARKING IS PAINFUL

We enjoyed our stay here. The house is really nice. There is a great kitchen, a very nice deck out back, and a nice dinning room table -- so, good for inviting a few people over for dinner. The landscaping is really nice, the interior decoration is nice, and the renovation has been really well done: this house has real charm. The furnishings are high quality. The master bedroom and the sofa were comfortable to sleep in. Only a few minor areas for improvement: (1) the cleaning staff, or someone, left a large bottle of bleach in the shower/bath, which was a little scary for us since we had two little children running about and didn't expect a bottle of bleach to be lying out in the open. (2) Finding street parking every night was a hassle. (3) The people who stayed before us, told us as they were leaving and we were arriving that they had stuffed the decorative little rug from the master bedroom into the closet, because it was giving off a bad odor (we didn't investigate and left it in the closet).

We appreciate hearing from our guests and wanted to take a minute and respond to the concerns you mentioned. 1)We did hire a new cleaning service in late August 2012 do to similar concerns you mentioned. We have not had any complaints since switching to a new cleaning service. 2) Street parking can be difficult due to the ideal location of the house, but there is always one parking space in the driveway. 3) We had not heard that feedback about the rug and have not had other complaints. We had a great time at this VRBO. The location is excellent. The house is nice although it felt a bit strange to have the names of the kids up on the walls in the second bedroom! Sort of like we kicked the owners out while we were there! The kitchen was great - the owners were very kind and responsive and it was a good experience. Santa Cruz is a very welcoming city!

Our family had a pleasant, leisurely weekend at this home. The house had a craftsman charm and was comfortable & quiet with nice natural light and a large deck in the back yard. The bunk beds were great for our two young children who enjoyed the house too. We'll definitely stay here on our next weekend in Santa Cruz!
