It's the winter season in the Hudson Valley and a great time to hike, snowshoe or x-country ski and enjoy the scenic views of the Gunk's white cliffs and Gertrude's Nose. Peaceful, bucolic setting surrounded by farmland, horse paddocks and vineyards. About Karen

My husband and I love country living. We have two beautiful dogs, Noble and Keyser, who go on long walks with us and love to fetch the frisbee. Our passion is tennis, and Pat is an awesome teaching tennis professional. I enjoy cooking and baking healthy and nutritious food. At day's end we like to find a relaxing spot on the back porch or poolside pergola to just chill and take in the expansive views.

Why Karen chose Gardiner

We love being away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The laid-back country setting nurtures our soul. Minnewaska Park and Mohonk Preserve are just minutes away. The nighttime sky here is bursting with stars and the fields aglow with fireflies in the warm summer nights. We purchased this Pennsylvania style hay and cow barn in 2001 and have been lovingly renovating the structure, with its original hand hewn beams and sturdy frame, into a unique home and retreat. We hope you enjoy its peaceful chi as much as we do.

What makes this apartment unique

Waking to birdsong, sipping a hot cup of coffee on the back porch and taking in the morning view of the cliffs, playing tennis any time of the day on our home court, biking country roads, hiking, chilling with a book on the porch or poolside pergola, gazing at the nighttime sky, a night time dip in the saltwater pool or roasting marshmallows over a campfire. Country living simple yet luxurious.

Amazing vacation!! Simply perfect.

We were coming to the New Paltz area to participate in the American Zofingen-the worlds toughest duathlon (running and biking competition). As this was a big event for us we needed a place that is quite, accessible and worry free in order to fully relax on the days before the race. The listing looked like it would fit the bill.
Few places live up to the photos and descriptions that are typically listed on rental sites-this one actually exceeded them! The unit we rented was immaculate, clean, fully functional and had the most comfortable bedding we could ask for. The grounds were beautifully landscaped but functional as well. Our dog Jake came with us and he had a great time.
Karen and Pat are welcoming, thoughtful and the pleasant hosts you could ask for. They have thought of everything and were more than accommodating. I can't say enough about how perfect the stay was for us.

If you need a retreat this is it!

I loved the apartment! Very comfortable and well decorated with beautiful touches throughout. Pat and Karen are really cool and you'll know they're glad to have you there.

We stayed three days and it went mostly like this:
Wake up in the morning to the sounds of birds, hit the tennis court then spend the rest of the day exploring Gardiner, New Paltz, or Minnewaska. If that's not enough for ya' then the heated saltwater swimming pool will be open soon.

Leaving was very, very, hard and we seriously considered staying an extra day.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

An unforgettable getaway!!

I knew that staying in a converted barn was going to be a unique experience but the stay at this property was so much better than I could imagine! The barnhouse and its surroundings are extremely picturesque: the Shawgunk Mountains are behind the house and provide a beautiful backdrop, and Whitecliff Vineyards (one of the best in Hudson Valley) is literally across the street. Karen and Pat were fantastic hosts and I enjoyed playing frisbee with Kaiser and Noble. From the salt-water pool to the vegetable gardens to the honeybee hives on the property, everything was so well designed for maximum relaxation and tranquility. I will definitely be back!

beautiful serene spot with farmland, winery and mountain views and very comfortable/clean and up to date apt. the hosts karen and pat are generous and helpful. we are looking to come back asap. would be a beautiful spot for any season.

WOW! This is one of the most beautiful locations - the property is well maintained, very comfortable, clean and most of all includes the most wonderful hosts. A lot of thoughtfulness has been put into this rental, and no detail is overlooked. The village of Gardiner is charming as well, and you're just a short drive to the mountains, Rhinebeck and more.
