We are Canadians that LOVE the ocean.
Jessica purchased this apartment in 2011
My father is a fishing enthusiast and couldn't believe how much fun it was on Ambergris Caye. It is a great place to be if you like snorkeling and scuba diving too.
If you're looking for alternative to resort or all-inclusive vacation this is great to experience local culture. There is a bakery behind and food venders selling there product in front and on the beach road. The main floor of the building is occupied by well-known family of local artist and fisherman, Rob Guerrero. He and our property managers are excellent contacts to have while exploring this beautiful island. Great location close enough to town but also quiet enough.
The apartment was perfect for a home base. Located far enough from downtown to be quiet but it was also walking distance to markets, bakery, restaurants and bars. Very well equipped with everything you would need...loved that bottled water and beach towels were supplied. Communication with the owner was a breeze...right from inquiring about the property to our arrival back home.
We stayed at this property for 3 nights during our trip to Belize. Vanessa was waiting for us at the airport and when we left, she took us to our next location. She is very easy to work with and quite accommodating. The kitchen was very well appointed and had everything you need to make meals although I didn't do any cooking on this trip. The view of the ocean was nice to watch from our terrace or from the roof top. The furnishings are outdated but clean and there were all kinds of extras for our use (water toys, floaties, snorkel masks & fins, beach bag etc). The location is close to everything and within walking distance (great little bakery right behind us. Overall, we really enjoyed staying in the apartment and would recommend it to anyone that can climb stairs. You won't find an elevator in San Pedro. Our questions and queries were answered promptly before and after booking.
Wet Willies down the beach on the dock has good entertainment some evenings. We worked with Melida (Mel) from Richland Adventures to book some tours and transfers. She gave us good pricing and was a sweetie to work with. The pizza at Pedro's Inn was awesome. Check out ACES (American crocodile education sanctuary) They do evening tours on the lagoon looking for crocs that are a nuisance-in back yards, eating dogs etc. They are captured, tagged, measured and once healthy, released back into the mangroves. It was an interesting evening. You can find them at the Reef Villiage across the bridge. Book ahead and the fee all goes to protecting the species. There are lots of good places to eat in town, ask the locals for their favourites, that's how we found some of the better ones. I'd list some but I can't remember the names.
I can't begin to say enough about this wonderful trip and the home we stayed in. The neighbors were great and very helpful with suggestions for restaurants or activities. The location is perfect!!! Just far enough up the beach to have a peaceful night's sleep but close enough to town to experience all that San Pedro has to offer. The apartment was everything we needed!! Hot water for tired muscles from walking around and diving, kitchen with fridge big enough for cold water, breakfast and snacks, bed with a new mattress, and plenty of air conditioning for relief in the heat of midday!! Wonderful assortment of clean towels, including beach towels since we didn't have enough room in our luggage our ours!!! Ample supply of cookware and dishes that we didn't have to do all the dishes everyday if we were too worn out. Having a bakery and fruit stand just around the corner made for the most delicious breakfasts. The clothesline on the landing was great for hanging wetsuits and swimwear up to dry. Definitely the place to stay and I hope to be back over and over again!! Thanks for allowing us to share your little piece of paradise!!!
My wife, and I just returned from a week in San Pedro, and found this apartment to fit our needs perfectly. The accommodations were clean, and as described. The location is just far enough to be quiet, and peaceful, but close enough to walk to town. We thoroughly enjoyed the views from the roof top veranda, and reading for hours in the hammock. Don't hesitate, this place is great!
Recently took my son on a graduation trip to Belize. We loved Ambergris Caye and this apartment. It was a perfect situation the apartment was a great price, within easy walking distance to town and our dive shop. Rosa & Joe were super great helping with logistics and such. The family that lives below and the fly-fisherman guide that lives next door were friendly and quiet. That was nice.
We did NOT rent a golf cart and didn't need one. We walked to breakfast, lunch, and dinner easily and the walks actually essential to the relaxation factor. If you really want a laid-back afternoon, take the water taxi to Caye Caulker!
Remember: this is not a luxury hotel. It's not meant to be. This is a clean, inexpensive, and quiet little apartment that made us feel local -- priceless! The hot water is hot and the air-conditioning is welcome. It is situated close to everything you need, but not too close. There are groceries close by - an easy walk to get this and that.
We had an amazing time from beginning to end! The best part of this spot is that it is located in the heart of San Pedro and right on the waterfront! It was easy to get around by foot, bike, and for the days we headed north...by golf cart. The suite was very clean and was more than enough space for the two of us! The suite has a great view of the water and the building has an awesome rooftop patio perfect for eating breakfast (fresh fruit and pastries from the neighbouring bakery) to the sun rising, or drinking Travellers Blackberry wine (Belize made) while the sun sets!
If you're looking for a vacation spot on Ambergris Caye that immerses you in the local culture, but still provides you with North American conveniences and has great proximity to beach life than this is it!
