CHARMING 4-BEDROOM CHARLEVOIX COTTAGE

Charlevoix House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to Our Cottage in Charlevoix the Beautiful in Michigan's Northwest region. This could be your home away from home. Cottage is located on the north side of Charlevoix, one block off historic Michigan Avenue with access to the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan. Five-minute walk to charming downtown Charlevoix where shopping, dining, and entertainment await you. It's just a short stroll to see breathtaking sunsets or an evening concert in the park. A brisk 10-minute walk can take you to a beautiful City library, Depot Beach, and many of Charlevoix's historic, whimsical Earl Young 'mushroom homes'.

Upon your first visit to Charlevoix, you will understand why it is called 'Charlevoix the Beautiful.' For over 100 years, people have traveled to Charlevoix to make this one of the great vacation destinations in Northern Michigan.

The town of Charlevoix is situated around three lakes: Lake Michigan, Lake Charlevoix, and Round Lake, a natural harbor connecting the two lakes to each other.

Charlevoix is known for its beautiful beaches, clear blue waters and stunning sunsets. During the summer months, the average high temperature is 75 degrees with relatively no humidity. This amazing weather lends itself perfectly to the wide variety of outdoor activities that are offered in the area.

The downtown area of Charlevoix is the heart and soul of Charlevoix. It offers art galleries, clothing boutiques, restaurants, and world-famous fudge shops. In the middle of town is the City park and marina. The City park has a band shell that hosts evening concerts all summer long.

Downtown Charlevoix is also the port to the Beaver Islander and Emerald Isle, two boats owned and operated by the Beaver Island Boat Company. Beaver Island is located 32 miles off Charlevoix coast. Surrounded by freshwater and accessible only by boat or plane, Beaver Island is a one-of-a-kind getaway.

Family-friendly property with four bedrooms including master bath and bedroom which to an outdoor patio/deck on the first floor, and three bedrooms and full bath/shower on the second floor, two bedrooms include queen-size pillowtop mattress beds and one bedroom has two twin beds. All bedrooms have many windows allowing the cool breezes in off Lake MIchigan. Home has been completely renovated and newly-furnished and includes a complete kitchen with all the necessary cooking utensils and components to prepare, cook and serve full family meals or wipe up a quick snack. The front porch is a treasure and a get place to relax, have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and watch the world go by and to enjoy the breezes off Lake Michigan. A warm and inviting feeling greets you in every room.

Centrally located in the heart of Michigan's northwest, Charlevoix is 50 miles from Traverse City, 15 miles from Petoskey, and about 65 miles from Mackinac City and historic Mackinaw Island. Come and enjoy all the beauty that northern Michigan has to offer in all seasons!

I am a Michigan native, and although life circumstances have resulted in me living in Florida for many years; my heart will always be in northern MIchigan. While growing up in Michigan my best memories are from when we went 'Up North!' Up North is not just a location, to me it is a mindset of relaxation and enjoyment in beautiful surroundings! My dream is to become a true 'snow-bird' and retire in the best of both worlds, spring/summer & fall in Michigan, and winters in Florida!

The Owner purchased this house in 2011

The Charlevoix-Petoskey-Traverse City-Glen Arbor/Glen Haven were always our vacation destinations while growing up in the metropolitan Detroit area. Charlevoix has not grown as fast as some of the other northern Michigan cities and it retains its quaint charm surrounded by water, water everywhere. The charm of the town and the friendliness of the people are why I wanted to have a vacation home in Charlevoix the Beautiful!

I enjoy walks along the Lake Michigan shoreline, Mt. McSauba Recreation area, or along Park Avenue down to Boulder Park to see the Earl Young 'mushroom' homes, or over to Depot Beach in the early mornings, or into downtown to shop, dine, or enjoy a concert in East Park long the marina!

Comfortable home, Mayberry street

  • 5 of 5
Beautiful home, Faith! All 6 of us felt so comfortable there. Loved the front porch! My favorite time was in the morning - breakfast, coffee, and a good book. Any time we were not in town, at the beach, or on the bike trail, we were hanging out on your porch. My 17-year-old daughter and her friend, however, preferred the back deck when tanning. Your home is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. During the rainy days, we rented movies and all gathered in the cozy family room. The walk to town was perfect, shopping - excellent, and a variety of restaurants to try - my favorite was the pastry/coffee shop on the corner, it has the best lunch menu (the apple/brie salad is amazing). We love Charlevoix, loved your home. Thank you for making our week so enjoyable!

A beautiful place in a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5
This cottage exceeded the description given here. Located just a 5 minute walk from downtown Charlevoix, steps to the beach, and a short bike ride to the rail/trail to Petoskey. We enjoyed the park off of Mt Mcsauba Rd, trails through the woods, dunes, and swimming are all there to be enjoyed. The owner was very helpful and had thought of everything a family would need in a vacation rental. We had nine people in the house and never felt crowded, plenty of room. The house has a great porch for relaxing and the backyard is fenced with a barn where we were able to store our bikes. We would highly recommend this property.

Perfect for us...

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect spot for the family over Venetian Week in Charlevoix. My brother & I grew up in Charlevoix - but the home property was sold some time ago. Our return for Venetian Week and my high school reunion hinged on finding the perfect place -- and we did. The home is within walking distance of downtown and one of the Lake Michigan beaches. There was plenty of room for us... and it just felt like home... Thank you!!

Wonderful Cottage!

  • 5 of 5
The moment we walked up the charming front porch and opened the front door, we felt right at home. The owner made sure we had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. The description was accurate and even exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect...a beautiful neighborhood and just a very short walk to town. We enjoyed many of the great things Charlevoix offers: restaurants, shopping, beaches, movies, music, art, and boating on Lake Charlevoix. We would definitely rent this cottage again and highly recommend it.

Charming in-town rental complete with a white picket fence!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I had an enjoyable week long vacation at this charming home the last week of June. We have relatives who live in the area so Charlevoix has been a staple vacation throughout my childhood. We were fortunate to visit this year where I could show my husband how beautiful Northern MI really is, and this home was a perfect fit for our trip. We loved the short walk to downtown, the Weathervane, the lighthouse, the Bridge Street Tap Room and especially the public beach access to Lake Michigan just across the street off Michigan Avenue. Charlevoix is a an ideal mid point to visit Traverse City, Macinac Island, Boyne City, Petosky, and Alden where we enjoyed visiting this trip. We spent most of our time while at the house relaxing on the oversized front porch where you can enjoy a light breeze from the lake. The kitchen was large and accommodating with a big dining table perfect for family game night and fully stocked to cook family dinners. There was plenty of space for 6 adults. The cottage truly made our trip complete and the owner was very helpful throughout the whole renting experience. I only wish we lived closer, but hope to visit again someday soon!

Weekend in Charlevoix

  • 4 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in Charlevoix! The description and photos of the rental home were accurate and it was decorated nicely. The owner was very accommodating and let us rent for the weekend only and also let us in the home a couple hours early on arrival date. The biggest disappointment was finding dog hair throughout the home and the owner apologized for she is raising a Golden Retriever as a service dog. Our favorite part was relaxing on the front porch!!

Owner's Response: I do have a Golden Retriever puppy who was under 30 lbs. at the time of this review. She is not allowed upstairs and never up on the furniture. The house has all new carpeting and floor tile on the second floor and new wood flooring in the living and master bedroom - all installed spring of this year (2013). The floors and all throw rugs, except one, were washed within an hour of the tenant's early arrival. I do apologize for missing the one throw rug near the desk area, but that was the only rug that was not washed before the guest's arrival. I have never had a complaint about any dog hair in the house, and I will ensure that this is not a problem in the future.
