At the end of the Peninsula, Dursey Island is worth a visit and boasts Europe's only oversea’s cable car. Bere Island has a ferry service for foot passengers and cars and is a walker’s heaven. The pretty villages of Glengariff and Eyeries are nearby and while in Glengariff why not take a boat across to beautiful Italian gardens at Garinish Island. Kenmare is less than an hour by car and features some of the best gourmet dining in all of Ireland. Bantry is also in easy driving distance and from there it is easy to get to Bantry House and Gardens, Gougane Barra, Sheep’s and Mizen Head.
The Healy Pass will take your breath away especially when you see Glanmore Lake. Visit the famous McCarthy's Bar in Castletownbere made famous in Pete MacCarthy's book - there's umpteen ways to enjoy your time, get to know the people and experience the craic.
