Winchester Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Lodge, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)
Our lodge is hand-built, from the cedar shake exterior to the pine and cedar interior. Large two story windows fill the great room with sunlight. It is located at the end of a half mile private road, and is totally secluded.
It offers all the comforts of home (A/C, electric heat, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, deck with grill), all overlooking a wooded dell.
Our guests rave about the quiet and peaceful ambiance. One of our guests last weekend (a group of ladies on a getaway) said in the guestbook: 'We leave here a changed people. The peace is consuming. The beauty immense. The sounds refreshing. Thank you for the reviving of my soul.'
We have one master bedroom with queen size bed, a second bedroom with a king size bed and two bunk beds, a loft with a full size sofa bed, another loft with a full size futon, and a cupola with air mattress. There are two full baths on the second floor and a half bath on the first floor.
Have breakfast on our sun-dappled deck in the woods, spend the morning walking the woods and fields of our farm and the evening relaxing in the great room, surrounded with warm pine paneling with cedar trim. On clear nights, star gaze from our farm field, where the Milky Way shines across the sky.
Spend your days visiting the Great Serpent Mound, the Amish community or walking one of the many nature preserves in the area, looking for unusual plants and geologic formations.

I am a retired lawyer turned first carpenter then innkeeper. We bought the Lodge in 2003 when it was framed in and roofed, but had no exterior or interior finish. I finished the house with expert help with the electricity, plumbing and drywall. I am an amateur naturalist and enjoy botanizing and bird watching. We have been coming to Adams County since the 1970's and have always enjoyed its natural beauty and unusual natural features. I now spend my time finishing another cabin on the farm and managing the Lodge, while maintaining the fields on the farm. I have a boxer dog who comes with me everywhere. Dogs are welcome at the Lodge.
We have owned a farm in Adams County for 20 years. This property, which adjoins our original farm, came on the market in 2002, and we bought it in early 2003. I spend 5 years finishing it, and started to rent it in Fall 2008. We like this location because it is rural and filled with natural beauty and wildlife. It is close to Cincinnati, where we live.
If you like peace and quiet this is the place for you. We have a number of families who spend holidays here, enjoying the cozy atmosphere and the woods, fields and cave. Our guests like to visit the Serpent Mound and spend time in the shops of the Amish community. Many come for the State Nature Preserves and the Nature Conservancy's Edge of Appalachia Preserve. In the Fall, many of our guests are deer hunters looking for one of the big bucks that have been taken out of Adams County.
