This beautiful, well appointed, but rustic, home let's you feel like you are in the wilderness of Montana while still enjoying all of the amenities of modern living. The open floor plan allows for large gatherings of friends and family in its over 2200 square feet and rests on 2.5 acres of private, wooded land. On the main floor, which is approximately 1300 square feet, you will find the great room with towering, 23' high cedar tongue and groove ceilings with a rock fireplace flanked by beautiful, large windows facing the front of the property for plenty of natural light. Above the mantel a unique, 13' piece of cotton wood sets center stage. One the opposing walls you will find unique artifacts such as a Grizzly bear rug from Alaska and skis and snowshoes made by the owner’s grandfather.
The master suite is also located on this level and features a custom, private bath with a 5' x 5' walk in double headed shower all in travertine marble with river rock accents running through it. The custom poured concrete counter top features a raw edge and local stone inlays. From the master king sized 12' memory foam bed you can look out the French doors and view the natural landscape or step out onto the deck to enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Also on the main floor you will find the dining room and gourmet kitchen. The dining room can seat at least 12 with the additional table set up and has an 8' picture window to enjoy the wooded acreage. A 10' blue pine bar separates the dining area from the kitchen so guests can sit and visit while meals are prepared or it is a great place for children to enjoy a snack. The kitchen features all stainless appliances, custom concrete countertops with fossil inlays, a marble island and custom knotty alder cabinetry. A half bath and separate laundry closet with a stackable washer and dryer for guest use are located off the kitchen as well.
To get to the loft you ascend a beautiful 4' wide, open staircase from the great room. The loft is nearly 900 square foot and features a TV/family area; two private bedrooms with a shared full bath and semi-private office space that has alternate sleeping on a futon. One of the loft bedrooms has two double beds and the other has a single queen bed. The office does have a computer for guest use and Wi-Fi is also available for your own devices.
The TV area features a large, flat screen TV as well as a surround sound system. The house and decks are also wired for sound. There are five speaker zones - two on the deck, one in the master, one in the kitchen/dining room and one in the loft. You can listen to the satellite TV or your own favorite sounds throughout the house or in each zone separately.
The house does feature over 600 square feet of covered cedar deck to enjoy as well as a gas barbeque for preparing meals. The deck is approximately 4' from ground level and features a custom turned railing. In front of the deck is a 2900 square foot lawn, regulation horse shoe pit as well as a custom fire ring made by Great Falls artist, Bruce Vasser. While there I invite you to spend at least one night outside star gazing. It is phenomenal.
For parking you will find an easy access u-shaped gravel drive with plenty of parking. If you have RV's, boats, trailers or other large vehicles please make sure to disclose that at booking.
The property is nestled on nearly 2.5 acres in the beauty of Glacier National Park's back door, just 2 miles from your front door to the west entrance of the park. If GNP wasn't enough you are just 27 miles from the quaint galleries and shops of Whitefish; 35 miles to the Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort, one of the premier ski areas in the west; 35 miles from the Glacier International Airport: and approximately 1.5 miles from the Amtrak rail station. It truly is a little slice of paradise year round. I lovingly refer to our home, which we recently finished, as King's Cabin due to my name, Cortni King, although my daughter refers to it as a 'log castle.' I know you will not be disappointed in your stay. It is a beautiful home in an amazing area. If you any questions please do not hesitate to call or email. Thank you.

My family has a long history in the area spanning back to the late 1800's on both sides but I just returned to the area in 2008. I bought the property in 2009 and have been working on it since. I currently work in Great Falls and finished the house in the spring of 2012 and look forward to sharing my dream with you and yours. West Glacier and Glacier National Park are truly stunning and I hope you will find our home comfortable, inviting and inspiring. I am an artist/teacher hope my unique sensibilities highlight the beauty of the area and nature.
Cortni King purchased this cabin in 2009
The area is stunning and my rich family history brought a sense of kinship with canyon, the Bob Marshal Wilderness, the Great Bear, and, of course, Glacier National Park, the Crown Jewel of the Continent.
My home is situated on nearly 2.5 wooded acres with a clearing in the center providing you a sense of seclusion while still being close enough to others that there is a sense of safety. It is just a hop skip and a jump to area attractions including the Amazing Fun Center, restaurants, bars, a grocery store, bakery, rafting, helicopter tours, etc.
We have rented homes on a regularly for family events and vacations. Dealing directly with the owner, Cortni was a pleasure. The house was very well supplied and was a perfect for my granddaughter's second birthday celebration. We loved the location, the warm and relaxing great room. The beautiful fireplace wall and massive windows. We have a list of favorite home to rent again and this definitely made our list.
Thank you Cortni! Your home was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay and everything you did to accommodate our special needs (crock pot :)). We would definitely recommend your home to anyone looking to stay in West Glacier. We loved being so close to the park entrance. Your VRBO listing was accurate and helpful and we were pleased that it was everything you advertised it to be. We appreciate that you were so easily available via text, phone, and email to answer all of our questions both prior to our arrival and during our stay. Since we stayed a week, I had time to read the entire book that your grandmother (I think it was your grandmother?) wrote about their early days here in America. Wow! That's pretty cool to have your family history documented like that. Thanks for sharing your home with us! We had a great time hiking in the park and hope to come back sometime soon.
We recently stayed here on our trip to Glacier. The house is beautiful- pictures don't do it justice. All the finished are high quality and well-suited to the home. 5 minute drive to the park. Love the hummingbird feeders right off the back porch-they came to feed all day long. The yard is great with a very nice fire pit area and plenty of wood. Cortni was very easy to work with and promptly answered all me emails. Would definitely stay here again!
Our stay at King's Cabin in West Yellowstone couldn't have been better! Our family of nine, including 6 adults and 3 children enjoyed the house, yard and the porch. The pictures don't do it justice! The attention to detail in this home is fantastic, from the artistically designed huge shower, sink and counter top in the Master Suite to the beautiful kitchen, everything was pleasing and comfortable! The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed to cook and serve meals, and the beds were comfortable. After long days of beautiful hikes it was so nice to only drive a short 2 miles to be back at the cabin! Cortni (the owner) was attentive and prompt with any questions we had and tried to make our time in her rental home enjoyable. Our family loved our vacation time at King's Cabin and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to make special memories in Glacier National Park!
We had an awesome time during our stay at King's Cabin. While the pictures are accurate, they really do not do the house justice. The cabin is BEAUTIFUL!!! It really was a treat to stay there.
We stayed there with our young family (husband, wife, 3 boys (5, 3, &1)), plus the boys' grandma and their 17 year old cousin. The sleeping arrangements we fantastic with a memory foam king bed in the 1st floor master along with two upstairs bedrooms (2 double beds in one room and a queen in the other). The beds were very comfortable and all linens were provided.
The kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. which made it so easy to eat breakfast prior to heading out to Glacier for the day. We loved using the brand new gas grill for grilling up burgers and steaks for dinner. The horseshoe and fire pits were used every night to help further unwind after a day of hiking. It was really nice touch that there is firewood all set for your use.
Some other nice and unexpected things about the house were:
- the location (you are literally 3 minutes from driveway to Glacier entrance)
- the piano in the living room (the boys LOVED it so much that our 5 year now wants to take piano lessons)
- the surround sound setup was great for the house allowed for us to listen to music from our iphone while prepping dinner
the TV setup with DirecTV was nice as well (although I liked that it was in the loft so it didn't get as much use as at home)
- the internet connection was fast
- the master bath was super nice (our 3 & 5 year olds never wanted to shower as much as when we were there because of the two shower heads in the beautiful & spacious shower)
- the house was very clean when we arrived
- all bed linens, towels, dish soap, toilet paper, & paper towels were provided
- great having a washer/dryer so we went home with all clean clothes
Additionally the owner is a really nice person that is easily reached by cell phone before, during, and after check in.
Needless to say we will be back!!!!
The property is lovely and very well appointed. We enjoyed the wood stove on cold evenings. There is so much to do in the area that we wish we could have stayed longer. It was wonderful to be so close to the park, but not in a commercial environment. Five of our family went whitewater rafting with a company within walking distance, and at a 10% reduction. We drove the Going to the Sun Road on our last day there, it only opened the day before. Huckleberry everything is the name of the game in W. Glacier, we had it all. The owner leaves a well thought out book about the history of the area, building of the house, and suggestions for restaurants, outings, groceries, etc. Stay here, it is great.
Glacier National Park is listed as one of the top 100 places to see due to its spectacular views and amazing outdoor activites and is located a mere 2 miles from the front door of this VRBO!
