KING'S CABIN, JUST 2 MILES FROM PARK ENTRANCE!

West Glacier Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Office, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

This beautiful, well appointed, but rustic, home let's you feel like you are in the wilderness of Montana while still enjoying all of the amenities of modern living. The open floor plan allows for large gatherings of friends and family in its over 2200 square feet and rests on 2.5 acres of private, wooded land. On the main floor, which is approximately 1300 square feet, you will find the great room with towering, 23' high cedar tongue and groove ceilings with a rock fireplace flanked by beautiful, large windows facing the front of the property for plenty of natural light. Above the mantel a unique, 13' piece of cotton wood sets center stage. One the opposing walls you will find unique artifacts such as a Grizzly bear rug from Alaska and skis and snowshoes made by the owner’s grandfather.

The master suite is also located on this level and features a custom, private bath with a 5' x 5' walk in double headed shower all in travertine marble with river rock accents running through it. The custom poured concrete counter top features a raw edge and local stone inlays. From the master king sized 12' memory foam bed you can look out the French doors and view the natural landscape or step out onto the deck to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Also on the main floor you will find the dining room and gourmet kitchen. The dining room can seat at least 12 with the additional table set up and has an 8' picture window to enjoy the wooded acreage. A 10' blue pine bar separates the dining area from the kitchen so guests can sit and visit while meals are prepared or it is a great place for children to enjoy a snack. The kitchen features all stainless appliances, custom concrete countertops with fossil inlays, a marble island and custom knotty alder cabinetry. A half bath and separate laundry closet with a stackable washer and dryer for guest use are located off the kitchen as well.

To get to the loft you ascend a beautiful 4' wide, open staircase from the great room. The loft is nearly 900 square foot and features a TV/family area; two private bedrooms with a shared full bath and semi-private office space that has alternate sleeping on a futon. One of the loft bedrooms has two double beds and the other has a single queen bed. The office does have a computer for guest use and Wi-Fi is also available for your own devices.

The TV area features a large, flat screen TV as well as a surround sound system. The house and decks are also wired for sound. There are five speaker zones - two on the deck, one in the master, one in the kitchen/dining room and one in the loft. You can listen to the satellite TV or your own favorite sounds throughout the house or in each zone separately.

The house does feature over 600 square feet of covered cedar deck to enjoy as well as a gas barbeque for preparing meals. The deck is approximately 4' from ground level and features a custom turned railing. In front of the deck is a 2900 square foot lawn, regulation horse shoe pit as well as a custom fire ring made by Great Falls artist, Bruce Vasser. While there I invite you to spend at least one night outside star gazing. It is phenomenal.

For parking you will find an easy access u-shaped gravel drive with plenty of parking. If you have RV's, boats, trailers or other large vehicles please make sure to disclose that at booking.

The property is nestled on nearly 2.5 acres in the beauty of Glacier National Park's back door, just 2 miles from your front door to the west entrance of the park. If GNP wasn't enough you are just 27 miles from the quaint galleries and shops of Whitefish; 35 miles to the Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort, one of the premier ski areas in the west; 35 miles from the Glacier International Airport: and approximately 1.5 miles from the Amtrak rail station. It truly is a little slice of paradise year round. I lovingly refer to our home, which we recently finished, as King's Cabin due to my name, Cortni King, although my daughter refers to it as a 'log castle.' I know you will not be disappointed in your stay. It is a beautiful home in an amazing area. If you any questions please do not hesitate to call or email. Thank you.

My family has a long history in the area spanning back to the late 1800's on both sides but I just returned to the area in 2008. I bought the property in 2009 and have been working on it since. I currently work in Great Falls and finished the house in the spring of 2012 and look forward to sharing my dream with you and yours. West Glacier and Glacier National Park are truly stunning and I hope you will find our home comfortable, inviting and inspiring. I am an artist/teacher hope my unique sensibilities highlight the beauty of the area and nature.

Cortni King purchased this cabin in 2009

The area is stunning and my rich family history brought a sense of kinship with canyon, the Bob Marshal Wilderness, the Great Bear, and, of course, Glacier National Park, the Crown Jewel of the Continent.

My home is situated on nearly 2.5 wooded acres with a clearing in the center providing you a sense of seclusion while still being close enough to others that there is a sense of safety. It is just a hop skip and a jump to area attractions including the Amazing Fun Center, restaurants, bars, a grocery store, bakery, rafting, helicopter tours, etc.

A GREAT GET-TOGETHER FOR THE FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
The property is lovely and very well appointed. We enjoyed the wood stove on cold evenings. There is so much to do in the area that we wish we could have stayed longer. It was wonderful to be so close to the park, but not in a commercial environment. Five of our family went whitewater rafting with a company within walking distance, and at a 10% reduction. We drove the Going to the Sun Road on our last day there, it only opened the day before. Huckleberry everything is the name of the game in W. Glacier, we had it all. The owner leaves a well thought out book about the history of the area, building of the house, and suggestions for restaurants, outings, groceries, etc. Stay here, it is great.

GREAT PLACE !!

  • 5 of 5
Spent 3 nights along with daughter's family (4 adults / 3 young children). The home was clean and well cared for. Made use of the kitchen and grill by making morning and evening meals. Only a few miles from Glacier Park. Even went over to Apgar for ice cream after supper. The washer/dryer was put to good use each night keeping up with clothes (especially for the kids). We also enjoyed the covered porch and fire pit (the smores were great). The covered parking also came in handy when it started to rain when we were packing to leave. Cortni was excellent to deal with as she went above and beyond answering questions in preparation for our trip. The home was everything it was advertised to be, and we had a very enjoyable time.

SNOWY GLACIER CHRISTMAS

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at King's cabin for a week over Christmas and enjoyed the stay very much. We like to cook and the cabin is very well equipped with everything needed and a beautiful kitchen. Even better was the proximity to the park. We cross country skied in the park each day on different trails and the 5 minute drive to the park entrance meant we were out on the snow quickly. We saw white tailed deer and bald eagles in the park as well as wonderful views of the peaks when the weather cleared. We also enjoyed stopping in at the Belden Chalet after skiing for a drink on the weekend nights. Visiting the park in winter means no crowds and the beauty and solitude of the park to yourself. NPS provides information on ski and snow shoe routes in the park.

Our best ski was a four hour round trip to Avalanche campground up Going to the Sun road.

The covered parking area meant we did not have to clear snow from our car each day and made loading/uploading very easy.

This was a very comfortable, beautiful place to stay and we highly recommend it.

GREAT PLACE AND FANTASTIC LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
My family of 5 stayed at the cabin over Labor Day and had a fantastic time. The cabin itself is lovely and the location to West Glacier is unbelievable. The cabin also contained amenities other than those listed on the website (washer/dryer, hair dryer, etc), which was nice. One of the unexpected things that we enjoyed was the fact that there was a book where guests had written about their experiences at the cabin and Glacier National Park and contained some great suggestions on where to go to see wildlife within Glacier. I would definitely stay there again.

GREAT PLACE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week at King's cabin with 2 brothers, a nephew and their wives. There was plenty of room in the house, on the porch, and in the yard for 8 adults and all our activities. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of dishes, glassware, and silverware and a dishwasher, too. The pots and pans were great, and the knives actually cut, something that has been lacking in other homes/condos we've rented. We also were happy to have the washer/dryer because it was warmer than we expected in Glacier, and we needed to launder and reuse our warm-weather clothing. The close proximity to Glacier NP was great. We drove in and out often. We also visited Kalispell and Whitefish. King's Cabin was great in every way!

WONDERFUL!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the Kings Cabin with a couple families traveling with us, and it was beautiful with lots of room and amenities! We've been to Glacier multiple times and this was definitely the most convenient/best valued place we have stayed. It's so close the park's entrance and also all of West Glacier's activities. It was great to have the bonfire pit to relax after a tough day of hiking. We will definitely be back next year!
