6Stanco is a group of stone buildings set around a courtyard with secure parking. Olimpia is a two-bedroomed self-catering flat adjacent to our main house, with separate entrance, shared only with the flat immediately beneath it. Giacomina and Giuseppina are the two mirror-image self-catering studio flats on the raised ground floor of the converted barn, each with its own entrance. With the three apartments we can easily accommodate groups of friends or extended families for unforgettable holidays! We live all year round in the main stone house; also a Bed & Breakfast with three double rooms so we are here to help. The lower level of the barn is the 60sq.m Course Room; also adjacent to the kids' pool & sun terrace. We can offer Art, Ceramics, Painting, Hatha Yoga, Italian and English language Courses, individual foot Reflexology, Shiatsu and Massage, if requested at the time of your booking. There is Horse riding at our local Pegasus Riding Stables

Details for Olimpia 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6, 1 Bathroom

Olimpia is on the 2nd floor which is the top floor unit in a semi-detached stone building, sharing the entrance at ground level with only the first floor flat. Entrance, open plan kitchen-dining-living area with satellite TV & DVD player. The living area faces the 6Stanco courtyard with mountain views towards the south. The bathroom has a shower and hanging space for laundry over the bath-tub. The first bedroom has a large double bed and spacious wall cupboard & the second bedroom has a double and a single bed. ( which can be made into three singles) A sixth sleeping space can be added, ideally for a child, in the form of a single sofa bed in the living room. or a travelling cot. The view from both bedrooms is woodland and mountains beyond. Renovation of this old stone apartment was completed at the beginning of 2006. The interior wall is in fair-faced stone whereas the external stone walls have been insulated. The heating & hot water combination boiler system is autonomous

The village of Stanco is at an altitude of 600m and lies on the southern slope of Monte Stanco, offering wonderful views and terrain for walking or cycling. Only a ten minute walk away is the pretty medieval village of Stanco di Sotto followed by the Pegasus Riding stables. The town of Grizzana is on the boundary of the Regional Historical Park of Monte Sole. This large area holds a treasure of flora and fauna such as wild boar & deer. The museum-house of the painter, Giorgio Morandi, exhibiting some paintings in his summer studio, is to be found at the ‘Fienili del Campiaro’ on the outskirts of Grizzana. Immediately to the south of Stanco are Montovolo & Monte Vigese in the Provincial Park of Montovolo. One passes the ancient village of Scola en route to the Sanctuary at the top of Montovolo. Beyond lie the Regional Park of Lakes Suviana and Brasimone, good for picnics and boating, then the Regional Park of Corno alle Scale, good for skiing. Outlet Shopping at Barberino di Mugello.

Notes: Our 6Stanco rentals include free use of the outdoor pool (open May - September), sun terrace and exterior shower beside the pool. There are a trampoline, two hammocks and two swings in the garden. Children using these must be accompanied at all times.The garden leads down to our woodland, with pathway, pine forest and recently planted Olive Grove which are open for exploration by all our guests. There is a private consecrated chapel at 6Stanco, open on request. We can organise Art, Ceramics and English Language courses or personal foot reflexology, shiatsu or massage at 6Stanco to coincide with your visit. Hatha Yoga is generally on saturday mornings. Art courses generally operate all year round, afternoons. Please do contact us for courses. Over the summer we organise pizza and focaccia parties using our external wood oven. In the summer months the 60 sq.m. Course Room will be available to our guests unless already in use by our organised activities.

We spent a week staying a 6 Stanco in late May 2009

We had an excellent time and after just a few days back at home we are already keen to make plans to go back.

We had a really peaceful and relaxing time. 6 Stanco is in a beautiful mountain setting, and has spectacular views and sunsets.

The apartment (Olimpia) was stylish, comfortable and well equipped. The other apartments are equally as good. Some real thought and effort has gone in to their design and conversion.

The property was very clean, well maintained and the owner (Ruth) worked very hard to make sure we had all we needed to make us feel at home.

The description of the accommodation provided was accurate.

Ruth and her family were very welcoming and my children were very sad to leave their new found friends at the end of the week. We are really missing being there.

My children enjoyed exploring the garden and loved the trampoline and pool (which Ruth kindly opened up early for us).

I am very keen to visit again and would strongly recommend this for a holiday rental.

The nearby village and restaurant are good and very welcoming; by the end of our stay we were starting to fell like part of the community.

The apartment was also an excellent base for exploring Emilia Romagna:

Modena and Maranello make an excellent day trips. Porretta Terme is nearby and good for shopping and restaurants.

The surrounding countryside would also me great for mountain biking.

The trip to/from Bologna airport can be done in 45 minutes (given a good SatNav or map reader)

This holiday gave us a great relaxing break, a taste of Italian life, with the added bonus of a chance to make some easy and very interesting day trips.
