Get-a-way to the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Situated above the clouds atop Whiskey Mountain overlooking the town of Hiawassee. Cabin has Wi-Fi. The perfect point to relax and take in the views of Lake Chatuge and the blue multi-layered mountains from your rocking chair on the deck. The chalet offers something for everyone. The perfect cabin rental get-a-way! The kitchen is open to the dining area and living area. The decor is charming with faux barn wood painted walls, real antique tin ceilings, and a warming wood burning stove in the living area upstairs (also upstairs are 2 bedrooms, TV, Pull out sofa, DVD & CD). 2 Sets of Sliding Glass Doors bring the outdoors inside with the same views you see in the pictures. You can see these views from almost anywhere on the upstairs level. Downstairs enjoy the game area with pool table, additional living room with flat screen TV, 3rd Bedroom with a Flat Screen TV, & wall mounted electric fireplace for a cozy warm feel. About The Owner

Me (Shari) and my husband (Andy) live in Johns Creek (suburb of Atlanta). I am originally from Atlanta & he is from NJ. We love to work out at Lifetime Fitness, take walks, & go to Northpoint Church. Our kids our pretty much grown, 2 boys each from previous marriages. We have an 18 year old cat who has become our baby.

The Owner purchased this chalet in 2007
Why The Owner chose Hiawassee

I was looking for a mountain property after my mother passed away. She was originally from Murphy, N.C. & I promised her that I would buy a place in the mountains. We live in the suburbs of Atlanta so this would be used as a vacation home. When I walked up the stairs & looked out over the deck & saw that view, I said, 'I don't even care what the house looks like because I want this view!' Everyone that comes up to our property says the same thing, 'You've got the Million Dollar View'. It is truly spectacular. Hiawassee is truly special because it is situated around Lake Chatuge & the layered Blue Ridge Mountains. Almost anywhere you go you will have a view because there is water & mountains all around the area. I like this area also because it is one of the highest areas in Georgia (Brasstown Bald is not far). It's much higher than Helen. If you drive from Helen there is a mountain range you go over & up to get to our place. It's only about 20 miles but the higher you go the prettier. We think so anyway.

What makes this chalet unique

We love that we are able to see the views from almost anywhere in the chalet upstairs. We can go outside & sit in our rockers on the deck & watch the sunset, have our morning coffee at the kitchen table or have a conversation in the living room & still have the views. There are 2 sets of sliding glass doors so it truly feels like the outdoors is brought inside. Another really cool sight is to wake up & look out & see the clouds below sitting on the lake with the blue mountains punching through the clouds. You'll be mesmerized with the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We see all kinds of wild life including black bears! One actually ran in front of us as we drove up our mountain looking back as he went to see how far back we were. He was fast. I love to watch the pileated woodpeckers with their big red tops or wild turkeys meandering around the place. It's always something new.

This was our second stay in a one month period. We enjoyed it so much we invited our son and his wife from Atlanta to join us. We went to Brasstown Bald, Vogle State Park and Helen, Ga. Great panoramic view of lake. Supermarket at the bottom of the hill.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The views of lake and surrounding mountains were beautiful. The pictures on website match what you see in cabin. The cabin is very clean and decorated nicely. The atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful, yet there is plenty to do nearby. We went boating on Lake Chatgue, white water rafting in NC, panned for gold up in Dahlongea and went up to highest mountain in Georgia. The restaurants nearby are great, we ate at Michaelee's chocolate caffe, Chop House and Brothers at Willow Ranch. I would recommend this cabin for those looking for a great vacation, whether you just want to relax all day at the cabin or stay as busy as you want with nearby activities! We would love to come back, it was hard to leave!

This was a perfect little getaway! We love the cozy house and the fun decor. It had everything we needed right there, including the charcol grill. We arrived just before a storm rolled in and were able to enjoy watching the thunderstorm while sipping wine on the balcony. Ever so relaxing! The local hiking and tour information was helpful and assited us in deciding how to spend our next day. We awoke to a beautiful view of the mountains peaking over the clouds that were below us! Little did I know that I'd be walking on clouds all day... on our hike to the High Shaols Falls my boyfriend proposed down on the observation deck. It was so unexpected and lovely. We will certainly return for another visit and look forward to seeing the game room/ downstairs rennovations! Thank you for opening up your charming chalet to us! ~Andy and Courtney

Everything was great! The view was amazing! We would rent this cabin again and recommend it to friends. We also ended up liking Hiawassee better than Helen. The Bearwassee store was the best store either of us had ever been in! The ladies at Linda's antique store made us feel like old friends. We have already talked about coming back in a couple of months. Thank you Shari for the use of your cabin. We truly loved it.
