Photos and Description of the New Orleans vacation apartment rental
Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, a giant kitchen, big light-filled windows and a columned front porch for R&R - this apartment has all the things that make New Orleans architecture special. Add modern amenities like central air and heat, free WiFi and satellite TV, and you've got the perfect home base from which to explore all this great city has to offer!

Lovingly renovated in 2009 by yours truly, this apartment has some important features that are hard to come by in New Orleans. Number one, we have two large, INDEPENDENT bedrooms for maximum privacy and comfort - no walk-though bedrooms here. We have two FULL baths so no lines for the shower. We're a two story unit, with both bedrooms and one bath upstairs, and the den, kitchen and second bath downstairs - so you can easily steal a nap or a little quiet time whenever it suits you.

But the real appeal here is the neighborhood - as they say, location, location, location! We are one block off bustling Magazine Street, steps from over 30 of New Orleans finest restaurants and bars.

Prefer to dine in? Stock up at the Big Fisherman Seafood Market or Breaux Mart grocery, both two blocks away, and whip up your own culinary masterpiece in our large, fully-stocked kitchen. Should you need to pair that meal with a bottle of fine wine, the folks at Martin Wine Cellar - half a block away, will set you up nicely.

If you're like most, you're coming to New Orleans to indulge - and indulge you should! And when the guilty bug gets you, you've got your choice of yoga classes, gym workouts or spa treatments just steps away to get you feeling refreshed. Add to that a boatload of boutiques, art galleries and antique stores, and you'll understand why we love our neighborhood and our city so much!

In town for a special event? We are a short walk from the Magazine Street bus line and the St. Charles Street car line. So whether you're headed to the Superdome, Arena, French Quarter, Aquarium, D-Day Museum, Convention Center, or other downtown attractions, or the Audubon Park and Zoo or Universities uptown, you can get there quickly, easily, and in style. And Mardi Gras? You're practically ON the uptown parade route, a short walk away to St. Charles Avenue.

New Orleans is a lot to take in. Luckily, we live right next door, and are always eager to lend a helping hand. We are a fun-loving young couple (mid-30s), one a green technology financier and the other a professional musician in a popular local band. Why does that matter to you? Because we love our city and are deeply involved in every aspect of its culture! We invite you to enjoy the suggestions we've left for you about where to go and what to do. And above all we encourage you to ask us questions - we are so proud of our city and we want you to love it as much as we do!

About Aaron Wilkinson

We are a fun-loving young couple (mid-30s), one a green technology financier and the other a professional musician in a popular local band. Why does that matter to you? Because we love our city and are deeply involved in every aspect of its culture!

There's hardly a restaurant, lounge or shop we haven't been to - and there's a good chance we'll know some of the staff wherever you're headed. Tell em we sent ya!

Why Aaron Wilkinson chose New Orleans

When we went house shopping our primary criteria was that we wanted to be able to walk to whatever we needed. Well we got that in spades! We are a short walk from over 30 of the city's finest restaurants, plus a seafood market, grocery and fine wine cellar, as well as a boatload of bars, lounges, boutiques and antique shops. You even have your choice of Yoga studios, gyms and a full service spas right here. Its an established New Orleans fact that Magazine Street has it all!

What makes this apartment unique

This house is over 100 years old - it's a renovated Victorian which means you have all the things that make New Orleans architecture world famous - hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, a giant kitchen, big light-filled windows and a columned front porch for R&R, just to name a few.

However, all that Old World style can have it's limitations. Most homes like this in New Orleans are built in what's known as a shotgun style - meaning each room opens to the next from the front to the back of the house. That means many "two bedroom" homes in New Orleans don't offer much privacy - you have to walk through each bedroom to get to the kitchen, bathroom, etc. Not the case here. We have two large, INDEPENDENT bedrooms for maximum privacy and comfort - no walk-thoughs. We have two FULL baths so no lines for the shower. We're a two story unit, with both bedrooms and one bath upstairs, and the den, kitchen and second bath downstairs - so you can easily steal a nap or a little quiet time whenever it suits you.

Great Place for a New Orleans stay

5 of 5

Aaron's rental is a great place to stay while in New Orleans. Aaron was always very quick to answer all of my emails and questions...Great person to work with. As stated from another reviewer, we were welcomed to the house with a nice bottle of sparkling wine. Very nice touch!

The house is really spacious and is much prettier than the pictures show. The 2 bathrooms had plenty of towels. The kitchen was well stocked with every amenity that we needed. There is a washer and dryer for those who need them. The radio in the kitchen was used alot! The bedrooms are very large with high ceilings, very nice. The living room contains 3 couches, which gives plenty of room for everyone while they're putting their feet up after a long day of exploring.

The neighborhood is very quiet, but is located just 1/2 a block from Magazine St and a few blocks away from St Charles St and the trolley cars. There are restaurants and bars everywhere, with a Walgreens and small grocery store just a couple of blocks away. We explored the Garden District on foot for half a day, then grabbed a taxi over to the French Quarter, which is just a couple of miles away.

We really felt like we were living as locals in New Orleans. We've been to New Orleans many times, but have always stayed in small boutique hotels in the French Quarter. We were really missing out by not branching out into the other neighborhoods. So glad we did this time. Oh, and did I mention what a bargain this house is? We've used VRBO in Paris, Rome, Venice, Florence, Playa del Carmen, Miami and LA and I can tell you that this is a great value for a rental!

Clean, Comfortable, Perfect Location

We enjoyed staying at this comfortable roomy property. Large eat- in kitchen that was used for morning coffee and breakfast. There were just too many wonderful restaurants nearby that we ate out everyday. Besides great restaurants and bars, there are a few grocery stores nearby, one being a Whole Foods. A great wine store down the block. Walgreens within walking distance.
Magazine street is a block away. Countless antique stores, boutiques and salons. A very convenient bus takes you right into the French Quarter.
In the opposite direction there is Audubon park.
My husband and I took long walks through the garden district enjoying the architecture.

Mardi Gras parades are a short walk to Saint Charles street.

With all this activity within reach, this house is in a quiet neighborhood. Aaron the owner lives right next door. He was right there whenever we needed anything and was extremely helpful with his suggestions about food and live music.

Charming and huge space!

This is a great place. I lived in New Orleans for 7 years, and wanted to get a little taste of my old life on my trip. This house was perfect! It's in walking distance to a number of great bars, shops and restaurants. The rockers on the front porch let you relax and watch the characters of the city go by with a beer in hand. And the place was huge. Two stories, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, very spacious. My boyfriend and I traveled with my mom, who didn't indulge in the late night activities. So, my mom was able to relax in the house without feeling like she would disturb us in the morning.

The owners were great, too. We were welcomed with a bottle of bubbly on our arrival. They made themselves available for recommendations about the city and were very friendly. They also kept to themselves, so we didn't feel like we were intruding on their space.

Overall, this place is great and I would happily stay there again.
