GORGEOUS 2BR/2BA VICTORIAN - STEPS FROM MAGAZINE ST

New Orleans Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, a giant kitchen, big light-filled windows and a columned front porch for R&R - this apartment has all the things that make New Orleans architecture special. Add modern amenities like central air and heat, free WiFi and satellite TV, and you've got the perfect home base from which to explore all this great city has to offer!

Lovingly renovated in 2009 by yours truly, this apartment has some important features that are hard to come by in New Orleans. Number one, we have two large, INDEPENDENT bedrooms for maximum privacy and comfort - no walk-though bedrooms here. We have two FULL baths so no lines for the shower. We're a two story unit, with both bedrooms and one bath upstairs, and the den, kitchen and second bath downstairs - so you can easily steal a nap or a little quiet time whenever it suits you.

But the real appeal here is the neighborhood - as they say, location, location, location! We are one block off bustling Magazine Street, steps from over 30 of New Orleans finest restaurants and bars.

Prefer to dine in? Stock up at the Big Fisherman Seafood Market or Breaux Mart grocery, both two blocks away, and whip up your own culinary masterpiece in our large, fully-stocked kitchen. Should you need to pair that meal with a bottle of fine wine, the folks at Martin Wine Cellar - half a block away, will set you up nicely.

If you're like most, you're coming to New Orleans to indulge - and indulge you should! And when the guilty bug gets you, you've got your choice of yoga classes, gym workouts or spa treatments just steps away to get you feeling refreshed. Add to that a boatload of boutiques, art galleries and antique stores, and you'll understand why we love our neighborhood and our city so much!

In town for a special event? We are a short walk from the Magazine Street bus line and the St. Charles Street car line. So whether you're headed to the Superdome, Arena, French Quarter, Aquarium, D-Day Museum, Convention Center, or other downtown attractions, or the Audubon Park and Zoo or Universities uptown, you can get there quickly, easily, and in style. And Mardi Gras? You're practically ON the uptown parade route, a short walk away to St. Charles Avenue.

New Orleans is a lot to take in. Luckily, we live right next door, and are always eager to lend a helping hand. We are a fun-loving young couple (mid-30s), one a green technology financier and the other a professional musician in a popular local band. Why does that matter to you? Because we love our city and are deeply involved in every aspect of its culture! We invite you to enjoy the suggestions we've left for you about where to go and what to do. And above all we encourage you to ask us questions - we are so proud of our city and we want you to love it as much as we do!

There's hardly a restaurant, lounge or shop we haven't been to - and there's a good chance we'll know some of the staff wherever you're headed. Tell em we sent ya!

Aaron Wilkinson purchased this apartment in 2008

When we went house shopping our primary criteria was that we wanted to be able to walk to whatever we needed. Well we got that in spades! We are a short walk from over 30 of the city's finest restaurants, plus a seafood market, grocery and fine wine cellar, as well as a boatload of bars, lounges, boutiques and antique shops. You even have your choice of Yoga studios, gyms and a full service spas right here. Its an established New Orleans fact that Magazine Street has it all!

This house is over 100 years old - it's a renovated Victorian which means you have all the things that make New Orleans architecture world famous - hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, a giant kitchen, big light-filled windows and a columned front porch for R&R, just to name a few.

However, all that Old World style can have it's limitations. Most homes like this in New Orleans are built in what's known as a shotgun style - meaning each room opens to the next from the front to the back of the house. That means many "two bedroom" homes in New Orleans don't offer much privacy - you have to walk through each bedroom to get to the kitchen, bathroom, etc. Not the case here. We have two large, INDEPENDENT bedrooms for maximum privacy and comfort - no walk-thoughs. We have two FULL baths so no lines for the shower. We're a two story unit, with both bedrooms and one bath upstairs, and the den, kitchen and second bath downstairs - so you can easily steal a nap or a little quiet time whenever it suits you.

GARDEN DISTRICT GEM!

  • 4 of 5
Came to town with a group of four friends for the first weekend of jazzfest. It was so nice to have a warm, comfy, roomy spot to rest and relax after all the Fest fun. Being one block from Magazine St. made it so simple to walk to food, (Mahoney's for the Peace Lover Po'Boy was amazing and head to Slim Goodbody's for delish diner breakfast!), groceries, cute shops, and local bus line. Landlords live next door and were very helpful and accommodating during our stay.

PERFECT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Very comfortable, very clean and brilliantly located. Not the Four Seasons (or whatever is considered to be upscale these days), but really...if you're in NOLA, you're not spending time at your hotel/house!

Owners are super responsive and super friendly. It's a HUGE place with so much room. It was just three of us, but I can see how easily 8 people would fit here without getting in one another's way.

Right off Magazine, but yet quiet! Also, bonus little back courtyard. It's not in perfect condition, but its PERFECT to sit out and enjoy morning hangover cure (coffee or bloody mary!) while everyone else is getting up and ready to go.

Highly Recommend!

NICE PLACE TO STAY IN THE GARDEN DISTRICT/MAGAZINE STREET

  • 4 of 5
We stayed here for the first time and I will have to say we will be coming back. The house is very spacious, and I will echo other reviews that the beds are super comfortable. The place is walking distance from Magazine street, and if you are good at getting around, you can walk to St. Charles Ave too. I will also agree that while it's not the Ritz, it is everything you need for a trip, and unless you plan on hosting huge dinner parties in your rental house, you probably won't need anything else. My only feedback is that because we were new to this, there were some business end things that I feel like should come in a confirmation email, like the actual check in policy, etc. I felt like we were bugging Aaron (although he never made us feel that way, that was just how I felt, he was very gracious) with all of our questions that maybe could have come in a FAQ sheet. The other thing is maybe pointing out where basic things are in the house. We blew a fuse and had to knock on their door to get it fixed, and we felt badly about that. All in all, however, I don't see us ever doubling up with family when we come in again. :)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

  • 5 of 5
Great location -- 1 short block to shopping and restaurants on Magazine St including Breaux Mart for groceries. Easy bus ride downtown. Lots of room for 4 adults. Beds very comfortable. Tried to eat breakfast plus one meal/day in house so appreciated good quality pots, pans and appliances. Highly recommend.
